International Incident

Here you go :

Hi Guys

Remember the days when we couldn't get out of here fast enough and on to our own home grown forum where we could post whore as much as we liked and share information freely without fear of having threads deleted or being banned for posting Pron advertising goods for sale or promoting ideas that may be in conflict to those of the mods.

Aarons site promised a lot and we hailed him as our saviour here's some extracts from Aarons welcome post and a link to it in full.

That aim is to provide a central point for all Australasian Supra owners and enthusiasts to meet and share information, ideas and viewpoints.

I'd also like to bring industry in touch with the guys on the street the guys spending their hard earned dollars making their Supras into something special, something they can really be proud of.

Demand will increase supply and competition can only grow from that. Everyone benefits!

This will not be just a forum, but a website that will hopefully grow to become a resource for all things Supra. From a database of workshops known to deal with supras, a listing of wreckers to get parts from to FAQ's to bodykit listings. Eventually I hope to have it all here - with your help and support of course! I am open to suggestions, ideas and assistance

I'm currently collecting all the parts I need to convert my Sup to US spec including auto to 6 speed I have found all the information I need on this site and have sourced some of the parts here.

I got a quote from Curt at Elmshurst Toyota but ran into the problem that he can only supply LHD parts so he can't supply things like clutch pedal and lines or centre console parts coz they simply won't fit, I got a quote locally but even at trade rate the price was rediculous so went to the good old internet and discovered the UK Supra Club forum where I found an expat Pom called Nic who lives and works in Hong Kong and has access to Toyota OEM parts at prices simular to Elmshurst but for RHD cars. No prizes for guessing where my conversion parts are comming from.

I figured that if I'm getting benifit from finding Nic then surely other Aus Supra owners will find the same benifit so I mentioned the AU forum to him and he explained that he is a member there but that whenever he tries to introduce himself his threads are removed immediately so denying Aus Supra owners the opportunity of knowing he exists and possibly benefiting.

I started a thread the other day in the off topic section of the au forum discussing how I found Nic and suggested he should be welcolmed as he offers a service not currently available there and would he would add value to the au forum because members wouldn't have to go looking elsewhere as I did.

Well that post lasted a couple of hours and I got this rap over the nuckles

I have deleted your thread as it's not a matter for open discussion.

I am currently in discussions with Nic regarding his business and what he can offer. The issue here is that I want to encourage local businesses and while Nic has come highly recommended to me by a few people, the fact that he is not an Australian business means he doesn't sit with what my aims for the forum are.

In the past Nic has not gone the right way about setting up group buys and the like and has made posts of a commercial nature. It's NOT fair for commerical posts to be made which undercut existing advertisers when they put so much time and effort into building their business into what it is.

As mentioned, I am still in discusssions with Nic, but for now I am not permitting him to make commercial posts. This is nothing personal towards him, it's exactly how I would treat anyone who was interested in commercial trading.

If you have any concerns in the future, please direct them to me via pm. While I am open to suggestions and willing to discuss things at all times, a public post isn't really appropriate for this kind of matter.

Hope this clears things up

Cheers

Aaron

Well so much for open to suggestions, share information, bring industry in touch with the guy on the street, a resourse for all things Supra!

The au forum is not Aarons gift to the Aus Supra community it's a commercial venture intended to provide Rampant Performance Imports with a ready supply of customers and there's nothing wrong with that for a moment but if it is to survive it will need to offer much more than just Rampant.

Remember Davo? he was banned and then left for daring to suggest that the au forum was a commercial venture and not Aarons benevelent gift to the Aus Supra community.

Sadly over time I believe the au forum has become rediculously over regulated and the conditions that lead to our exodus from here now exist on the au forum.
