A few people on here have passed emissions with a double de-cat, myself included. The same MOT tester has done my car for the last four years, he had to pull some tricks to get it through the first year so after that I always gave him a cat to put in. This year he put it through the new computerised system without the cat or any funny business and it passed no problem. Back on topic, i'd declare everything within reason - internals such as cams etc are unlikely to be detected, but an FCD is easy enough to spot. Decats should come under something like 'full aftermarket exhaust system', I told the cretins at elephant (who I wouldn't touch with someone else's bargepole BTW) that my old one was rusty and I only got the new one because it looked nice. As far as power gains, I wouldn't have a clue

Yeah, he gets down that way every couple of months or so. He is 'in talks' with a gallery in St Ives at the moment, most of his stuff is in the Barnstaple/Woolacombe area. St Ives is a tough place to sell to, they prefer locals and the standard is very high. The response so far has been ok, but the galleries generally take repeat local artists and fill up very quickly. When people see his paintings, they tend to selll - it is just getting them seen (hence this thread). For example, the local art society have a small exhibition in Aberdovey (the above harbour painting is there) near where I live every year, which is more of a sailing than surfing place, and he couldn't paint them quick enough to keep up with demand. It's a hard trade to make a living out of - very sporadic. Like I said, it is only a sideline at the moment but I think he would like to do it full-time eventually. Thanks for the interest.

No, he lives in the midlands. Growing up, we spent most weekends and holidays on the coast in Wales (where I now live) and travelled around surfing loads of places. He plans to move to North Devon in the near future. It's not cheap down there though As far as advertising, as well the website and ebay he does the odd craft fair. He has work in 6 galleries, mainly in Devon and Cornwall and I always sneak his business cards into surf shops on my travels. I try to wear one of his t-shirts when there is surf, or we go somewhere with surfers about Still mainly word of mouth, friends of friends etc.

I saw them in Cardiff last year, it was an excellent stadium gig. They didn't play enough old stuff though, nothing off 'One Hot Minute' either

He says he can, but it probably wouldn't be any good I'll give him a photo of mine to have a bash at. Charlotte: Thanks, the 'Pink Lady' painting is very popular, he has sold a few prints of it on ebay. Cheers for the kind comments people.

Morning, If anyone is interested in paintings, prints or driftwood gifts, please have a look at my brothers website http://www.surf-art.co.uk. He has totally self taught and does it from a spare bedroom at home. The business hasn't been going too long and 'Surf Art' is just a sideline at the moment, but he already has some work in a few galleries in cornwall, devon and Wales. Apologies for the blatant plug, his website isn't very visible yet and most his sales are from word of mouth. I'm just trying to give him a helping hand Any advise on improving or optimising the site would be very welcome Here are a some examples: http://www.surf-art.co.uk/PinkLadysmall.jpg http://www.surf-art.co.uk/PenheligSunsetsmall.jpg Thanks

If you've checked all the hoses and can't see anything, try running it in TTC and see what it boosts to.
-
As above, if you haven't heard of it - give it a miss. At the very least ask for a copy of the mag, then give it a miss.

My Supra was my only car the first two years I had it, I did about 15 miles per day minimum. I walk to work now and tend to use my Navara as I am forever hiking big things around for the house The Supra is very mollycoddled nowadays - only used for longer trips (nothing under 10 miles) and lives in the garage
-
Yeah, you are right. The post I was referring to is here. The 'ultimate' probably swayed me If I do pursue the emanage on stock turbos route, an 'ultimate' would be more future proof If I do go single at some point though..
-
Thanks again, Alex. Got RLTC already, I should have mentioned that before. I'm sure I read of someone who saw improvements with an e-manage on the stockers.

What about the hybrid option? I get the impression they aren't worth bothering with when compared to a T61 or GT35R. Cost isn't really an issue, I just don't want to spend a shedload on a single, mapping etc and find it doesn't suit my needs.
-
Ok, I'll have a look into it. As far as TTC, i'm in no doubt that a small single would be more responsive. I use sequential most the time, but switch it in parallel when I fancy a change or if the roads are a slippy. I'm still not convinced that even a small single would be suitable for my needs, optimising the sequential system and, like you say, response might give more bang for buck. Is it worth getting an EMU and mapping it for 1.2 bar on sequentials?
-
Thanks, some food for thought there. I reduced the boost to 1 bar to stop it overboosting in TTC mode. Also, the 0.2 bar extra didn't make much difference on mine. TTC does, I assume, give a more single-like delivery but the stock map makes it feel very sluggish off boost. I would hope a reasonably tuned single would be an improvement over TTC low down, but still give the a nice gradual power curve. I do go over 4k, a lot. I tends to be in second out of corners or third when overtaking for the most part. Alex, what would the best way to improve throttle response be?
-
Thanks, a small turbo is definately the way to go if I go single. Can you honestly say you have never missed the way the twins worked low down, especially on tighter roads? I am trying to justify the hassle of going single against how much use I would get out of it. It is such a well designed system in the first place, it seems almost a shame to scrap it in the quest for a few more ponies

I know singles have been covered to death, but I could do with some imput from those with 6 speeds and single conversions. I am more interested in what you lose low down vs the undeniable top end gains. It has always been my aim to get singled up at some point, however driving back through wales last night I questioned whether I would get the best out of a single, and whether one would suit the type of driving I do. Basically, I very rarely venture onto duel carriageways and motorways. 99% of the time my car is used on tight, narrow 'a' and 'b' roads, triple figure leptons are generally out of the question. They are probably 'elise' roads more than 'Supra' roads tbh, but I do think the Supra is very underated on the twisty stuff. I have the ETTC mod, which I appreciate is nothing like a well tuned single, but when compared to sequential I really miss the 'nippyness' the stock setup gives me for quick overtaking and hooning out of bends. I wonder whether I might be better throwing the cash at getting the suspension and brakes perfected? I currently have the following (relevant) mods; Running 1 bar with double de-cat (I took it down from 1.2) CW SMIC J-spec Bilstein Suspension UK Brakes F + R To cut a long story short, how do you single lot cope with the loss of the early push the 1st turbo gives you. Is it not a problem at all (especially with the smaller turbos) or is it just something you get used to adapting your driving style around? Thanks.

I was worried my car wouldn't impress enough, knowing what you've put into and got out of the cav. Especially as its only around 0.8 bar at the moment. I'm glad it did
-
No worries Brett, i'm glad you enjoyed it. You didn't take much convincing that a Supra is the car for you I had a good run back, back home by 5. Nothing much about to test my car but talking it up to you has convinced me to keep the Supe for a bit longer. Good luck in your search, like I said it is a buyers market out there and if you can wait til winter it will be even more so. If you need any advice or ever end up near Aberdovey, give me a bell - I can show you how they handle then Apologies again to your GF for the flying Chiminea Let me know if and when you get a single

Apparently not: "Having the Aircon ON in a modern car, uses LESS fuel than having all the windows open, which creates drag. And while it is true that you should always keep your windows closed for it to work at its most efficient......remember that you gotta blow air through air vants and ducts inside your dash board that are HOT AS AN OVEN..... So first thing you do, is switch on the Aircon, OPEN the windows, blow it flat-out for 30 seconds, THEN close the windows." Although, another site says it is about the same?
-
I was thinking about this, does having the aircon on use more fuel than drag caused by opening the windows? Supra aircon turns off at WOT, IIRC.

I've just read that chemists don't sell it anymore Maplin have it online here.
-
I remember being told that Boots (or other chemists) have it.

I've had no problems with Zen in the year i've been with them. They aren't cheap though.

I hate gold, it is a vile and classless colour. It's your car though, what difference does it make what we think?
