The 70 was a slightly cut down version released due to the low sales of the flagship 700. Its virtually identical apart from one less hdmi and a lesser sound system. I dont think the 700 accepts 24hz input though.

The pioneer 720 50" screen is still 2k without a stand or speakers! I did 3 months of research and went for the Panasonic PZ70. 1080p and a little over half the price of the pioneer! The pioneer IS better, but not twice as good. The only thing that the pioneer does that the others dont is true 24hz handling. This really threw a spanner in the decision process for me, but I decided I wasnt prepared to pay the premium for it. I have given up trying to describe the issue, but basically under some circumstances, a small number of people will detect judder on slow pans on hd movies. Anyways, my tv arrives tuesday, cant wait!

So are Paramount and Universal etc gonna start releasing their films on BD? - edit, I guess so, but have they said so/when? I love my TVs, but I was completely uninterested in HD until I started going around the shops looking for a new TV. Its blooming fantastic.

The user manual should tell you what resolutions and refresh rates you can use.

Are you going to watch much standard def (freeview/sky)? You really need to go and audition the sets yourself as 2 different people will describe different sets as better quality (supposedly).

Thats interesting because I am the complete opposite. Having auditioned a few screens with standard definition content, I found the LCDs awful by comparison. I was all set to get a 46" Sony V3000 until I saw the SD on it. I am going to get a Panasonic plasma.

Well the frames are all 5cm x 5cm but the actual film varies on some of them as in this pic...

My dad wants to get around 100 old slides scanned/converted/digitized "on to the computer". I have found a couple of companies on the net, but am reluctant to send valuable slides to a random company. So, does anyone know of a good service/company?

Thought I would put up my intentions on the subject. Basically I want a 40ish" flat screen for watching mainly SD. From reading the AVForums, it looks like plasma with 720 is best for SD so that is what I am probably going for. I dont really have any particularly useful input but I will always remember a thread I read on an RX-7 owners board. The supra one was stuff like "you know you're a supra owner when, a girl asks you if you are single and you pop your bonnet". Anyway the rx-7 one, baring in mind this was the owners speaking, was "you know you're an rx-7 owner when you go to the meet and everybody there has turned up in the daily drivers as their rex isn't running."

For me, it would be, facelift headlights, clear indicators, job done. Possibly mesh the back of the "mouth", if you felt the need (black mesh though). If I got another Supe, it would be completely stock body, not even oem skirts. I just love the clean look, and yours is pretty much perfect imo.

Ok thanks everyone for your help. This whole thing has come about because I am basically a miser lol Obviously she was not happy with with my proposal and whilst I was only trying to work out was mathematically "fair" it is possibly not the right thing to do. So I will go with her simple solution of getting back what we put in and splitting the rest 50/50. Cheers
