Anyone know what this is ? - UK Vs Jspec

Hi guys, just curious, was comparing a friends Auto UK Spec TT and my Auto JSpec Supra TT at the weekend and noticed that the UK one had this in the engine bay and my JSpec didn't.

 

Any idea what it is??

 

Also why does the UK have two accelerator cables and JSpec just has one ?

Black 'object' is resistor pack for injectors, and the 2nd throttle cable is for Cruise Control

I know the UK spec has larger injectors but why does it need a resistor pack and JSpec doesn't?

Lo impedance injector drivers vs. Hi Impedance...require different electrical signal strength.

 

J-spec = Hi-Imp

UK-spec = Low Imp

 

It's like when you put an LED in, instead of a Halogen indicator, you have to add a resistor in-line to cut the power and stop it flashing too fast.

Ha, all that extra weight with your resister packs, heated seats and bull bar headlight washers :D

 

Cheers for the replies, read up on Hi/Lo impedance injectors last night to get my head around it.

 

Yes the other cable must be for cruise control, mine has all the connections and fixings but no cable.

MINE............

 

Typical week in the toyota supra works in Japan.............

 

Mon...........Ken.....cruise control fitter...day off

Tues...........Ken 2...diff cooler fitter...on holiday

Wed...........Ken 3....Glass headlight fitter.....gone missing 1993

Thurs..........Ken 4....Speed limiter fitter.......lives at factory

Fri..............Ken 5....Headlight washer fitter.......emigrated to england to set up car hand wash company

Sat.............Ken 6....steel turbo fitter.........committed hari-kari after running out of steel.

Sun.............Ken 7...left toyota cos he was sick of working with other ken's

 

Should have bought a UK rick........
