Well going up towards my local town Chelmsford, pulled off a round-a-bout off the a12 (after bombing at about a ton for a good minute or so) I put my foot down going round a slight corner and the back came out - I thought right better pull off the accelerator, as you do - but the back continued to slide everywhere. Managed to control her and get her back goin straight, look into my rear view mirror and there is a lot of smoking coming from the back. Sh*t. Wat have i done. I thought something had gone in the engine and the exhaust was blowing a lot of smoke out. Get out of the car, look at the exhaust and its fine
Thinking what the hell just happened...... then i look at my rear tyre

I must have been doing about 70mph(ish) so it could have been a lot lot lot worse. Considering i went to the Bluewater meet last nite and was having it on the way back aswell - if this blew last nite it would have been a different story than just changing the tyre over. Anyway luckily there was a bus stop so i pulled over and changed to the spare.
Can i ask, im after a 265/35 ZR 18 (continental) and i have been quoted about £260 for a new one. Is this how much they cost or can I (i dont wanna be tight about it but...) change to a cheaper tyre that is just as good quality?
