Muffleman
Okay, I'm after a lappy but I don't have £1k to spend. It's going to be used mainly for plugging into my AEM, but will use it for general stuff too. Just found this site, http://www.medion.co.uk and if you look in refurbished notebooks, there's one for £199 - seems okay to me ?

Muffleman
£200 seems a bargain, so I've ordered one of those Medion laptops - will let you know if it's any good mate
RobSheffield
Thanks Matt! I know they do reconditioned ones at a computer fair near me, but they are scruffy old IBM Thinkpads, and are usually about £100. Might pop accross next time it is on, it might be worth a try! Knowing me ill break it one day
DannyW
Ive been after one for a while to use in an in-car setup that im planning. Ebay seems a waste of time and £200 seems a little steep as i don't even need one with a screen, just the computer bit.

DannyW
I just bought a laptopfor mapping off ebay for £55 But no bloody OS on it There are loads on there but generally always something wrong with them, i got outbid tonight on a real nice one with a cracked screen (i dont need the screen) but it went over £100 so i let it go. I need one with full o/s and stuff as i'm a bit crap with software so wouldnt know how to go about installing one from scratch.
supra steveo
i wouldnt mind one but i would have to be able to play Battlefield 2 on it
Sheefa
i wouldnt mind one but i would have to be able to play Battlefield 2 on it You're looking at circa £800 mark anyway then mate with a decent XL800/6600GT series or better graphics card. Widescreen also helps I could try and get a few older ones from work if they're up for grabs. We've just had a full XP rollout upgrading from NT and all have new laptops. Therefore, there should be quite a few older DELL Gen ones available and some very old IBM Thinkpads - but not sure if they're good enough. Ebay probably is your best bet unless you've got £400-500 to spend when you can pick up some great deals at most retail outlets. Here's a couple of links, but they're not great I'm afraid: http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/ - I got one from here but new, damn good prices compared to other online retailers. Probably your best bet is here: http://www.laptopsgoingcheap.com/ Greg

PM me the spec matey and I'll let you know, clearly taking my money and posting me a laptop was just too difficult for Medion Apparently Staples do some good deals so gonna pop in there this arvo. michael
I picked up a Fujitsu L7320 from Dabs.com a month or so ago - £300 as it had been returned (unused) without a modem cable and original box - it's been pretty good, even more so with the extra 512mb of RAM I got on eBay for £15 Well worth looking at the cheaper ones on there and then scrolling down to look for the reduced price returns. Right now this seems to be the cheapest: http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=43H1&CategorySelectedId=11105&NavigationKey=11105,4294963788&InMerch=1 eBuyer have a few bargains at the moment: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/store/45/cat/Notebooks/Laptops Aria have a cheap Dell: http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.asp?Category=95&SubCat=LAP&Name=&Page=1&SortBy=1 Or if you fancy a challenge I have 2 IBM T20 laptops that when combined will make one very nice working IBM T20 (one has a motherboard issue, the other a screen problem - both could probably be fixed but I can't be bothered
