Having a quiet day in work and my team have started to try and think of everyday things that are actually brand names but have become the byword for the item

We have come up with the following.

Anyone have more?

Hoover (vacuum cleaner)

Allen keys (hex key)

Sellotape (self adhesive tape)

Biro (ball point pen)

Velcro (hook & loop fastner)

Lego (interlocking plastic bricks)

Thermos (vacuum flask)

Tupperware (plastic containers)

Tipp-ex (correction fluid)

Google (search engine)

Polaroid , doc martens , zippo , leatherman , Luger? , Walkman, space hopper

I'd say polaroid and walkmans are maybes, but don't think the others are.

DMs are DMs and aren't generally used as the name for other boots, nor are petrol filled lighters all refered to as Zippo....

Am quite impressed with those. I laughed at some and thought you had just misunderstood what I had asked for - but no, they're all correct.

Well done that man!
