  1. i'm pretty sure availability of 'standard' toyota disks is not an issue, just that aftermarket / uprated ones are not readily available, and even if they are, are not necessarily any better........ er yeh like Simon said
  2. "Just for information purposes around about +45 all round is a safe bet in terms of handling etc although it may not give the look you are after as it tends not to fully fill out the arch's." Cheers for that kevin, i'm going for a 9" wide rear (245 tyre) so i'm worried about the wheels not filling the arches adequately. I was looking at getting a 45 offset but with 9's this will leave me half an inch less full in the arch (than the 10's & 45), so i'm leaning now towards the 38 offset option.
  3. 100% Gaz / Kevin will have got you the 'right' offset so you avoid any clearance prob's. But no its not changeable. Spacers can be used to move the wheel outwards, but are apparently best avoided if possible.
  4. As i understand it, basically standard offset is 50mm 10" rears will fit, but lower than 50 offset will move the inside of the wheel effectively away from the shock and the outside toward the arches. So your 10 x 18's may need to be less than 50 to avoid the shocks but say not less than 40 or they'd rub the arches. Note these are just examples i don't know the range. There is a spreadsheet that can tell you want won't fit and why but i'm just curious as to what is the recommended 'norm'
  5. Kevin or Supraguy, what offset is recommended with 10" rears?
  6. If you have a TT, access is tight. I've heard of people moving the Power steering reservoir to get access from the top, or removing the engine undertray and getting at it from underneath (this i spose is dependant on whether you have decent access). The filter will spill a fair amount of oil (probably seems alot more than it actually is, but certainly enough to make a mess) as you unscrew it the last few turns, so maybe rig up a bag into which the excess will run and into which you can let the filter drop, or at least something to channel the excess away to a drain tray. just hope your filter isn't done up as tight as mine was.

    Brakes

Neil, i'm trying to get my brake fluid changed and CW race spec pads fitted this week. I could then let you know about the 'from cold' performance and if you wanted you could have a go to see what you think. The uk calipers are notorious for not fitting under alot of aftermarket wheels, not saying they won't fit but IMO its unlikely. Should be able to tell this to some degree if someone at the guildford meet has got uk's you can compare to.
  8. mkiv.com has some sound clips of the whine associated with imminent turbo failure. I doubt it is this but it should hopefully put your mind at rest. here and click on "recorded mechanical problems"
  9. I have removed myself also from the list re earlier post. 1: Pat 2: Pulse 3: Bobbeh 4: Baldy 5: Lovatt 6: Adam W 7: Steve 8: Dan 9: 10:MfS 11:super fandango wide wheels Daz 12:Matt 13:AndyP - RX7 14: 15:

  11. Trig The 26th....... BTW for anyone coming up the 'A3' for the Guildford meet, the slip road you require is the one AFTER the one for the 'University of Surrey' and 'Cathedral' On the slip road stay in the right hand lane. Take the 2nd exit on roundabout (bears left) continue under bridge and past PC world on your left. At lights straight over (past Halfords etc on left) next lights is the Stoke interchange as mentioned, straight over in its on the left.
  12. Is Nitrous oxide /Nitrogen dioxide / Nawsssss (whatever) not an option?
  13. "SteveW (is coming or I'm gonna kick his butt)" You do realise that to Steve thats not really a threat more of a come on:D
  14. I would think a viable route (if there is such a thing for this sort of project) would be to buy a NA aerotop for around £7-8K and a 6 speed TT for around £9-11K. then strip the auto NA and do the necessary transmission tunnel mod's that i think i've heard are necessary (get it resprayed) and then transfer all the TT internals across and then sell the spare TT chassis and auto NA bits. If you had a manual TT already, and could do alot of the general mechanics yourself, i reckon you could end up with a Royal sapphire pearl, 6 speed TT aerotop for a net outlay of approx £12K, or standard base colour with no leather for sub £10K. £8K - NA aero £5K - Towards adj to aero chassis and transfers of TT to aero shell (assumes alot of DIY) £3K respray + cream leather retrimmed seats with maybe £4K of bits left to sell. This is all just pure speculation and could be miles out. I have no idea about the issues of if, for example, the NA wiring is adequate for all the TT functions or any of the numerous other problems of which i'm ignorant. It just seems to me that if you have both types of car then your parts problems are sorted it is 'only' a matter then of swapping the relevant bits. BTW I think all of you auto to manual conversion wannabe's are mad, but would love to see one made.
  15. Steve you always seem to be tied up lately..........don't they ever unchain you for good (or er would that be bad?) behaviour BTW where has your H Bomb gone?
  16. sounds good....... Supragal HISUPE Faye SteveW2 Trig10uk Scooter
  17. I'm not 100% on the price, i just made a general enquiry about changing the dash to blue when i contacted Pete betts to confirm my Dyno slot. It's not the sort of thing i'd be confident doing myself and as you indicate it seems to be a labour intensive job rather than a high parts cost job. Some may think its expensive but so are most things for the supra
  18. like Pulse i managed to get mine done at pod too, therefore if someone wants my slot (9. Scott) its available. I will still probably come along to check out the place and peeps in general but am unlikely to need the dyno time. well worth the money IMO, whilst Pulse was dissappointed on the day, the fact is via the dyno he has found out about a problem of which he was previously unaware, which hopefully should be cheap / easy fix that will liberate +30 BHP. It highlights that whilst we drive alongside and see many supra's, we rarely get to drive any others and so cannot know if our cars are performing to their best. Do you KNOW your car is making its reputed 320ish BHP. 260-70 is still gonna feel fast and will probably not arouse any suspicions of underperforming unless you have a wide experience of supra's of high powered cars in general. Also do you know for sure if your car is set up in sequential mode? Putting it on the Dyno will tell you this for certain. (BTW I have no commercial interest in THOR i'm just trying to get my spot filled on their behalf after they kindly fitted me in at Santa Pod)
  19. knowing 200sx's tendancies towards body kits etc i presume he means just getting the green dashboard (aircon etc etc) lights changed to blue. Pete Betts is the man, he said it would be a fair few hours work and i can't remember the exact figure but i think you'd be looking at +£200.
  20. Far i wondered about the disk play but this is normal / OK Read here Most likely to be wheel balance IMO.............
  21. My pleasure. BTW it would be nice for me to blat down the strip again in a UK manual TT
  22. How abused can it be? One jap owner (they're all careful & caring aren't they:cool: ) First UK owner imprisoned it in a garage and second UK owner well he's er.......well er..............ok it's me............but how much damage can i do in a few months:innocent:
  23. less of the old! she's already upset about the prospect of having a 'for sale' sticker slapped on her:D
  24. Yeah don't worry Bob I should make it:D
