I don't see the point in taking acar for a service for these reasons....

Service A

Change spark plugs (non platinum only). ---- I have put iridium plugs in so don't want them taking out

Change brake fluid. ---- Done myself including new hoses

Change engine coolant. ---- Fully flushed the system and replaced myself

Change transmission oil. ---- hardly takes any time to do at all.

I would rather buy a car from someone who knows what they are talking about and has looked after a car themselves than someone who has dropped it off at a random garage every few miles for a A' or 'B' service.

Don't you agree?

The thread was started in 2002 when warranty considerations were (probably) important.

Now? Not so much.

Additionally, no cheap plugs were available at that time. Only the HKS ones. Nobody had a clue where the oil fillers were and it was suspected the braking system used extra virgin sweat and witchcraft :p

my cars an import with little history, but then again, its 17 years old

from now on, im just going to service it myself and keep the invoices for the parts

when im finished with the supra, its values not going to have increased for what i paid for it and the little money it will be i dont think a new owner would really care if it has history or not

i got quoted over £300 for plugs/leads oil filter, oil change and new fuel filter and camcover gaskets

no way am i paying that when im handy with the spanners and can do it myself
