  1. for all out performance mounting them a bit further back really wouldn't be a problem, the reason OEM's mount them so close to the head is usually for emmissions to prevent fuel dropout and the fuel is vapourised hitting the back of the red hot valve, for peak power mounting them further back would help cool the intake tract creating a denser charge, however the distances we are talking about here i think this would be negligible
  2. it would be do-able, on the feed side you would just need a non return valve after each pump but as Tony points out the plumbing headache would be the returns where you would need a solenoid valve in each line that would be activated with the relevant pump, none of the hard plumbing and wiring would be rocket science but the variables again as Tony points out would be how do you know when your running on race fuel and as flow rises in the fuel system what would happen if a slug of normal fuel found its way out of a static leg when your at high boost , i think the only realistic way of doing this would be a seperate system
  3. forget the "two man method" as its prone to error, i find the easiest way is to use the non return valve tube gadget you can get from Halfords they cost about £6, you can pump away to your hearts content without having to constantly keep tightening the nipple (and running the risk of snapping it)
  4. the sub frames that you have look like Cobra ones, these are about as low as you can get without bolting it direct to the floor, you can use harness's ideally you would need a harness bar or you could use the rear seat belt anchor point, dont use any of the front seat anchor points as this is dangerous
  5. good write up Tony, with regard to the burette and probably more for other peoples reference rather than yours, i got mine off this guy on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Burette-compression-ratio-100cc-Vol-Turbo-Supercharger_W0QQitemZ140310706539QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item20ab2b796b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 £40 delivered
  6. touch her Dyson its more than my lifes worth
  7. hey Gaz i've allready told him that lets not give him to much praise or he'll get complacent and start posting up cr*p
  8. i would have loved to have done it with carbon/FRP and did consider this but i have seen things go kablamo at 1 bar pressure let alone 1.6 + that i plan on running and with the volume of air in the system there would be a lot of stored energy, i could easily do a pressure test at work but i just think there are to many variables that i cant replicate like the heat and the hydrocarbon exposure so i'm going for good old fashioned ally, and yes i do find it theraputic and used to do quite a bit of "tin bashing" in a former life , as for the design the pic is what i am aiming at and i have a home made flow rig under construction to make sure i get the flows balanced
  9. bumpety, bumpety, bump, price reduced
  10. bogged down again waiting for some more machining doing on the plenum intake bellmouth to body adaptors, i have to get these done before i make the plenum as they need to line up smack on, once i have these i can start on the plenum which is what i enjoy best, beating aluminium sheet into shape
  11. holy cr*p, just did a search on L96 sniper rifle, £23,000 each, that would buy a very tidy Supra, admitedly probably not quite so usefull in Helmand though
  12. allthough i dont necesarily agree with why we are there i would 100% support the guys (and gals) at the sharp end doing a tough job, top respect fella and stay lucky
  13. slight criticism but you forgot to remove the wash wipe nozzle on the rear hatch
  14. Dan i think your wastegate entry back into the main system is a text book example of how it should be done, nice to see your putting some thought and research into this build
  15. i have Cobra Imolas with the Cobra subframes which were a PITA to fit but i couldn't ask for a better seat height, i am 5ft 10", i could take a measurement from the base of the seat shell (cushions removed) to the roof lining tommorow if its of any use
  16. I think all the pros and cons of air to air versus water to air have been pretty well discussed in this thread, its not really a question of heat soak more efficiency, yes you could get a water to air chargecooler to achieve the same efficiency as an air to air but the complexity is the killer on an application such as the Supra that lends itself so well to air/air chargecooling, there really is nothing what so ever to be gained on the Supra by using water to air, you would be adding weight with all the extra components/coolant and an electric pump to deliver the water would be a head ache and require maintenance. The only benefits i can see of the water/air chargecooler are where there are packaging issues (eg mid/rear engine) or running a power boat where you could use sea water to achieve near 100% efficiency
  17. i think it had a run in with John Connor
  18. god that car is like the terminator
  19. i think the beauty of the Treadstone copy with the amount of metal is you can basically machine whatever size you want, a 50mm wastegate port would be quite easy, I enquired about a year ago with Arnout and the answer was a most definate no, which is a shame
  20. as promised and for posterity here are the before pics of my unmolested manifold , the only difference with mine compared to Dans is i went for the 4 hole wastegate version, the Treadstone manifold is basically a re-manufactured version of the old Induction Motorsport manifold but with a much beefed up wastegate area to alleviate the over boost issues that the I.M manifolds suffered from, i believe Wez has the original I.M manifold with the wastegate area welded up to solve the overboost issues, Wez runs just shy of 600hp so these manifolds can deliver
  21. point taken, i'll try and get on it tommorrow
  22. there is a tolerance limit for the tensioner as stated in the service manual, mine was outside this so i binned it and got a new one, cost about £50-£60 IIRC
  23. , looks like some very big drops if you get it wrong
