  2. found this for mocal coolers http://www.thinkauto.com check out the transmission cooler section talking about cooler in line with the standard rad, anyone know the optimum operating temp for the auto box ?
  3. well thats me told had avons (yeah we all make mistakes) pirellis and contis and thought the toyos were the best yet how much are the GSD's as it seems the way to go in the future
  4. 911 better handling than a supe in the wet, ahem rear wheel drive on both cars, your having a laugh, just admit you fell for the Stutgart badge on the front LOL ps the badge is all i have left from when i totalled one (in the wet)
  5. gulp (deap breaths) mine are 18's about 150 a corner, the wears pretty good i have just changed the fronts which were on about a year and a half (were down to the canvas though so not quite year and a half) obviously the backs dont last this long
  6. i stand corrected if charlies building a "special" however i still dont think it good idea to run without thermostatic control, i dont think the auto box has any oil flow control as it feeds oil direct to the rad even when cold to help warm up the box, i think it then just relies on the overall rad temp to control its temp, i'me not 100 % on this, it seems the boys in know are'nt letting on, i suppose you cant blame them as they want us to buy their oil cooler kits
  7. dude dont like to disagree with a respected member on the forum but having worked with hydraulics for the past 20 years i feel i must, oil temperature control in a heat engine/hydraulic system is massively important, the hydraulic machinery i worked with had software limits that would'nt let you touch the machine until it was up to temperature, on your car that is producing xxx amount of hp and driven like a F1 no temp control of the oil may be ok but on a daily driver on modest power driven in the middle of winter the oil may never get up to temp with an oil/transmission cooler with no thermostat, this WILL wreck the engine no ifs buts or maybe's it will, simple as that, i think its a bit miss leading to tell everyone to junk their thermostats or not fit them

    New Jag

So, would I buy a new Jaguar ? Hell no, once the model is a few years old and they've sorted out the issues then maybe. Oh, and I wasn't the only one with a problematic X-Type.- quote~muffleman kinda makes you wonder how manufacturers like rover and jag stay in business when you read stuff like this, but then again they need bailing out every other year - i wonder why, my wife insisted we bought this rover she saw "cos its a luvely colour" and evertime i get in the feckin thing something else has either leaked, failed, blown up or fallen off, the purple perils days are numbered though lining up a nice little Yaris for her
  9. sorry mate forgot about the oil, i paid that for 4 litres about a year ago but i think someone was on recently stating that the price of the type 4 had gone through the roof try doing a search
  10. disconect from the radiator completly, get an oil stat (demon tweeks do em) the ones with the four ports on them, they do not block the flow but by-pass most of it at low temp (a small amount go'es round the cooler to maintain system pressure) and then at high temp they open bringing the cooler on-line, i stand to be corrected but i would not use an oil cooler without a stat, cold oil is just as bad as over heated oil
  11. have you got standard j-spec rear brakes as these are notorious for sticking, mine went on the passenger side, take the car for a spin nothing dramatic just sensible driving then feel how hot the disks are my drivers side was warm to the touch and the passenger side, well there was the smell of burning flesh and a lot of swearing
  12. the LF-A looks great but if produced i'me sure it wont be a super car for the masses as the supra was, it took 8 years for the supra to depriciate to 10k so i could afford one, i'me sure for the majority on this board the LF-A will be as remote as a ferrari or lambo, 500 bhp cars dont come cheap
  13. toyos all round, i have'nt found a better wet/dry tyre yet for the money
  14. why has the world gone off turbo charged petrol engines ? it cant be fuel consumption as surely a 3.5 litre na is going to be no more economical that a 3.0 turbo, is it just a fad, i'me confused, its bad news though as its a damm sight easier to crank up the power on a turbo, guess i'll have to stick with the mkiv
  15. its a long time since i plumbed mine in but this is what i used off http://www.mkiv.com http://www.mkiv.com/manual/1995_electrical_manual/I/95elec_060.JPG
  16. you will never do an easier mod mate, i got mine off japandy on e bay second hand for £100
  17. the ssqv is a louder version of the stock bov IMO, its nothing like the cheapo crap you hear on old bangers,
  18. absolutely no difference mate, just noise and looks, mines a hks ssqv, sounds great
  19. does that mean their not very good mate lol, i guess its the luck of the draw, Grange-over-sands at the gateway to the lake district might be a touch out of your way, i ordered a head gasket set from them the other week and they delivered it to my door !!! thats a 50 mile round trip

  21. neil dont be worried to go with your requests to toyota, my local garage are very helpful and the guy on the spares counter has come out to the car while i point like a muppet at bits of trim and he has then found them on the computer, after all they want your money so its in their interest to sought you out, plus if they cock up with the part number its their fault, if you cock up you'll be liable for the cost
  22. nope i have first hand expierience and now i have no airbag bulb doh !
  23. hi paul just a point to bear in mind, i bought a cheap de-limit and speedo converter and it did not adjust the cruise control or power steering, the p/s on the supe is progresive (at high speed less p/s) this made the car twitchy as hell at speed and potentialy dangerous because the p/s was still getting the old signal, i soughted it in the end but it was a PITA, i would make sure whatever you buy adjusts the p/s and cruise con (if you have it) as well as speedo and de-limit
