  1. If we have a bit of dry weather, the roads up here are excellent. Especially in the winter when there is no one around Evo magazine do a lot of their testing a bit further north of me.
  2. Yeah, its nice here. I wouldn't visit at this time of year if you are averse to walking in the rain and wind though! If you are an 'outdoors' type then you will have a good time. Personally, i'd do a tour and stop off a few places to see a bit more of it if you have never been before. Depends how much driving you want to do.
  3. I'd agree with the Gower and Portmerion Village, a bit further north the area around St Davids is a bit less touristy than the Gower with some good cliff walks. Tenby is ok, Solva is a pretty little village near St Davids. The Lleyn Peninsula in the North is nice if you like walking, there are plenty of castles around there (Caernarfon and Beaumaris in Anglesey spring to mind). Abersoch is a good place to stay around there, out of season. Llandudno is an old fashioned resort with a prom, pier etc that also makes a good base up there. Snowdonia is worth a visit, Cadair Idris is a good walk if you are fit and Aberdovey is a nice place to stay. Bit quiet at the moment though! I'd be wary of the weather this time of year though, it has been raining a lot here recently If you need any hotel/restaurant recommendations, let me know.
  4. Is it the 50PC1D? I'm looking for a 50" and it's between that and a Sony DLP rear projection at the moment..
  5. The car is still for available, i've just had a long-running sale fall through due to delays getting the private plate off it
  6. Annan had it in his sig first, try asking him where he got it from.
  7. Price reduced to £9500, it is booked in for a service and to have the bodywork tidied up after christmas. I'm away for from tonight until the 18th, so will reply to any enquiries then.
  8. Fair point, and one I expected from someone. I never buy anything for my business without researching fully whether it is necessary and cost effective, hence my post. The general concensus seems to be that is overspecced for our network, you obviously think otherwise. No company BMW's here, I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole
  9. A previous quote I had was for a HP Proliant ML, it was a lot cheaper but the quote is over a year old. The spec he is trying to sell me is £4200! Do I really need 5 HDD's and 4Gb Ram? A few people have said this, including the company that makes the production control software. I am not sure whether the extra power, functions and security a server brings are necessary. They would be nice though. I should hope it runs nicely for the price they are after. I don't want a system that will be out of date in a year, but don't know enough to say there is or is not a cheaper alternative. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  10. IT Folk, I've just had a quote for a 5/6 user network running Microsoft SBS 2003 and the server recommended is as follows: Dell Poweredge 1900 4 Gb RAM 5 x 73gb SATA HDD RAID Controller DAT 72 Internal Back-up Device 10 Tapes and 1 Cleaning Tape It will be used for running a fairly basic (not SQL) production control system and general office stuff. Please could anyone tell me whether a server of this specification is necessary?
  11. That sounds fine, can you PM a price? I'm not going to be online from tonight until monday, just so you know i'm not ignoring you
  12. Thanks everyone, if you could post or PM the condition/specs and what you are looking for price wise. We run a few multi-axis machining centres, Traub and Hardinge. They are used for bar turning and we are looking for a couple more in the near future, sliders probably.
  13. Partly, yes. It is more that the software to allow an XP based laptop to work with the CNC machines costs 20 times more than an old laptop.
  14. Not had much luck on ebay, so i'm after a basic laptop that runs Windows 98. It will be hooked up to our older CNC machines on the shop floor, so doesn't need to be anything special. As long as the A/C cable works and it is stable, it should be ok. Anyone got one lying around?
  15. Couple more photos, plenty more available... http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6351/othersideyd9.jpg http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/4625/baynz6.jpg
  16. I've still got a couple of these left
  17. I put them back last night with some food, water, shelter and a blanket. One stayed in the crate eating, but the other one ran off straight away looking for its mother. I think the one kitten could be domesticated quite easily, but the other ginger one is mental. It went for my Jack Russell from inside the pen, she ran out of the front door and off down the road. I checked on the kittens again this morning and they were both in the wood pile again, it's probably warm enough in there. I'll put some food out again later and keep an eye out for the mother, I hope she hasn't rejected them. I'll sort out some pictures of my actual pet, and my wild ones when I get back from Dublin. Thanks for all the advice
  18. Thanks, i've just got to find a way of explaining all this to my 6 month old Jack Russell now
  19. Cheers, very decent of you. I'll try to find a way of getting catfood through the company, pest control maybe?
  20. They look like cats, but smaller I took a photo on my phone, i'll post it up in a couple of days. I'm off to Dublin on business tomorrow and all this chasing around after feral cats has set my plans back a bit
  21. Right, i've spoken to the local RSPCA branch and they reckon I should put them back and feed them every so often with a view to catching them and having the three neutered. Not really what I had in mind when I caught the kittens this morning They said that because they are feral and over a month old, no one will take them in and they'll get put down. I'll turn over a shipping crate onto its side and stick some blankets in it for them. The mother is definately wild, she is has been living around the factory for a couple of years. I've seen her on and off all summer, hunting in the woods.
  22. A few people have said that about the mice, good thinking If it was spring, i'd 100% leave them out there. I'm not sure they will make it through the winter - I am no expert though! A farmer on the way home said he would have killed the kittens, to save them suffering and dying over the winter If I can catch the mother, problem solved. If not, I think i'll leave it up to the vet
  23. The one kitten was bad enough, hissing and scratching from under a crate. 8" long and it still made me jump, I have a healthy respect for cats claws. I might be able to lure the mother with one of the kittens, but i'll probably end up getting my face scratched off.
