  1. thanks RedM - been looking at a few of them but mostly are out of my price range. It does depend on how much I get for my current car though.
  2. Thanks CJ - - It's not that I can't decide on one, I wanted to hear other peoples comments and recommendations for reliable motors in that price range. I can make my own decision, but would prefer to make an educated decision rather than stupid one. Personally, I actually thought that a car forum was the right place to ask! I've not actually owned many cars (bar my current car I've only ever owned 1 other) I don't know what's worth bothering to look at. Thanks anyway though.
  3. Hey all, With a slight change in plan in my future directions, I may actually need a very cheap runabout to keep me mobile until the funds for the Supra have been finalised. Ideally: I'd love something in the VAG range, but certainly not restricted to this Something not too slow (probably above 1.3L engine) Cheap to insure Cheap to tax/run If it's easy to work on/maintain, perhaps I could tackle some of the basic jobs myself (oil changes etc) I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to this, but as the car would be cheap it wouldn't really matter if something went wrong. Obviously I've thought about VW golfs, but is there anything else that's worth looking at? I don't really want to spend any more than £1k inc. the insurance (should hopefully be no more than about £100-150 for me) What do you lot recommend?
  4. Gone all out this week - now also on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130200701536&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=003

    How sad am i

you should be banned from owning a supra, and only ever allowed to own a vauxhall nova. Seriously. lol - only kidding. But man, WTF you on???
  6. Yes, that's all true I suppose. I think I'm going off on a tangent to this thread, as I am totally FOR the price increases on alcohol/fags etc (things we don't rely on) but I'm just miffed that the prices of necessities (water/gas/electric/petrol) increase more regularly, and of course this affects everyone on a much larger scale, as it's not like we can cut back on them.
  7. Now on autotrader. Price on thread should read £5700, not £6200, but I can't change it. Sensible offers considered.
  8. I think maybe I missed what I was trying to say: Everyone works for a company who aim to make profit. Most companies make a profit, yet that profit is not passed down to the employee's. Examples: Shell/British Gas etc etc all showing that they've got record profits in the £bn region - but does that money go to employee's? Does it ***k. I work for a big bank who put up their interest rates, charges etc and yet still make £££'s profit. Where does this profit go??? If these companies are making record profits this year, why the HELL do they still need to increase prices?!?!?!
  9. Edit - my car is on there now, but not with images yet. So that's it up online inside 3hrs.
  10. well I've just put my car on there this evening. They say that deadline for next mag is monday at 7pm, and it takes up to 24hrs for the advert to appear online after submitting.
  11. Wow - lovely car. What sort of costs are involved to get one of these, and then get it to the UK?
  12. wow - well said that man! pretty much covers what I was going to say It's Always price increases in this country, never decreases. And still we don't see an increase on wages that even remotely covers these extra costs. The future is bleak. Whether you drink or not.
  13. 39. Suprised really, as I spend most of my days on the internet etc at work, and when i get home too.

    Little B******S!

It sickens me, really does. Does anyone watch Red Dwarf? In particular I refer to the episode (can't remember the name now) where they were in a place where whatever they did to someone/something else was immediately done to them....... would be great to have in the real world
  15. spend a bit more and get a manual conversion hehe
  16. I think there seems to be quite a variety of comments on brake disc variants.... the trouble is, I can understand and agree with each arguement, so I don't know what's true... For example- Grooved Discs: They "look good" and apparently the grooves help to disperse brake dust etc. However - the grooves reduce the contact area with pad, hence reducing their effectiveness. I suppose at the end of the day you can't go wrong with solid discs.
  17. Hi mate - welcome! The supra you link to is 1,500 pounds more than your 7,000 budget, so not quite sure how much you plan on spending. But - that supra USED to belong to a member on here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=102302 Thanks go to Gaz Walker for the link - he found it for another thread recently.
  18. that's where I recognise it from! I keep seeing it on PH (I think there is about 3/4 adverts for it on there now) but I remember seeing the thread on here last year. Looks lovely!
  19. I've been speaking to Sam via Pistonheads as I was interested in his car, and wanted to see if he was interested in taking my current car as part ex. Alas he doesn't want it, but I do really like his car! If my leon sells I may well pursue it further!

    Manual Aero Top

ahh, that would explain why every Aero TT I find is a 93/94 then! d'oh - i knew that too, but for some reason was hoping there would be a later one! haha

    Manual Aero Top

awwww i dunno then - but whichever it's cheaper than I said! yay! My plans would be to single-tubby the car anyway, so probably need an uprated clutch at same time

    Manual Aero Top

My bad - nobody is ripping me off (yet) - I seem to remember Jezz saying it was about 3.5k for the lot, but then I think Rob is right - that may have included a new clutch too.
