Thanks guys. If I can find a way, it may be a good excuse to go 6 speed but I doubt anyone will let me pay them monthly for a Getrag
-
Right, first off, please refrain from the "a w58 is no good for bpu" etc as it wont help, and will just really annoy me, as as we all know, we are trigger happy us Mods So..... NA-TT W58 BPU On the way home from the shops, all of a sudden there was a horrendous rattling churning kind of sound. The faster I went, the worse it got. Put the clutch in, and it quietened down. I pulled over, and had a listen, and there was a VERY feint rattling from somewhere low down and at the back of the engine/behind the engine, was hard to tell. Revving the engine out of gear made no difference to the sound. Am I right in thinking this rules out the engine? Luckily, a friend of mine went past and came back to tow me home. He suggested putting it in second (engine off) so the power steering would work, but the horrible rattling sound came back. As soon as I took it out of gear, the noise went away. Unfortunately, I will not be getting a video of it running for analysis as, in all honesty, with the noise it was making, I don't have the guts to run it, even stood still. So, the question really is......what has it done to itself? I think it's chewed the gearbox, but I'm no expert and not sure. Best case scenario I can think of it that my clutch and/or flywheel have given up completely and cracked/broken up. Worst case, bottom end has gone. I really could cry right now. Looks like I'm going to have to take advantage of the finance options Whifbitz offer, as Paul is only down the road.

You have completely lost me A picture of what you mean might help. I can't picture what hoses you are on about at all. Unless you mean the couplers between the turbos? In which case Whifbitz sell replacements.

Gave her a nice clean yesterday, and sorted a few little jobs. New number plate fitted to the front. The old one looked, well, old, and ruined the front end. Nice shiney import sized plate now fitted. Also gave her a good polish after the wash. I'm currently trying out Auto Finesse products, and I have to say the Supra has come out great, bearing in mind it was literally just a wash and quick polish. I also sorted out my steering wheel alignment, so it finally sits central again, and no my indicators click off when they should. Finally got rid of the last bit of blue in the engine bay (silicone coupler) and replaced with white. However, I found some oil in the old silicone and the IC pipes, so may be looking at new turbos soon
-
This is just for confirmation really, I can never remember what smoke is for what Symptoms -Blue smoke from the exhaust (Tayfun.tugra pointed it out on the way to JapFest) -Oil residue in the IC pipes No problems on boost or normal driving, oil level not really affected. I change my oil every 3-4 months and have never had to top it up (daily driver) So, am I right in thinking this is my turbo oil seals on their way out? If so, over the next few months I'll probably be looking for a pair of low (ish) mileage stock turbos.

I paid £20 for a pair in good nick.

There is a type sizes chart in the FAQ section. You'll find most will run what it says on the chart for each size. Also, most will tell you that brand and model of tyre, conditions, how you drive etc matters just as much as size of tyre, some of the above matter more. Ie. You could have 265 on the rear toyo r888 and be awesome in the dry, or have 285 vreds on and be great in the wet. Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, just pointing out likely replies

That bayside blue R34 GTR (T86 HSM) is owned by a friend of mine. He was blown up in Afghan back in 2011 (double amputee) I put him in touch with Jurgen and voila

Granted, I took advantage to relieve myself. Ill give you that. The lane we went down simply rejoined the road we would have been on if the turning wasn't closed off. Just so you know, I knew the Horse Trials were on, and did check for any road closures on Friday night. That one was not listed. In fact, none were listed that would have affected us, so for that, there was nothing I could do. My car has fresh paint too (a week older than yours), and the lane was plenty wide enough for a Supra. I always had sight of the Supra behind me, and on a few occasions slowed right down to let everyone catch up. How people dropped back I'm not sure, as at times I was crawling along. -
Thread closed. If you had a problem, you should have taken it out with us (as mods/admins) before moaning on the open forum.

It was a forum member, but they will post about it when they are good and ready I'm sure. Everyone involved was fine, and apparently the damage is only cosmetic. And no, it wasn't me either. -

Reference our convoy, I apologise for the route, the usual turning for Castle Combe was closed due to the horse trials, hence the horrible little lane. The turnout in the end was pretty poor for it too, going from 14 listed in the thread, to just 8. The only one who actually let me know they weren't bringing the Supra was Kev.O. The other 5 were just no shows How it was "p**s poor" convoy I'm not sure. We all met at the services, and we all arrived at Combe together, which to me makes it a successful convoy in my opinion. The convoy did get split at one point, but when Nevins text me to let me know, we all got together again. I don't know if it was the speed we were going that wasn't good enough for people, but I'm quite content with my clean licence (there were at least 3 unmarked cars on the M4 on the way by the way, and those were just the ones I clocked) Anyway, I did my job getting everyone to Combe together, so that's good enough for me. I enjoyed seeing the Supras all together, hopefully I'm not the only one. As for the Club Stand location, it was better than Quarry Corner imo. Much closer to the trade stands and it was a decent size. The problem we did have, was that around 6 cars (a bunch of hondas and an MR2) stole some of our stand space at the far end. If they weren't there, everyone could have fitted in fine. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until around 2pm. I do however agree that the other side of the path would have been better. I'll post my pictures and the like when I get home tomorrow night. -
Right, good morning fellow JapFest-ers I'll be leaving mine in about half an hour, so will be at the services around 0640.

No, thank YOU mate
-
If everyone is there then we can leave whenever mate. I want to leave as early as possible mate to be honest, for exactly that reason. I'll be leaving mine at 0630 as I need to fill the Supra up at the services, so I'll be about at the services at 0645. The earlier everyone arrives, the earlier we can leave I'll ring you just before we leave the services Kev.

New custom fmic plate fitted. I got fed up of polishing the stainless one, so have used it as a template to make one out of 4mm perspex.
