  1. More bullshit from the FIA today it seems. Not only did it take them 3 or 4 hours to decide they would investigate Rosberg's lap (yes, that's 3 or 4 hours to decide whether it actually needed investigating, not 3 or 4 hours to make a decision on said alleged infringement), but at the end of it all they said fuck it and decided not to do anything anyway. And now they are saying some cars could be disqualified altogether from qualifying because of the 107% rule. Pathetic. I suppose the people at the FIA have to keep themselves in a job somehow.
  2. Ok thanks I will give them a try tomorrow. Tried again with Performance Direct, lowered the mileage, and now I can't even get a price from them. I don't understand why with no modifications the prices I get are really low, then as soon as you add the mods it jumps to 5 times the price at the least, and thats if I even get a price at all. What sort of price increase have others seen after doing BPU mods?
  3. Yeah I've tried Lancaster too, over £3000 with some of the BPU mods. They said it was probably because it wasn't considered a classic car yet, so a lot of their people couldn't quote.
  4. Well I must be telling them something different then. On a comparison site for my car at the moment it's around £650, but add in the mods and it goes above £10,000 (not a typo) and that's if I get any quotes at all.
  5. Yeah I tried them, they were double the price I was getting on regular price comparison sites. What exactly is the trick here when adding mods? Do most people give hazy details or not bother declaring them at all?
  6. Might have to give up on this, getting ridiculous quotes on insurance and my current provider won't cover me on BPU mods, so I guess the decision has been made for me!
  7. I sent across the BPU mods to my current insurance company, but they said they couldn't cover me. Which insurance companies do people recommend for modified cars?
  8. What team bias? Do you seriously believe all the shit from the idiot fans out there?
  9. Well, I was kind of annoyed that you assumed I wanted to go back to the days of people dying in just about every race, clearly you don't think much of me.
  10. Erm, what? I was referring to F1 in the mid to late 1990's, not sure why you assumed I was suggesting going back to the death traps of the 60's. A circuit can be challenging without being dangerous. These are supposed to be the best open wheel drivers in the world, and I expect them to be challenged. Were you trying to belittle me with that last line? To be honest I think you knew what I meant but you went with that instead.
  11. The track limits, it's a joke. I remember a time in F1 and racing in general where this never existed. Watch F1 for 5 minutes at a circuit like Silverstone and you'll be hearing about that every 30 seconds. It's getting old and I'm sick of it. It's bad enough having to listen to David Croft and all the he spews line after line, but hearing about the track limits constantly really makes me want to kill myself.
  12. I love how there's no consistency in the rules of this sport, it really makes me change my view that it's been dead for the past 5 years.
  13. What is the point of an agreed valuation on a car like the Supra? The agreed price is only valid for the duration of the poilcy if I'm not mistaken? So 10 months down the line, if you have an accident, but the market value has gone up 20%, they will only pay out the agreed price, so all you're doing is screwing yourself out of money. A regular policy will pay out the market value of the vehicle at the time of the accident, so I honestly don't see the point.
  14. Where were you last race?
  15. Yes the odo/trip are mechanical, it's not on an electronic display.
  16. Just to update this, I have had the dash out to check the wiring behind the instruments, and there is a black box in the wiring for the speed conversion, and there didn't seem to be anything wrong with any of the connections. Manually moving the gears did cause the trip to move, but the odometer was stuck and wouldn't roll over, so it seems as though it is a mechanical failure of the odometer, not an electronics issue.
  17. Since I've had my car, when putting the car into manual mode at a stand still, the LCD display shows "D", implying the car is in overdrive, to pull away I have to press down in the wheel to get to 1st every time. I've also noticed that if the box changes down on its own whilst in manual mode the LCD display does not update to show the correct gear. I have been thinking about this and it doesn't really make sense, the display must know what gear is currently selected at all times as it always reads up/downshifts from the buttons correctly, but if the box changes down itself it does not change on the display, and the only way to be sure what gear you are in is to come to a complete stop, select L (1st) manually and pull away again. This is incredibly annoying, is it a design flaw in the manual operation or is there something wrong with my gearbox?
  18. I am in the East Midlands, but it's more the reliability I'm concerned about, I don't want to damage the car if there is no point. I've also contacted the insurance company to see if they will insure me with the modifications, so that will have a bearing on whether I ultimately do it or not.
  19. The problem is I don't want to damage anything if the risk isn't worth it, is there any way of checking if the car would be vulnerable to failure, paticularly turbochargers? 100hp? I thought BPU was only good for around 50 extra horsepower? At 1.1/1.2 bar?
  20. What if people stop getting tattoo's in the first place? Rather than having them done then having them removed?
  21. I've been debating whether or not to do a basic BPU, with stock power the Supra seems a bit slow, but does the BPU make the car noticeably quicker? On paper it gives better numbers, but does that translate into the real world?
  22. Davidson got fucked, so I'm not bothered
  23. i should be going thermo-nuclear about that shit, but what's the point anymore where is that? looks like NZ or Australia
  24. Is anyone else starting to lose their patience with the tyre "strategies"? It seems that the difference in wear life between compunds is virtually nothing, and doubling/halving the life of the same compound brings no benefit/penalty. We now have 5 dry tyre compounds, which you would think would open up the strategy element, but the FIA only allow 3 of those compounds at any 1 race. Furthermore, there is the other rule about being forced to use the mandatory compound in the race, then another rule which forces you to use at least 2 different compounds during the race. We now have a situation where the tyre strategy doesn't exist as such as there is no way to out-think someone as all the compounds are so similar.
