  1. here we go again... do a search mate - threads very recently cover same subject!
  2. was it you? Not 100% on number plate, but was a silver Supra, gold alloys, you passed me and the missus in her Yaris SR at M3, J6, at about 10am this morning... looking good
  3. sorry about being a pleb here, but seeing as this thread is here.... what do the extra gauges on the facelift dash show?
  4. I had an AWESOME day with the SEAT Car Club! Was fantastic - we managed to get 80 cars on the stand in the end - all in colour order, and all really shiny Was hunting for Supras all day, and was disappointed. Saw a couple, one with a HUGE wide bodykit and one with enough stereo to kill a man.... Shame not many Supe's were there, but was an awesome day!
  5. damn, that plate should be on my SEAT CUPRA..... grrr
  6. i think u'll be needing a new thread for that, and perhaps some better punctuation, before you get flamed
  7. i didnt even bother to watch it all... got bored after about 20seconds.
  8. pre-modified storming away with this one now....
  9. LOL - I must admit the VAG range can be strange... My SEAT's been fantastic, *touches wood* - the problems I have tend to be with the modifications
  10. cool - thanks for those comments I'm learning more and more every time i log onto these forums! I will still modify even a modified car, as I want to get it the way I like it. I think personally I am coming around to the "buy modified" option from the two, as it will save me money, but still keep me very entertained. Just so long as I get one thats been well looked after and the work has been done properly.
  11. ratings seem to have separated slightly - modified is winning by a few now
  12. what I mean by get used to it is not necessarily the power, more along the lines of the RWD aspect, handling in the wet etc. My current car has 240bhp approx, and you can use some of the power on public roads - quick starts and the like. Not top end - and indeed i don't intend on doing that anyway.
  13. was about to say exactly that - they buy em, pay for the insurance from their dole money, and rag them until they fall apart. They don't maintain them, probably use 95ron supermarket petrol and don't tend to give a damn.
  14. i have to admit, and i don't own a supe yet, that i'm seeing more and more "chavs" driving these cars than ever now - and it must purely be because they are becoming so cheaply available. Last one I'm certain had a 17yr old behind the wheel. That worries me. Its good for me to see prices come down, as it means I can afford a better example when i come to buy. But on the other hand it means they'll be far too common.
  15. that is definately 1 option, but may be too much work for me, and I can't see it costing much less UNLESS the initial purchase is nice and cheap!

    Breed on eBay???

i wonder why nobody has asked what "breed" is? I'm certain it should be "bread"......
  17. Wow - this is turning into a really good debate Some fantastic info there guys... Thinking about the experience issue (25yr old and never driven RWD), I think I could perhaps get some form of tuition, and perhaps take my car somewhere big and open for a few days, and get taught how to handle it. This might be a good idea with a stock or modified car.... I LOVE Burts car! I'd certainly be tempted with buying a pre-modified one from here, as I *THINK* I'd be able to get other members to vouch for the time, effort and quality of the car. Supradibbs car was in JTuner this month was it not? Saw a picture of one just like it on the turbofit review... Nice I always like to, if possible, buy a newer car over an older one, just because theres less likely to be underlying issues of rust or worn components (although strictly not true i suppose - depends on mileage). I've seen some nice 1997 standard (ish) Supe's about on ebay/autotrader etc.. but whether or not they'd be worth it I don't know... Anyway, its still a close call on the poll! Std has it by a slight margin!
  18. oh, and another angle to take into consideration: I'm 25, and never had a RWD car. Would going straight for a modified, higher powered supra be wise? Or should I get used to a standard TT first, and then up the power as and when I'm ready? This would also mean insurance is cheaper to start with - although I will have 7yrs NCB next year...
  19. do you think that spending say 13k on a supra would get a modified car thats worth buying over say a stock TT at around the 10k mark? Or would you have to spend 15k+ to get a decent pre-modifed example?
  20. wow - excellent responses guys! thanks for the input so far! Basically I think I'll have 3 possible choices, each with their own merits: 1 - Import from Jurgen - either Stock or Modified 2 - Buy from these forums - can also find out about owner, and how car has been looked after 3 - Buy from autotrader - stock or modified - but risk the history all together. TBH, buying from the forums would be the best option, IMO, if I was to buy a pre-modified car. I could find out all i need to know. If I buy stock, then I'd probably go for import through Jurgen, i can imagine its fun importing, although the wait would kill me! I purchased my current car as bog-standard, and I've modifed it to hell and back (lol) - its been a huge learning curve, but just recently I've found that I'm getting a lot of problems. Now, I can't figure out why - I'm paying for top-quality parts and getting things done professionally - but its annoying me so much that I just want rid of the car altogether. And totalling up how much i've spent in mods, I recon i've paid 11k for the car, and about 6k for mods on top! When I come to sell, I'll be lucky to get 8k with everything! But I know the fun is modifying, and even if I purchased as modified, I'd change a lot i think - probably bodykit, colour, and interior, wheels etc etc. I think my plan is to make a top-notch road car. It has to be comfortable to drive in, and it has to look good at the same time. (the main reason i love the supe) But it won't be a daily driver, it'll be a weekend car. Its just so damn hard to make up my mind.
