  1. This is the picture in cylinder #4 this is the piston that has the debris trapped down the sidewall etc. you can see the top of the piston what looks to be a 'H' symbol. Ben thought (and I agree) that it looks to be an initial point of impact for the screw. The image appears to be the screw and the washer indented on the top. Apologies for this being upside down but you can see the image fine. This was on the top of the piston in cylinder 3 and appears to be an dent of some form. sad times.
  2. The plan is to join the many others for a TT engine hunt and go NA-TT. But if I get real fucked off with waiting then eventually I may drop another NA lump in there and just get rid of her.
  3. Well, I think we'll call it a day there. Ben (SZ-R) kindly came round to my house today with his mate Darren to look at the car and to see if they could diagnose what was still in the engine. So he fired it up first to see if he could get an indication of where the noise was coming from and told me straight away that it seemed as though it was buggered. We took out plugs 3&4 and had a nose round with the boroscope. The first one we looked at was #4 and it seems there is a chunk of piston missing. The surface of the piston looks like its taken a beating and there is a 'H' scratch on the top which looks to be the initial point of impact for the screw. Also, there are fragments of metal which have managed to wedge themselves between the sidewall and the piston so it is scratching the inside of the cylinder. So that would mean it would need to be bored etc. As this is an NA engine, I'm not going to bother with it. This is the 2nd GE engine in 12 months I've been through, I'll get some pics up later for you of pistons 3&4. Time of death: 12:55pm on Saturday 12th January 2013.
  4. When is the New Top Gear set to start?
  5. When a lot of things go 'missing' they usually end up in Manchester lol I joke I joke!
  6. My opinion is I like a TRD wing. I just thing it looks more 'powerful' in comparison to Stock.
  7. Excellent, I love a Supra at a great price
  8. How good is your relationship with Alpine Lee
  9. Just left the house so before I left I took a quick video as requested. It rattled when I initially started it then went away. You'll hear after quickly blipping the throttle that it comes back. Is it possible it lodged itself somewhere? Also after switching off the engine I went by the exhaust and it smelt of petrol and a burning smell? The car hasn't been fired up/revved in almost 2 months. Could this be the cause or could it be related to my problem? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH5TSUFiD5g Video #2
  10. Yeah, my dad went about that also checking the valves too. - - - Updated - - - Must be, possibility of a plastic object in there. Wouldn't have thought it would have lasted long though.
  11. Thats how we got the metal fragments out. Nothing else stuck to it
  12. Look through this PDF here: http://www.97supraturbo.com/1997%20Service%20Manual/Cooling.pdf It has both GE and GTE Original thread: http://supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?399297-NEW-1997-98-Complete-Service-Manuals&p=4704958
  13. Apologies for the ignorance here but speaking with Keron last night and he mentioned something to me. As previously I changed plugs 1,2,5 and 6 - then ran the car fine would that mean that the rattling noise would only be coming from 3/4? As the problem only arose after changing plugs 3 & 4 and the rotor arm, dizzy cap and HT Leads. The metal fragments were found in #4 so initially I'm assuming that something is still in either 3/4? However, not knowing a great deal about engines etc - woul it still be contained in the chamber or is it possible to jump around down channels 1-6?
  14. As above the front bumper is part of a BN kit. An acquired taste from my perspective. I think she'd look a lot nicer with a stock front and a nice lip (then again in bias) Will follow your thread with interest.
  15. I'll get another video of it running later today, if it stops raining and post it up. Then we can have a comparison to see if it sounds different. Boroscope would seem a logical step, but like I said, right now I just cant be fooked with it all
  16. This was a 2nd hand NA engine I had fitted by Keron earlier this year after blowing a HG on the old engine. - - - Updated - - - Cost me £600 supplied and fitted last time, sadly I'm slightly incompetent when it comes to engine replacement.
  17. I would get a TT transplant done tomorrow if one was available, sadly being an Auto there is a long waiting list to get it done. Best option would be to just sell this car and buy a TT Auto. I think you're right Dunk, although at present I just want to turn it into Coke Cans.
  18. Thing is, with this don't get me wrong I love the Supra its an amazing car and was years ahead of its time but to go through all this hassle on an NA engine just seems pointless. If it was a GTE then its reason to add various newer parts for increased performance/reliability but with the NA engine its just not feasbale. What do you guys recommend? Mobile Mechanic to run a diagnosis?
  19. Just had a call from the ol' man after giving him the news and he reckons the timing may be out.
  20. Not too sure, ill find out. Apparently it would be worth a fair bit now though due to the model he had. But he binned it YEARS ago. Well guys, the results are in. I got the battery back from Halfords this morning and put it in the car....turned the key and...... Still rattling... no idea what the hell it could be. I could also smell fuel before I shut it off. I have all the luck so that's 2 buggered NA engines in 12 months. I was hoping I would be able to go on a nice long blast and regain the love I lost for this car, sadly I have no love left.
  21. Likewise, the fragments look as if they've taken a battering. I'll be trying to fire her up tomorrow to see what happens and check for any irregularities and strange noises That is the only assumption I can come to if I'm honest. I can't see any other conceivable option of how it happened.
