Telephone Etiquette

So i go to the toilet the other day and im standing there about to let go when one of the cubicals rings. The phone is answered and the male voice asks if he call them back later. It goes quite and he carrys on talking. Now to me that is so wrong. There is no way i'd answer the phone while in a public toilet. Is it me or is it alright to talk to someone while taking a dump?? If i was on the other end and had heard a splash i would have been disgusted :( Am i on my own??

I have posted on the forum many times whilst taking a dump (the joys of wireless internet!!) but I would never hold a conversation whilst "straining my veg!!".

My wife has sometimes come up to the bathroom in the knowledge that I am taking a dump and passed the phone through the door and said "Here, it's your dad" etc.

I don't want to talk to anyone whilst I'm crimping one off. I don't understand some people!

I've answered the phone at home and proceeded to the bog for a dump :D Must admit it was a mate of mine and I would never do it if it was my mother on the phone for example. I see it like this. If you would talk to the person in a public toilet across the partition whilst taking a dump what difference does it make if its over a phone or not?

I went out to a restaurant with my sister once and I borrowed her bag to go to the toilet (lipgloss in it or something). Anyway the phone rings while I'm in the loo and it's ringing like loads of times. It's my sister's phone so I'm thinking there's no way I'm answering that.

By the time I'd got back to the table it had rang 7 times. I told her I thought someone was trying to get hold of her and it turned out it was her loser boyfriend checking up on her (glad I didn't answer it I hate him). She had a go at me and told me I should have answered it. I couldn't do it.

OMG How did I get two paragraphs out of that?!

Anyway speaking of phone etiquette, what's the latest you can ring somebody, 10pm?

I have spoken to my good friends while taking a dump. They think its funny, I suppose thats kinda immature but I don't care :p

Charlotte - There isn't a latest time you can ring somebody. If they don't wish to be contacted they should turn their phone off or put it on silent.

I was drunk the other week and talking to a random scotish guy in the street about Rangers Vs Celtic etc and rang my mum (her husband is a Scott and he supports Rangers) at 4am to ask which team her husband supports (I'd forgotten) It was her fault she answered and couldn't get back to sleep for a couple of hours after she told me, hehe

If anyone rang me at 4am with a question like that, the next time I saw them I would imagine it would take a damn good surgeon to get their mobile back form up their arse!!:(

Yeh... lol, she wasn't best pleased, but shes not big enough to shove my mobile up my arse :D

Like I said, if people don't want to be contacted they should either turn their phones off or put them on silent. Problem solved

Anyone actually got a landline phone installed in the bog???

I can't think of anything worse than curling one out while trying to hold a conversation... Although I have been known to answer the radio at work while having an 'urgent comfort break' A mate reckons that the term for responding to a job from the bog should be 'making on brown' rather than 'on blues' :D

No prob with it. do it all the time. Do it at work if i know its a college or friend.

p.s no later than 10 unless you send a txt saying can i call or the person is expecting a very late call

Sorry, when i said public toilet i just meant one at work that get's used by all there.

It's not just the conversations - it's hearing the subtle click-click of people answering email on their Blackberry eminating from the cubicle that gets me ... I've previously made a recommendation that all techies at work are issues disposible latex gloves for handling all mobile devices

That doesn't work with older land line phones though.

I would say 10pm was about the limit, unless it's my or my wifes parent/s ringing, after 10pm I'll just let it ring and ignore it.

Anyone rude enough to call after that time deserves the rudeness of being ignored.
