JackyBoi
I'm currently looking at removing my HKS turbos, manifolds, wastegates and down pipes, and replacing with a single turbo, manifold, single wastegate and down pipe. My question is can I do all of this without a remap, or once the swap is done, is it absolutely necessary to take it to a dyno and have it mapped properly? My max boost at the moment is mapped to 1.5 bar, at around 560hp, controlled by a Syvecs S6. Thanks guys! Mike2JZ
If you want the optimum map for your new setup then yes you will need to get it remapped.
Thorin
The boost characteristics will be completely different, of course you'll need a remap.
j_jza80
As above. No point risking a £5k engine rebuild over the cost of a mapping session
Luxluc
You need a remap EVERY TIME you change a (major) component!
JackyBoi
Okay thanks guys. Was wondering because I've heard of a few people who have run the new turbo on wastegate boost only whilst 'waiting' or 'saving' for a remap. I was going to do the same, but after the advice above, I'll get it all done in one hit I suppose the boost difference between big twins and a small single would be huge anyway. Thanks again! Style
You could probably get away with what you've suggested but you'd have to be near enough off boost at all times as the map will need timing changes etc once the turbo kicks in. A small single will spool a lot quicker than your twins so that would be where things start to go pear shaped.

Chris Wilson
Near enough anything will be better than those lag monsters! If I hadn't driven a couple of MKIV's on them I doubt I would have believed how wrong HKS could get turbo matching.
