  1. It's not too badly priced and does look like a clean example. Works out about £5.5k if it's $9k. Selling the steering wheel and buying a stock one could pay for half the price of getting the VSS sorted. Mine gives off a puff of blue smoke when first started on a morning and it's never given me any problems so will be a good reason to get the price down and not something that is necessarily a major problem if it's only a small amount.
  2. I'll get some moneys sent over next week when I get chance to go to the bank. Bloody thing closes by the time I finish work
  3. I've found Elephant to be really good for what I've wanted. I was getting quotes around £1k but Elephant updated my policy when I bought the Supe and only charged me an extra £40 (8 months cover left from a 52 plate leon cupra) so came to about £800. Just had my renewal through and it is a few quid under £600 (28 and 2 years NCB) They were also really good when adding temp cars onto policy (stuck the leon back on for a week before selling it and they only charged £28 and then when the supe was in the garage getting the boostlogic box rebuilt I bought a megane and that was only £42 to insure for a month!) They never came up when checking on comparison websites so maybe worth a call.
  4. Still interested but will depend if I can get the time off work which is probably unlikely
  5. Can you post the "secret location" when you get there please. I can't make the convoy due to work but will pop along later
  6. Mine has just cost me (well it's still in the garage at the moment) £800 to have a boostlogic auto box rebuilt as I think the pump has failed (most likely wrong oil causing it to clog up). So having the whole thing stripped down and almost everything replaced with further strengthened american parts. I don't think £800 is too bad to have a £2500 box refurbished (includes parts and labor) Nothing original/OEM has gone wrong except a front caliper was sticking a bit. TT Auto
  7. £340 does sound a bit steep. I'm looking to get my rota gtr's refurbed and change the centre colour for about £40-£50 a wheel
  8. Hi guys, I need to fill in a V62 as the DVLA haven't received (lost) my log book but unsure which is the correct vin number on the engine bay plate. Am I right in thinking its the frame number starting with JZA80- and then 7 numbers or is it the the model starting E-JZA80- and then 5 letters? It's an import. Cheers
  9. Average over the last month was 17.7 mpg. BPU Auto
  10. Wish I could but I'm away with the family in Scotland that week
  11. I got Type IV from Toyota when I told them it was a A340E box as they were unsure as the system listed 2 types for the Supra. Got 5 litres for £36.52
  12. I've got this one but its not the best, bonnet isn't closed properly & the old number plate is horrendous. Might be able to get you a much better one Friday if you're still in need. Can email a better resolution one.
  13. Stick my name down too please Steve. Still interested.
  14. Update, got the use of some ramps today so dropped the sump and have the filter a clean (it's a sealed unit so couldn't clean it too much but got a lot out of it) The oil was minging and even found a screw in the sump! Put the screw back where it should have been and put back together and filled the oil back up. The car is driving a lot better but still slipping when pulling away uphill. I think the next step is to replace the filter and give the box a full flush but unsure how to drain the lot. Any body know the best way and if there maybe another fix?
  15. Cheers, I'll give that a go. It's only 2l of oil in the sump though isn't it? Is there a guide anywhere?
  16. Cheers, I'll see if I can get this done on Sunday. Filter and 2L of oil from dealer?
  17. Are you sure it's the filter? It's not engaging gear but if I turn it off and then back on again it will engage. Was thinking it could be a sensor rather than anything mechanical (resetting the reading when ignition is switched off)
  18. Update. The gearbox oil was a little bit low so topped it up but problem is still present. After starting the car it drives fine until I need to stop or put it into reverse. If I turn the engine off and back on it works fine again until stopping/almost stopping. When trying to pull away from some lights it revved upto 4k but only just to say started moving, couldn't go up a small incline. There was also no boost showing on the gauge (boost ok (only took it to - 0.5 bar) when driving) Any suggestions? Still smells of burning gearbox oil.
  19. Not been able to check the level, it's currently parked up on a side road in town. I'm hoping it is just low on fluid. What is the best type to use and how much does the box take? I might top it up and see if that makes a difference and then get it into the garage to have the lot changed.
  20. Hi guys, I've just been out for the day and on my way home I've lost almost all drive. It feels like the clutch slipping massively and only with about 4k rpm it will "bite" and start to move, leaving me stuck about 2 miles from home. There is a very distinct smell that I would say was gearbox oil (although no signs of it leaking onto the road). The car is an auto with a boostlogic box and after leaving it for 10-15 mins the car started working fine but only got me about another mile before "slipping" again. Any idea what this could be or the best way to get it sorted (car is a daily so need it fixing ASAP) I had only been driving up the motorway and no hard driving so a bit surprised if its overheated.
  21. I've often wondered this too. I bought the car that TDr built (#1 on stock twins drag times) and it is fitted with a boostlogic box with high stall and line lock. I haven't tried any hard launches yet but would I be right in thinking I'd need to stick it in drive, hold the line lock and raise the rev's to about 3,800 then, release the line lock while mashing my right foot?
  22. I think branners route will be the best option with it only being a few days. If there was more time then a good drive up the west coast and islands would be epic but the weather in October may not be too kind. Maybe summer next year would be more suited to a 3-4 night trip further north
  23. Get the bodywork sorted and drop a TT in it. Should even have enough left over to BPU it but make sure the box is ok first.
