  1. Its a forgone conclusion. Of course they will. I bags first dibs on a Vogue as that is what I consider will be MY share of the baleout. Tw@ts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. pedants' as there are more than one pedant would be correct IIRC
  3. Credit where due to both PM's for the Irish problem but 'fantastic pm' for Bleurgh. We have to differ - in another thread.
  4. Exactly, its man that interprets the message to suit themselves. Religious leaders are often clever and manipulative people who prey on weaker people. A truly religious person of any faith would never do harm to another but a liar and a murderer would argue any case that suited their ends.
  5. Shame that religions use the sword, the bomb and the bullet to prove this on a practical level but lose sight of the truth in the statement.
  6. You bet they will. Paper rounds, baby sitting, bob a job week. They wont miss a trick mate. lol
  7. Stressed. Who the fo** do they think they are. What an idiotic waste of time. They should be shot. No that is too good for them. AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH Bloody 97% my a*se
  8. I am sure there are some good large stores out there but what about the little guys. (I dont have a vested interest in this. My business is B2B). My point in raising this is that the little guys should receive a greater % of our custom and the cash should circulate around all the economy instead of always going into the huge profits of the nationals. Many of you have commented that you dont have local shops. Why is that? Are we prepared to lose even more small businesses in this recession. Dont forget that every business that dies stops paying tax, makes staff redundant and loses revenue for Non Domestic Rates and generally makes the place untidy. It forces you to travel in your car to out of town centres and eventually limits your choice to what you are offered. Come on you small business owners have your say. Try to get people to support you.
  9. Sounds like you get funds then send on but the funds you receive are retracted several days later leaving you with a big hole to fill. Whats banks and FI can retract after many days and even weeks is astonishing. You unfortunately dont have that protection as it is from a personal account. Steer clear IMHO
  10. Yes Tony, I agree but I said she still shops there because of the convenience and there are times when you do need a packet of mince meat late at night just because you finish work late etc. The point is that we all spend a huge amount in one or two shops. If we spread our money around a little it supports the large number of small businesses out there that employ a lot of people, pay a lot of tax, keep the local economy going etc. The chancellor has got it wrong. He should be telling people not to forget the smaller businesses and spread their cash around. That would help the economy in my opinion. I am sorry if this is putting this thread off topic so I have started another one about support for small business and I hope everyone will contribute. Thanks
  11. Why not. You can get pet/home/travel insurance, electrical goods, clothes, pharmacy - and food as well. It wont be long before the only choice is whatever the nationals give you. Dont get me wrong. I am not saying don't use the nationals. Just spread your cash around where you will find a different choice and service with small independant businesses.
  12. My wife used to do all our weekly shopping at Tesco etc. Like any family our weekly food bill is quite large. All of that money went straight into Tesco and in return she thought she was getting a bargain price and convenience. For many months now she has been splitting her shopping. Some of it still goes to Tesco because it is convenient and on her way home from work but all the fresh stuff she gets locally. She is therefore supporting the baker, the greengrocer, the butcher, the local general store as well as the independant petrol station etc. The amazing thing is it costs NO MORE. In my opinion it is a great big con if you believe Tesco and the majors offer better quality and value. I firmly believe we should all try to support the small independant business where we can and especially where they are offering a better service, value etc. Spread what money you have around the smaller businesses. That will keep the economy in better shape than running out to Dixons and buying a new TV just because the 15%VAT will take £5 off the price.
  13. Yes, that is a big problem. I for one have absolutely no missgivings about reporting someone who was claiming benefits and working for cash. They are stealing from everyone of us and causing a massive problem for the country as a whole. HMRC say that if everyone who should pay tax did pay then everyone would pay significantly less. The black economy is stronger than ever and legit business like mine and thousands of others dont get a look in when people do it on the cheap for cash. Don't get me wrong I can see why people do work/pay cash but once you see how it affects a small legit business and the country as a whole it is very destructive. I think we all have to accept some cash going around but we should remember to support smaller and local business and spread our money around. For example - my wife used to do all our weekly shopping at Tesco etc. It is a great big con if you believe Tesco and the majors offer better quality and value. Local shops can give you better service, value and quality as well as a bit of gossip, a friendly bit of advise and they will often let you lay stuff by to pick up later etc.
  14. Yes, have been for nearly twenty years. I dont think I am alone on here. There are many traders, garages, importers, etc in activities relating to the cars and loads more members who like me are business owners in other areas. If you consider where you do your shopping and exclude the obvious big retailers the vast majority will be with small independant business. It will surprise many to hear that small businesses employ the majority of people in this country. .
  15. Thankyou. Its about time someone thought about how undervalued the small business is. Small business is the lifeblood of this country.
  16. Wait until the Govt loans need repaying. If you have any cash at all I suggest you keep it tucked up nice and safe. Do not spend a penny because when this all goes tits up in 2009/10 you will need it.
  17. "No incentive to work hard cos you just get it taxed! then again this is labour government and we now in the time where you can choose to be on the Dole and benefits instead of working." I run a small business and employ a couple of people and personally work bloody hard. I am here all hours day and night and carry the can for everything we as a company do. I have just done my company return and personal return and the first thing I said when the accountant said you owe this much tax (£Kmany) was WTF is it all for. It really makes it not worth while when I work out my pro rata pay it is no more than anyone else I employ so what is the point. They go home at six and I work every bloody hour to keep it all together so they have a job to come into in the morning and pay for twenty odd days a year holiday and sickies when they get a hangover. They are great people but TBH it is just not worth running a business. All I am is an unpaid tax collector for the government and my success based on my hard work and risk is unfairly taxed. More to be point it is unwisely spent so I begrudge it.
  18. Thankyou for the Heads-up. Seems like they are back again. We had all this over Summer trapping the tourists.
  19. I am afraid there is. Not a lot but certainly enough to blind you. You are correct that the pressure in the system is tuned to the loading but as far as I am aware that happens at point of manufacture and IIRC the gas is 'injected' past the seals in a charging chamber one batch at a time. My honest opinion is just dont even try it.
  20. Watch out for oil under immense pressure that will slice your eye balls wide open like a razor. That will hurt.
  21. you need an income of at least £3,200 per month I did not see any donations to charity in all that extravagance. Maybe a few quid to a charity would not go amiss if you get so much out of life. Personally I favour the RNLI, the air ambulance and the Mouth and Foot painting artists as a suggestion!
  22. This was bound to happen. Speeding is absolute and can be proven (like DUI) so technology is the obvious answer. Once driving patterns adapt to circumvent the technology such as slowing for Gatsos then new technology such as SPECS takes its place. People argue that speeding is not dangerous because the penalties are affordable and financial rather than affecting your liberty. ie four strikes in three years. Motorists argue that speeding affects the law abiding. If you have a legal car then you can be caught. If you clone a plate etc the law is very hard to apply and mostly depends on in car ANPR and sus'. Motoring laws generally only affect the law abiding and this adds weight to the 'tax' on the motorist arguement. In my opinion the government had no choice about doing this. It drives home the message that they consider speeding to be dangerous and answers a lot of the criticism they faced. However, it does open up a whole new can of worms. What about setting speed limits that are appropriate to the roads and the conditions so the motorist feels that the system is evened up a little. One thing is for certain - it will not stop any accidents at all. Accidents are caused by crap drivers plain and simple and there is a world of difference to doing 90mph on a clear motorway to some idiot half asleep or pissed in control of two tons of steel going past a school. edit - I also consider the other bill to include DUI with drugs a major step forward. This is one area that should have been tackled a lot more forcibly several years ago. If you DUI with drugs or drink you are the worst sort of driver in my book.
