  1. nickjohn - what insurance policy do you have - and who is it with? I searched and searched - and NONE of the policies i found allowed me to drive other cars until I'm 25. They ALL had a clause saying if under that age that part of the insurance was Null and Void.
  2. when do these engines start to struggle then - as in become too old to run economically, without replacing lots of components etc..? I know its a very open-ended question - could be anywhere from 0+ really - but just trying to get a rough idea. VAG cars are said to be really "hardy" and go on and on like a duracell, but I think after 140k its pushing it tbh.
  3. i know i'd want lower mileage on my supra... but being oldish cars now i suppose they're all going to be close to average miles, which for a 10yr old car is nearly 100k... so on that assumption, yeh
  4. u got it - thats what i think would be easiest... I'd say - right - i want skirts - so i'd go into the skirts section and have a look. I wouldnt go - yeh, i want veilside - i'd need to see the different designs, and then chose from there
  5. been looking through some of the meet threads that have pics - i'm sure a lot of the pics from, for example, the lake meet, could be used to show the different kits/bumpers etc...
  6. so they say - not currently the case mind... However, mate who did the same masters as me (and i lived with) is on double my wages - how jealous am I???!!
  7. yeh - admittedly a 17 yr old having around 10-15k to buy and insure a supra (for a year) before tax/petrol etc to get it home is a LOT - 12k was my entire student loan that kept me at uni for 4 yrs... But, it seems that none of this phases him! We've all repeatedly mentioned these, so if he still goes ahead then he must be willing to go ahead with it - and fair play to him. Hopefully some of what has been said has been taken on board and he doesnt go and regret blowing all that money.
  8. hehe... u and me both buddy I am getting impatient, i've been dreaming/wishing for one for ages now.. another 2 years is just gonna be impossible! Hope i can get one sooner!
  9. yeh, sorry if i've seemed negative towards you in my posts - so i'll take this opportunity to wish you luck, and i want to see pics etc if you do go ahead with it... I must say I'll see what you come up with for ideas for mine when i get mine in a few years
  10. out of interest, what have your parents said about this? I assume it'll be their garage you'll be occupying for the next X years, and I know my parents say things about my choice of cars now (even though i don't live with them anymore) AND I'm 25!
  11. each modication you do to the car is going to push the price up of insuring it when u want to insure it. If I was 17 and getting a 300+ bhp car then that would be FAR too much power to be contemplating, let alone modifying the car to give 400bhp+ (which i assume you're going to be doing if you're modifying for 3 years or more) I'd have thought the supra would need to be driven in that period to keep it running at all? Engines don't like not being used - car batteries will be exactly the same, and then to switch it on u'll have to drive to the nearest petrol station with a jerry-can in order to fill it up.. and what about warranty on the kit you are buying to install on the supra? they'll come with a warranty (usually a year, but depends on part) and if its not going to be used for 3 years, then u'll get it out on the road and the parts might be faulty? I'd have thought to keep a car like that you'd need to get it out on a private test track or something occasionally to make sure its running ok - and then insurance for that as well...... EDIT: you've answered some of it Moral of the story - £££'s £££'s £££'s
  12. is it going to be IN a garage?? or on a drive? Insurance won't cover you if u say its in a garage (indicates LOCKED building) and its parked on the driveway.
  13. insanity i'm afraid - have to agree with the others. I hope you're not doing it just so u can say to ur mates - i own a supra. Because it won't gain you any credit, especailly if u can't drive it. A supra needs to be driven - you'll be throwing money at it to keep it alive while it sits there, PLUS your modding money. And its going to take a good 3-5yrs to make any proper impact on your insurance costs - so £XXXX to insure first year, £XXXX second year.. you might be lucky for 3 figures in about your 6th year... I'm 25 and insurance on an import is still 4 figures - I have 6+yrs no claims bonus. (UK car is much lower mind) Seriously, sorry to say, but walk before running.
  14. hehe.... told ya it wouldnt be easy

    Scam?

no paypal - walk away. its a bank transfer (ok slight cost to him) but with insurance. No reason to refuse it.
  16. tricky - but i'd probably do back/shoulders/whatever, but not chest. Would itch like hell when it grew back.
  17. Pabs

    Scam?

that all said - i risked it once. A guy with rating of 1, brand new to ebay, listed over 150 tomtom's - ones, go, 510 etc etc. Seemed really dodgy, but something slightly legit about it. My dad got one - it turned up! I ordered one - that did too! Now got a rating of over 200 i think. Some factor outlet place selling them all off cheap. But anyway, I certainly wouldnt risk it with that auction - not unless you can get some kind of insurance. Might be worth asking if paypal is possible... can't see why not.
  18. Pabs

    Scam?

well, all bar the fact he won't take deposit in cash, only by bank transfer... and he won't take full amount, has to be 10% straight away.. then full amount on collection? WTF?
  19. Pabs

    Scam?

but look at what else the seller has on ebay for sale http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FERRARI-550-BLACK-2000_W0QQitemZ120019028032QQihZ002QQcategoryZ18180QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  20. Pabs

    Scam?

he/she/they have had 1 neutral feedback out of 12.... i'd stay well clear.
  21. Pabs

    Is it viable?

out of interest - what sort of costs are involved to do this? I'm assuming theres a limit to what turbo you can put on tho - so its not a cheap way of getting a big single turbo?
  22. sky ALWAYS beat my other quotes - so i got a quote from them, got AF or similar to beat it, then back to Sky and they bettered it again! Try it mate - my car insurance went from £950 quote down to £550, and the £550 was including 25k/year mileage, compared to the £950 for 12k sdcp!
