Hub dyno and rolling road dyno differences, The truth.
wallis replied to JamieP's topic in Supra Chat
Torque is as important as bhp if not more and the delivery of it to have a fast car. A question I keep asking myself is if two cars have the same amount of torque but different bhp , would there be any difference in performance? I see allot of bigger bhp cars losing more and more torque the more bhp bhp they get? Most of the best cars have similar bhp to torque if u look at the figures. -
Just reading the posts, there is some confusion regarding the rr! Nic is bang on with his info, however if u have a boost controller and try and set it to higher than 1.1 bar and it doesn't increase, this is simply due to your current rr doing its job, basicslly working. If u loose the rr completly u still have complete control of your boost but with out limitations, and u could boost to what u wanted then, obviously something would go pop over 1.2 bar with your current set up!! So I would just leave your set up alone for the sake of 0.1 bar, as it's all running within a safe level! Or change the rr for the bigger one but be carefull as other people have said in regards To it increasing over the 1.2 level on cold days etc, just make sure the boost controllers set to no higher than 1.2 and u should be fine fella.

Anyone using water injection systems on there singles?
wallis replied to wallis's topic in Supra Chat
I'm betting my left festival that the HKS decat should sort out the restriction problem and EGTs mainly, it was only really from the advise of Ryan and a bonus if it did help to give me extra safe boost! -

Well ive just had an email from eBay about the AEM water injection kit, saying don't send any payments to the seller blar de blar!! Was just about to try and order another one for £40 more, but maybe it's not a good idea then from the sounds of it....maybe a blessing in disguise ;-) Cheers for the feed back might save some penny's and forget about it unless Ryan thinks it will work! -

wallis replied to wallis's topic in Supra Chat
Yeah Its only Ryan that will tell me if it's done anything ;-) Yeah I did think that mate, but Ryan suggested it so I'm guessing he thinks it's going to aid on higher boost levels. Im fitting the basic kit myself costing around £350 and Ash is just fitting the injector so it's not too bad cost wise as a back up if the new decat section doesn't quite get the EGTs right down to where they need to be! It's only $150 for the exhaust piece so I'm not spending much really to get it right. -

Yeah defiantly true mate, but seems a good option for me for added cooling, I've got my nos kit in the garage, even thinking of getting the intercooler jetted up to kool that down to help me on higher boost settings......lol Oh its hopefully got a new home already, I'm just giving her the sending off she deserves dan ;-) -

I'm aiming for closer the 600bhp if safely possible, and from recent events the whole for sale thing is under evaluation now due to costing on the project! Fingers crossed this is going to be getting some very interesting results for a gret street set up !!! -
Just ordered my AEM 5 gallon water injection system and wondered if anyones running it with there current set ups? Interested to know how people got on, seems a big thing in the states with some good 10-25% gains overall!! I'm not quite sure why it's not used more often from what researching I've done lately for keeping EGTs down and condensing the air's intake? Really interested to know peoples thoughts on this any imput good or bad ;-)

Lol....good old Jaime ;-) It's great to speak our minds, makes for good reading imo. But you have got it wrong mate I'm just getting the bug back, going to order the 3" HKS 1st decat section Monday morning and have just ordered my 5 gallon AEM water injection kit, cars going back to Ash's in a few weeks to be fitted up and once Ryans done some tweaking on the map, I think it's going to be great for 550bhp+ with a shit tonne of torque hopefully across the full range, and instant spooling! Then the car will be finished with a new price tag to follow ;-) Sorry Jaime for seeming aggressive I really was just messing about so apolagies on my behalf :-( -

They were all done on a dyno dynamics, but my car was done at Gagare 786, so it's only a guide ;-) Finally someones read the post ;-) And I think understands what I'm trying to get at! I totally agree with what your saying as well, to most people it's just about bhp figures and nothing else is important! -

These are not on paper results mate, the GT35 set up is Caseys data and the T67 is DanDans set up data, All I think with Ryan Gs maps, all real set ups with variouse a/r sizes and cams etc, members own data from there own fast rd car set ups! so I agree and for a min let's just forget about my actual results in this comparison after 4k rpm point, as I have said EGT's were getting higher due to my exhaust issue, now if let's say I changed my exhaust so it flowed more and the EGT's dropped and the boost was raised to 1.4 and I hit 548bhp and 560ftlb of torque which gave me far better mid-high range levels, this would be great results for the GT30 for instant spool and a great torque/power curve in comparison to the other set ups results. That's my original point that everyone's missing here ;-) !!! -

Will everyone stop going on about this 40hp please......lol It's currently over 200 bhp more than what it was when i first got it as stock over 8 years ago, thank you !!!! -

wallis replied to wallis's topic in Supra Chat
Jaime theres hardly any other supra in the Country which would even come close to your set up ;-) I'm just comparing to the above comparisons as this seems to be the short list to the best street set up, im not talking about 700-1000bhp cars.......different kettle of fish completely as u know! Again im just using information from that pacific dyno run for the comparison, my car is running slightly higher, and has been running higher for over a year, as I've said with the modification of the exhaust it would easily and safely achieve well over 500+bhp, with the water inj with more boost were looking at closer to 600bhp from a tiny GT30, pretty impressive going if u ask me! A simple question I would like to ask is if a 558bhp car producing 500ftlb of torque was compared to a car making 477bhp and 500ftlb of torque which would be faster, or would they be the same?? My answer is the same, but any input and thoughts would be apprieciated guys, cheers ;-) This is exactly what im saying that torque curves are important, but fast spooling gives low down torque where other set ups lack in the figures shown above with the GT35 and T67 comparisons. -

On the contray, quick spooling is important for a fast street car! I will be finished paying whilst your still counting your change if u get my drift ;-) In an inline race I would for example rocket ahead only for a larger turbo to catch me up further down the line, I don't know many 200mph roads where I live that I could get that fast down so it doesn't personally interest me! It all boils down to the perception of this chase for masive bhp, torque is the only thing I'm interested in and that's what ultimately makes a great street car in my opinion. -

Again my point was about a fast spooling street car, I don't disagree with anyone in regards to mid- high range power, but if I could up the boost and get a few more hp, this is a great street set up! -

Ok Jaime I see your point from the bhp aspect but my point is if u look at the figures mainly torque all I'm saying is the gt30 is looking good!! I made a point my spooling was starting from 2000rpm the other day hitting full boost almost straight away and I'm still sticking by it ;-) I will put the dyno up tomorrow when I'm home not on the I phone. With a few modifications at a very low cost my set up is on top for a very quick street set u, prob the fastest I've seen, that's all I'm saying mate!
