  1. Matt i've seen cars with drilled/slotted non corroded disks (like Wez describes) and uk spec calipers (there's one such car at Magnum Motors in Farnborough at the moment if you fancy looking at them in the flesh) Also you can paint the uk calipers as i remember someone (poss Gordon Flynn?) doing nicely in the past.
  2. Just FYI, i got one of these recently and whilst i believe that they are an option on all supra's there may be a problem re the undertray. Far (anyone) do you know if the front undertray section will be retained with the new bumper (i'm thinking no!) Ben does your currently spoiler less car have x2 slots in the undertray an inch or two inside the two slots where the towing points come down? If not you will need Far's type of undertray or leave off your one. I mention this as i was looking to fit one myself but my undertray has no slots for the active spoiler mechanism. Given this, the following is a bit of a long shot! but if Ben has the slots in his undertray and you (Far) have no use for yours once the new bumper is fitted, could i have it so i can have another go at fitting it?

    Which wheels?

Seb, some nice wheels here and most available with clearance for UK brakes

    Hello All

Tony, i don't think all the sub £10K cars should necessarily be avoided. There's sometimes wealthy supra owners selling unmodified cars at approx 'Parkers guide' type prices just to get rid of it. Also IMO there are some cars at 12-13K that are probably no better but just 'owe' the seller more.
  5. Nice to read a story with a happy ending. From the numerous threads i've seen your initiation to Supra ownership has not been pleasant! Lets hope you can forget all about pressure tanks and VSV's for a while and can just get on and drive the thing!
  6. By MCanny Still yet to fit mine but by all accounts they are way better in feel / performance than the standard pads. I would think they cost approx double that of the standard pads at £275 for a full set of j-spec ones. But you know your getting a good pad, there's no chance of problems like people have had in the past re green stuff etc pads + i would think brake pads are at the very worst an annual replacement item. So we're only looking at £140 additional cost for a year. But the real value IMO can come from the enhanced driving experience it brings ie it adds to every journey made in that year = good vfm?
  7. The 6 pots might not be a complete waste if they fit under your current wheels. UK calipers often cause clearance issues with aftermarket wheels. I expect 6 pots would too but there may be some 6 pots that are thinner than uk 4 pots. Uk brakes + new wheels = not cheap. May be more sensible short term to try, a CW or Porterfield pad type upgrade in the standard small (i prefer that over crap!) brakes.
  8. By "V" I don't think so. I've seen plenty with standard 16" wheels and therefore the smaller brakes
  9. Stephen, my boot latch does the same, boot rubbers and struts are fine. I think it may be a cable adjustment / latch problem. Can be a PITA but its not annoyed me enough for me to look into it as yet. I'll let you know if I sort it in the near future.
  10. Nick could I ask what you had pre the chris wilson stuff, was it the standard setup or a different aftermarket one? If it was the standard setup what did you think of it in general?
  11. True:D......just a novelty post in the now rarely frequented 'Technical' section. And as its non tech talk i spose I'd better shut up or we'll be forcibly escorted to the chit chat area:cool:
  12. I thought rule No.1 was Nobody talks about SZ club
  13. was just clips on my old car, it takes a fair enough of force to get it off. Start carefully at one of the corners and once the first clip is released it should be easy from there.
  14. Will more than likely be going to that and / or the Bluewater thing. I agree about the pubs near Abinger but not so sure about the roads for a convoy of Sup's. Plus most of the regulars are more worried about the quality of fuel fed to their cars than the quality of their drinks...... Could try and organise a little meet at Box hill before Christmas on one of the current no event (are there any?) weekends, or possibly organise an early 2004 Monday meet. If I were you I'd try and get along to some of the ones already being organised and tag along in the M25 convoy.
  15. Sheena, were you last out of the car park on Monday? if so thanks for letting me out in front (the very standard blue one). I'll keep an eye out for you round Dorking way as i work in Abinger Hammer. BTW anyone care to tell me where the doughnut action happened, i'm always interested in big and local 'bollard free' tarmac areas.
  16. keeping an eye on the weather, but am up for it. maybe provisionally 7-7.15 at the shell garage?
  17. Dude, do you mean the retail park with the Burger king? (its the only place i know that has cruises) if so then the place is about 1/2 mile away. At the lights at the exit of the park chuck a left down a the short section of dually. At the next set of lights straight over and the pub is on the left after a hundred or so yards.
  18. The blitz back box is made to fit the original twin branch exhaust, so you'd need one of those too if you haven't got your original one. I do have a Tanabe hyper for sale (no rattles) if you were happy with it? Can mail pic's (too large to post here) if you like, only want £100
  19. Is your back box the standard one?
  20. yep 8 and 9..... The 45 and 50 profile could be a facelift or NA thing. My original NA (93/94) had 245/50/16 per the 'door frame sticker' whereas my current 98 has 245/45/16. i think this means the rolling radius is affected by 12ish mm or rolling circumference by 77mm.
  21. bar very bad weather i think i'll go too:)
  22. Jake you've probably noticed this already but as posted earlier... "BTW for anyone coming up the 'A3' (ie northbound) for the Guildford meet, the slip road you require is the one AFTER the one for the 'University of Surrey' and 'Cathedral' On the slip road stay in the right hand lane. Take the 2nd exit on roundabout (bears left) continue under bridge and past PC world on your left. At lights straight over (past Halfords etc on left) next lights is the Stoke interchange as mentioned, straight over and its on the left." i just mention this as the next junction along is a mile or two and getting back onto the A3 southbound at this junction is not straight forward.
  23. That is indeed good news. So much for my pessimism! BTW i take it your obviously happy with the way the car handles given your recent owned posts and no general comments since you've had it. its just that i'm trying to see if in the real world the change in offset is noticeable.
