Chris Wilson
I can't see a REASON for them doing this mentioned in the linked thread?
Ian C
It's the pretensioner thing isn't it?

Josh
Never noticed. Don't think I've ever turned it off with the belt on as I leave it to idle for a bit after I stop.
Lbm
More of an annoying title than question. Please use descriptive titles, as this then helps others with future searches Thanks
spikedjack
sorry about the title. Cant really be a pretensioner as they're explosive charges at the buckle end?
Tyson
Its to prevent wiplash as when it senses the engine cut out (fuel cut does this in an accident or when you turn off the engine) it removes the slack in the seatblet in preperation for a sudden stop. Merc have added this to their S class in the last year or so seems like Toyota were well ahead of the times. I am sure the pretensioner is an explosive which just locks the seat belt in place it doesn't remove the slack.
mawby
If not the pre-tensioner then possibly the electric tension reducer.
Lude
if you dont like it, there are 2 wires which go to the seatbel buckle, try cutting these. mine are cut. no issues. (i do have a Willans harness also though encase lol)
