Yeah but music, like all art, is very subjective. I don't deny that you might be able to understand how to make it on some level. But if you don't like something, how can you understand what it is that makes it good, what seperates the great from the mediocre?
For what it's worth I love a huge variety of music, from classical to rock. But my favourite is noisy dance music. It's an aquired taste, like everything unusual. I am a good example of a producer of the mediocre lol, I know how to sample a good sound such as a distorted kick drum, and put a big discordant offbeat stab, with a sample of an old famous pop tune. I play the keyboard too, so it's not like I don't know anything about music. But I can even see myself, that I don't have that extra genius that is required to make something really good. You can take a tune like Now is the time by Scott Brown, and try and say what makes it great. But if you could REALLY do it, you would be producing it yourself and making some money.
Like, I say, if you think you can do it, write a tune and play it to a record label.
