I've looked under the bonnet of mine a few times. I put some oil in it a month or so ago as it was off the stick. I have no idea what the plugs or leads are like (the king lead was still quite flexable). It goes well for an NA Auto lugging 1600kgs. My only grip is the auto box spends far to much of it's time off the TC lock. IT would feel quicker if the box slipped less.

NA lag is the worst lol because it never really kicks in.

I'd love to put some high compression pistons in an NA and see how that fairs. Seen 11:1 pistons but never seen it built. In a stripped car I think that would be awesome.

Yeah, NA lag means getting from standing still to barely moving lol.

Modifying the GE engine, while leaving it naturally aspirated is useless IMO. I remember seeing a "300hp" NA somewhere, but he must invested a fortune and there is no more room from there.

I really would rebuild my GE with TT pistons and get a quality NA-T kit like those supplied by Paul Whiffin. That would be a reliable 400-500hp i think, but it costs so much... :(

NA lag is a myth all you have to do is drop it down a gear and your off, if I rag the nuts off mine it happily does 70 in 2nd 100 in 3rd and around 125 in 4th. I have no problem slapping it into 3rd at 60/70mph on a motorway now and then but obviously not all day everyday as it will somewhat shorten the life span.

I raced a type R civic and mine was a bit sluggish compared to it. id say the 200hp civic's are just as fast if not bit quicker off the mark. without a turbo the engine just doesnt pick up well atall

Yes about that.

Raced mine versus a civic type R. Mine was a little faster.

But still while playing in different league than a TT a Type R civic is not the slowest hatch... And def. faster than a fiesta... And the NA can cope with it.

Of course you can't compare my NA with a stock NA as it is (while still being NA) not stock at all.

(View my build thread including dyno results in the german supra owners forums; did a xerd header, mine's VX-Rom ecu, decat and installing a high flow cat, hand made one of a kind exhaust system, TRD LSD, lightweight pulleys all around, ATI crank damper, a lot of new OEM parts , major engine rebuild, etc...) by the way... I could also do a build thread here sometime if somebody's interested.

My project is known as the "NA_BPU"- Project in the german speaking area. I went on the track a gew weeks ago so there will also be some videos available soon.

My mechanic who is (the only) supra specialist down here said that he never heard a 2JZ sound that mean :)

For all the haters: Yes I could have converted it to NA_T or even TT for the silly money I've spent on this car. but: you will never be able to drive it legally down here due to austrian law.

Regards, Herbert

If you want more power without the costs of FI then I can not recommend a V8 swap enough.

Sounds like a very complex NA project. Have you dyno-ed the car after all these mods ? Really curios on the power output.

I know mate, but for me a Supra isn't a Supra without the sound of the Turbo I6, it's just my fantasy lol
