rant KWIK FIT are a bunch of mugs and need to be skinned!
DSK replied to adnanshah247's topic in Off Topic
These places only exist to cater for joe public who see's cars as a simple means from A to B and can't care less about maintenance as he/she will send it to the likes of a a kwik-fit chain. -
Its shocking that when I did the plugs the coil pack connectors seemed ok, yet since they had started to disintegrate within weeks out of the blue leaving me stuck until I decided to get brave with a screwdriver. The OEM pipes again seemed like they would need replacing at my next service but they didn't look 'bad' in anyway.... today they fell apart.
-
what colour is that, look like a coco type of brown to me, should look great when polished up
-
The old ones were just falling to bits whilst being removed so when the car goes in next for brakes and oil service etc they will whack the new OEM parts back in as I have requested and it but the silicone stuff will see me through til then.
-
Also consider the availability of donar cars and parts....... so its easy to see why many use the ford/jaguar items. I looked into a Cobra 427 S/C Dax replica but I wanted the TVR Cerbera 4.5 V8 linked to a more reliable g/box, ideally suspension from something like a TVR etc... Whilst the above would have been a hell of a bespoke build I decided against it due to the complexity of having to have everything made bespoke like all the mountings etc, all this was beginning to get rather daft to say the least.

Upon fellow members (Ellis and someone else) recommendation I went to; Fleet Auto Care Unit 2 Freeth Street NG2 3GT (m) - 07860271939 I had all my coil packs and connectors done and they did the 2 pipes as well giving me silicone tubes as the OE items had perished. All I can say is, I was blown away as I have high standards so rarely am I satisfied let alone impressed but, the staff attitude, workmanship, going the extra mile and having people who REALLY KNOW (regardless of the nature of the job) what they are doing is a breath of frash air. I am taking my T5 there next month as I have been waiting for nearly 2 years for someone to be able to sort out a boost issue on it after I refused to use Volvo stealers since they inflicted the issue. Regardless of car they are awesome, but the owner is a member here, '1armbandit' or 'onearmbandit'. Has a Supra with around 600bhp and a couple of skylines. Labour is £45 p/hour and hand on heart the owner has blown me a away, highly recommended! My Supra is now running great, they told me to take a it for a quick spin to see if I was happy. With the t/c on the car was slithering along the road under the power, which it has never done before, now the acceleration is the same/consistent each and everytime I floor it.

welcome, hope you enjoy the new car

From experience, (on every BMW I've had), I always stripped and cleaned the injectors and re-fitted them with new rubber o-ring seals. The differece was two fold. IIRC AFR tuning have a fuel injector cleaning and flow testing rig thing. I'd get a second hand set, as mentioned have them 'serviced' and fit new seal rings if required on the Supra.

I like Clarkson's outspoken and childish nature. E.g when he thrashed the camper van on the salt flats with Jame on the throne and Hammon in bed. Also last week when he glued Jame's stereo on full James May I agree comes across like a pukka brit and can be funny.

Both the AA and RAC offer this, but from my experience you get this depending on the level of cover you go for which is usually the higher spec cover. I always get tight fisted family and friends asking me call the RAC for them, this used to get tedious as I'd have to show my face at the scene (therefore get there myself physically) but now I tell everyone to sod off and get their own cover.

its obviously a woman thing I came in, opened the door and its like being smacked with a fireball

I have suffered from this for over 2 months finally having a go myself at the repair. First time round it was a disintegrated coil pack connector & failed ignition coil and second time round it was a disintegrated coil pack connect. I have done 2 myself and taking ti to a garage to have the remaining 4 done. Misfires are usually ignition related so coil pack clips and coils are the most likely cause.

LOL if your cars that low IMO its just being daft (no offence). We see it all the time, even with quite low ramps we get the bad boys in the Focus 1.6;s, Saxo's etc justs skimming the tarmac, but they never consider how impracticle it to get a jack under there should you get a puncture or need to take the car to a workshop We are now getting completely flat ramps installed as we get too many of these max power boys in.
-
depends on the individuals concerned IMO. Some can get on well or things can be fine in which ever way you want, in other cases it can be asking for trouble.

Speaking of which, with the AA many many years ago, my BMW 325 sport snapped a rocker arm. You could see the broken arm through the oil filler cap hole! AA man arrives and insists its sparks plugs despite me pointing at the rocker arm. Then they send a crappy tow truck which could not be use on the BMW yet they insisted it could. I argued this with the info according to the owners manual and diagrams! Then after 2 hours they finally sent a proper tow truck.

thats looking very nice and standing proud!! good work

From a family members experience when you are covered for breakdown via the inusrance things don't always go smoothly, I ended up having to call out the RAC for them myself! Both do cover that starts from around £25/30 but its upto you what level of cover you want. Take a look on their websites to see what cover they offer at what prices.
-
I have been with both for years. Was with the AA for over 5 years but their service became pathetic and depsite having the most expensive cover, they still chraged me for comming out!! I then switched to the RAC, gain most expensive bells & whistles cover. Only every needed them once but they were fast and efficint compared to the AA. RAC all the way! Whilst I have never had to use them in recent years its nice to know that you are covered as its always sods law, you'll need them when you are not covered.

1 & 2 look good, 2 will look bigger on the car IMO.

Here's some pictures of the plug cover again, another on its own and 2 intalled in the car. Dam thing fell off the wheelie and now has a bit of 'road rash' so I'll have to spray the sodding thing again. Sorted 1 of my coil pack clips (it had disintegrated itself hence the misfire). Took me 1 f*cking hour, not 5 mins, but then put my cover on and took the car for a 1 hour blast (here's a tip, don't drive you car at over 150mph unless you want it covered in insects!). For every time I drive it, it needs to be washed

Piston Heads, Ebay, Supra forum classifieds will be you best bet. At the end of the day, if you need to sell the car it will have to be priced accordingly to get the phone ringing. If cars like yours are selling for £2-2.5K then thats where you have to pitch it. You could try advertising it for £3K etc but then expect some low offers.

As mentioned above the BMW 530d in M sport will be a nice choice. A 330d will be in budget as well but the 5 series is a much better quality of car. Volvo S60R (saloon) or V70R (estate) are seriously quick, fully loaded, spacious and uber comfy! A lot better than what people would belive on fuel as well which is a bonus but running costs are very high. Mercedes C270CDI. Considering these start at around £3K, for your budget you'll get a nice one. Audi A4 2.5 V6 TDi 180bhp Sport. (The 2.5 V6 TDI VW Passat's are awesome value for money and cheaper than the Audi as is the 2.8 V6 4-motion petrol). Jaguar S-type 3.0 V6 Sport, Jaguar XJ 3.2 V8 Sport SAAB 9-5 2.3 HOT Aero (fast, spacious, comfy and quite economical) - the 9-5 also comes in diesel variants as well.
