  1. I've got the RE050A front and RE050 rear I believe.. I think they're very good in the dry, and in the wet it's still good if you don't push it. Also the wear is fine, I've done almost 15000 miles, and I think they'll be good for at least another 7000...
  2. I have no problems running TTC for a while now... I have stock jspec injectors, but don't know if they are maxed out.. I don't think so though, because above 4000 rpm you would normally be in TTC anyway with the stock setup. edit: For future proofing it can be done, but I think you need a aftermarket ecu and mapping.
  3. Facelift rear lights installed!
  4. I've put the dates in my phone. Next on the list is book time of work. Getting excited already!

    newbe alert

Welcome! Seen it at JAE looks nice.
  6. Not bad that video aj. Some good memories
  7. Wow thats weird. Glad you got it fixed though.
  8. Hope you get it fixed. Did you try TTC mode yet? Would be good to rule out the whole sequential system.
  9. Excellent video Scott! Very well done again! If people want a 2 hour DB documentary they can combine everyones videos themselves. This just gives an awesome impression of how much fun these trips are.
  10. http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/articles/andy.htm It opens the iacv and egcv all the time, so it works as one bigger turbo. Thus eliminating the sequential system from the equation, making it easier to diagnose the real problem. Normally this is only the case over 4000 rpm when the second turbo normally comes online. Read through the thread about the sequential system again until you understand what you're doing.
  11. Also try TTC mode. It tests the turbo's without all the valves and vacuum lines. Your turbo 1 could also be knackered of course. Hopefully not though.
  12. I've been doing some reading up on oil values the other day. The 140 stuff will stay thicker when warm compared to 95. The 85W is the value for when its cold. But I think you have to see them seperately(so its not thinner when cold because 85W is lower than 140. It's two different ranges) The higher the value the thicker it gets. W-value : when cold Second value: at operating temperature.
  13. If your exhaust gas control valve is not operated by the VSV it will be shut. Therefor the second turbo won't get online fully. But turbo 1 should. But if turbo 1 isn't making any boost, the problem might be elsewhere. Check the IACV on the top near the back of the engine. If that one stays open then tubbie 1 looses all boost through #2 if I am correct.
  14. I've had something similar. Turned out to be too little fuel. Check this thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=290257
  15. That's some dodgy stuff.. Will short out for sure. Glad you found the problem though
  16. yeah, wasn't very well done at all... This is how I fixed it. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3472574/fuel_pump_walbro.JPG
  17. someone with greater knowledge will be along shortly I'm sure
  18. I'm pretty sure the purple ones are 550 UK-spec. Can't help you with the others. My jspec ones are beige colour. (440cc)
  19. probably yeah, so they work For future reference: This was how the old fuel pump was 'installed'. Not very tidy at all and the fuel hose had a tight curve in it to connect to the line. You can see it had split the outer rubber layer exposing the braided stuff underneath.
  20. Welcome! nice colour too! looks very much the same as mine when I bought it.
  21. Originally when I bought it, it was running 1.0 bar with stock SMIC and stock Exhaust system. However I've upgraded to Catback and CW SMIC. I'm thinking the increase in load for the pump has worn it out maybe, which caused my intermittent problems. However, when changing the pump I discovered that the original j-spec pump was already out. It was fitted with some sort of nissan R32 GTR pump. (supposedly 195 lph) old pump & new walbro: Unisia jecs A42-621B70 12V 1910 Made in Japan
  22. Alright, a great update on this issue. I'm 99% confident I've fixed the problem. I've installed the Walbro 341 (255 lph) fuel pump. Went out for a test drive and voilla! Perfect boost, perfect revving when stationary. Feels alot stronger and even starts excellent when warm (so no piggyback starting issue for me there). Can't be any more happy now!! :D:D:wooohoo:
  23. That NA looks nice, but I think the price is pretty high for a '93 with 120k on it. If you're going for a turbo then I'd suggest buying one to start with. It's cheaper in the long run I think. edit: especially now I've seen it's also an Auto. After you're done converting to LHD, TT engine, 6-speed box you'll be spending more than the 28.000 for a LHD TT.
  24. Just an update. I'm still on this, just to rule out some things I bought a new walbro 255 fuel pump and new filter. And to make some bits more shiny a smic hard pipe kit from whifbits. Will install the stuff this week, so we'll see how she goes after this. Will check the wiring on the knock sensors as well while I'm installing the pipe kit.
