    my t88 supra

Think I saw this at Teesside park about 3-4 month ago, looked mean as hell. Was tempted to talk to you as I'm seriously interested in getting a supe in the next few months but you probably would have thought "who's this pick in a citroen" lol
  2. Sorry, my bad on the mk3. Just make sure you check the insurance before you buy the car, i know this sounds stupidly obvious but a mate of mine who has a unit style workshop gets quite a few imports in for repair and one of the customers (he was 19 too) had just bought a TT but then couldn't get insurance for it and ended up selling it for a lot less than he paid for it.
  3. That G reg is a private plate and on the email from the insurance company it says the engine size is 3l, the mark 3 only came with a 2.5 twin turbo didn't it? Bit strange that the quotes then and now are so different. If your still thinking of the auto to manual conversion then it would work out a lot cheaper to get the auto, run around in it for a while till you have saved up a few grand and then sell it to get a TT6. Thats what I'd do in your situation. My plan is to get an n/a till funds permit me to sell it and then get a TT. I did think about converting an n/a or even na-t but from reading these pages and doing a bit of homework have found it to be a lot more cost effective to sell and buy again.
  4. Very poor advert for someone asking 20k!
  5. Forget the 306, citroen xsara hdi 110, should be able to get a low milage, clean 2003 plate one for that budget, or a slightly older sx with all the bells and whistles. Same engine as the 306 but a bit extra room and look alot nicer. If you want any more info then have a look over at http://www.cxoc.net Example
  6. I just hope no one was hurt in that clip, think the guy managed to get away from the car just as its going off screen
  7. It is a bit of a pain though when looking at for sale threads, if I see a car that I'm interested in then I need the reg for an insurance quote and hpi check. If the plates are hidden then I need to message the seller and ask for the reg.
  8. If you have to take it back then make sure he delivers it to you, don't go out of your way to meet him. Just like buying something online, delivery cost is never refunded. Can't see how you would be forced to refund him, the item was sold as described.
  9. Love the wheels on this but just look at the interior!! [sHOCK][/sHOCK] Clicky
  10. Bet that was some 16 year old with rich parents who bought it, spent a fortune at halfords, attacked it with a paint brush and then realised he couldn't get insured on it for 5 year! Well.... I hope thats whats happened and that no body has actually intended this car to turn out like this
  11. That saxo would beat a NA, if the owner is telling the truth (and who knows if he is) then it's supercharged (landrover supercharged badge on the boot lid) judging by the money spent on the car and the owner being in his 30's it's probably running over 230bhp and weighs next to nothing. From first look it's way OTT but the point in modding a car is to make it unique and to your own taste (or else there is no point) and if the bloke's happy then fair play but I can think of a much better way to spent £20k+
  12. But a "vette" wont turn or stop so why mention that? Ever thought that the guy may be after a good car for day to day use and for the odd quarter mile run? He also said the car was cheap (this was his reason for buying) so he could either spend £25k on a car he could use day to day and on the track or spend at least twice that for some american junk that will fall to bits in a few years, has medieval suspension and practically no brakes. Sounds like a no brainer to me
  13. I would be quite suprised if you had lost to the pug, if it was the gti6 then it has the same engine as my Xsara vts but my acceleration in quicker (due to the better ratio 5 speed box) and I have a few +bhp goodies. IMO I think i'd be able to hold my own against a NA auto supe up to about 30 but then once the supe has traction i'd have problems (just to note, i've never been up against a supe but have based this from other cars that have come along with simmilar power to weight ratios)
  14. Thats what I'm lookin at gettin at the moment Raven, an SZ. I'm hoping to get about £2500-£3k for my car which would be spent on a supra and thats all I can find within my price range. I'll be looking for a TT in a year or so when I can afford one but a NA is better than no supra at all lol
  15. Cheers for the warm welcome everyone. Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to get a NA to start with and then to replace with a TT in a few years rather than an engine swap? Is the engine the only difference between the NA and TT or are suspension/ARB's/Drive shafts etc different? Thanks for the link HateEvent, I found that thread about 5mins after posting lol. The VTS is 167bhp as standard and I have done a few mods to mine (Induction, Decat, Exhaust, PBV and Advanced the Cams) It is a 2.0l NA engine (same as the 306 GTi6 but without the horrible 6 speed box) I think the one I'll be looking at gettin as my first supra would be the SZ-R as I prefere manuals but if there is not much within my budget (pretty much whatever I can get for my car + a bit extra) then I'm sure I wouldn't be too put off by the auto box. I'm not too bothered about whether its UK or J-Spec insurance wise as I got a quote I am happy with for a J-spec TT and NA (not much difference which I was very suprised about considering i'm only 23) Din't get a quote for the UK as the Import NA would only be £20 more a year than my VTS to insure.
  16. Hey everyone, I'm Richie and from Darlington, I drive a Citroen Xsara VTS at the moment (I know it sound poo but it is really a good car and 180bhp surprises a lot of people ) I don't currently own a supra but am looking into buying one (now that the insurance isn't stupid ) I really don't know too much about the car (yet) and decided this would be the best place to find out. I will probably be looking at getting a NA at the moment as a TT is a little out of my budget and this will be my first RWD car. I've noticed from reading a few threads that a Supra isn't as simple as NA or TT, what are the differences between the models/specs and also, what are the differences between the UK and Imports? Obviously I want to find out as much as possible before buying and the autotrader adds are very vague so any info will be great
