hey, I'm looking to use this box on my supra now, do you know if the tunnel accepts the box with a 20mm spacer plate on the back of the 2j engine block in a mkiv? I don't want to bash out my tunnel with a hammer as that's rough I'm more than capable to have the prop made, gearbox mount made, shifter rear mount made etc, just curious about actual box fitment in the chassis I'm planning to use the GS6-53DZ 6 speed with a stock bmw sachs clutch for daily use just now then eventually move onto the pmc kit with triple plate tilton clutch kit when I fit my gte engine

yeah got one thanks it's in the boot, just haven't put it back on yet as I left them off incase I'd needed bumper off to solder indicator loom (without realising it's easy enough to access with headlights out) will be attaching the bumper on with all 300 mounting points before it's on the road speaking of which, I need to do some research on fitting a fmic and retaining the active spoiler, gte plans are go haha!

subscribing to this will be cool! I think alex macrae tagged you in one of my fb posts when the painter sent me an orange paint pot and I'd uploaded a screen shot of it with my car in the background on fb. I'm impressed with this and I bet it will look awesome when done! a rep of a truly iconic car in the beginning. what gauge pod did you get?

fixed that stupid issue the odometer had with the mph converter adapter, the odometer counts in km's and the speedo reads in mph now, rather than the other way around

mph converter wiring issues? supra guru's needed
jonny mac replied to jonny mac's topic in mkiv Technical
SORTED car's not actually been on the road yet since buying it so this has been a job on the list of things to do. I've been waiting for a sunny day to roll it out the garage and work on it don't know why but the previous keeper had mixed up the odometer illumination wire with the ground causing a signal to go against the earth wire, this caused the odometer to receive a false signal and was causing it to climb slowly when the lights were on when the car was stationary all fixed now, I cut out the old mph converter and rejoined the two wires back together matching up the blue/red strip wire to the other half and the pink wire also, going to run my own mph converter now wired in my way so I know it'll work and be done properly! -
makes sense as to why they wouldn't fit the rear then need a set of rear ones now! thanks for the help!

Item:- w58 manual gearbox + clutches Condition/Mileage:- unknown, all parts were bought second hand from various people trusting their word (I'm not to be held responsible if these items have issues) Price:- £950 Postage: courier available at buyers organisation/cost, Collection From: happy to meet buyers in/around aberdeen gearbox is a w58 5 speed manual, it came from a jdm import soarer that had been converted to manual, it has a remote shifter linkage and a 2jz bel housing the gearbox I was told is good condition but I'd never personally drove with it so I can't vouch for it/be held responsible for any whines or crunches etc, it engages all gears fine however on the floor with the shifter when being tried out there are two clutches, one 6 puck performance clutch, also an exedy single plate clutch disc and pressure plate (has a small break on an edge of the clutch disc from postage but cover is good) pressure plate bolts too flywheel inc crank bolts will come with a release bearing, fork, slave cylinder, spigot bush for crankshaft front section of propshaft will also be supplied, it fits into the back of the box and you'll need to use your existing supra middle bearing onto it as the bearing on it was retained for the soarer's body shell when removing box from car w58 gearbox mount rubber bush will also be left on the gearbox Pictures: all I have at the moment, one of the box bel housing removed to clean up and reseal the front input shaft cover please don't judge by a poor advert with poor pictures, I'll get the parts down from my storage shelf over the next few evenings and photograph absolutely everything laid out on the bench for people to see the reason for sale is, I don't see the point in me fitting this box to a single turbo gte engine when in reality it'll not last very long and give me problems at that power level so I think I'm going 6 speed with the supra now

yeah i've had one up there before but wasn't too keen on it tbh, didn't feel like it made much difference the car needs to have a heater matrix as i live in scotland and our weather isn't up to much... haha

has anyone got an aftermarket coolant swirl pot on their supra? I'm considering adding one onto my build (2jz s14) because I've had trouble bleeding the previous engine before, I think a rad cap located at the highest point in the engine bay would be great, it would also allow for no more air to be trapped, deaerated I can't find any install documents 2jz specific online as they all seem to be for sr20's and so on the engine sits so far back in my car that there isn't any room for heater matrix pipework to go by, this means it has to go over the rocker covers and resulting in a higher point in the system than the rad cap, makes bleeding it fun... ideally I'd like to know where people take the 'from engine' feed from? is ok to use the pipework that comes from head for the idle control valve and throttle body the only downside is a small amount of coolant won't be going through the rad if it falls back into the lower hose?

mph converter wiring issues? supra guru's needed
jonny mac replied to jonny mac's topic in mkiv Technical
Sounds right for me tbh. Make it as easy as I possible haha. Only rejoining two wires and snipping the back 4 off the speedo. Any recommendations for speed mph converter to buy ? -
hi guys, I noticed last month or so there was a 1jz with ecu and loom for sale from a track spec supra for 500 quid anyone got anything like this on the go? I sold my 1j I had for the supra last month but I could do with making a good engine out of the two and probably doing a 1.5jz for the supra using the ge bottom end

hi guys, currently have a mph converter wired into my car, I know for a fact it's not done right, here's the deal, when you turn the lights on, the odometer trip starts counting. no matter what gear you're in, if you're parked in P with the handbrake on it still does it lights go off and it's perfect and won't climb the trip so, I don't know if this is an issue the car has had since before I bought it, the only thing I've changed is the rear lights to facelift ones (prefacelift car) I've no idea who installed the converter or what make it is, today I took the dash apart to inspect the wiring of the mph converter here's what I found: the plug behind the tell tale dash panel has had the pink wire and blue/red striped wire cut, they have been joined together on the original loom and then a wire ran into the back of the white plug (where the blue/red one goes) that wire then runs back to the rear of the clocks which by my calculations following the circuit board goes to the blue/red wire too (so he's remade the connection) the rest are joined to the back of the clocks like so: the only blessing here is that the car would have recorded more mileage than it actually has done on the road so technically it's a lower mileage supra than indicated on the dash haha I don't have a pinout for the converter unit as I'd like to check it was wired in right but my thoughts are to cut it out, rejoin the factory wires behind the odometer and start again with a whole new converter that's proven to work good on supras....any advice would be great

ls400 brake caliper upgrade help, rebuilding kits?
jonny mac replied to jonny mac's topic in mkiv Technical

-
hi guys, just bought myself some ls400 front brake calipers for my mkiv I was told I'd need longer bolts through the hubs to hold them on? the 12x1.25 thread pitch anyway, reason I'm here, I have found that 3/4 pistons on one caliper has split torn boots and stuck pistons the other side is perfect however I need a rebuild kit, I think I can get away with reusing the pistons. is ebay the only place? ideally I'd like a rebuild kit that I won't have to redo again in a year because of cheap rubber boots etc
