For your budget mate I would keep it simple. Yeah you can find mercs, bmws 4x4's ect but your better of going will a cheap hatchback. Cheap to run, cheap to insure and cheap to buy. I bought a mk5 fiesta zetec s in imperial blue. 1.6 engine 110bhp for £900 then sold it 2 years later for £1200
