stevie_b
A very basic question: what size tyres do stock 17" alloys take? (e.g. stock 16" take 245/45/16 at the rear)
AlexM
235/45/17 on the front, 255/40/17 on the rear.

nigelboyne
you can go 245/45/17 on front and 275/40/17 on rear fills the wheels better
JustGav
you can go 245/45/17 on front and 275/40/17 on rear fills the wheels better Fills the wheels better??? This just happens to be an NA, and I'm pretty sure the owner a) doesn't need the extra cost b) doesn't need to float over water puddles) Go with Alex's suggestion... AlexM
snip That would be 'in your opinion', and a completely unnecessary personal attack on Gav. Edited September 26, 2009 by Steve (see edit history)

Scott
snip Mate you are full of it. People are only smart because of the crap you come out with. Examples You have the fastest and most powerful BPU on the forum. Your engine takes more than 6l of oil You know better than toyota when it comes to tyre selection. Are you sure you own a Supra? I'm beginning to think you are KDW on the windup, or he is you on the windup. Its never a good idea to swear on the forum, directly to a member is one thing, straight to a mod though? Man your dumb. nigelboyne
i only post when i am sure when i actually do something.the last service mt tt took just shy of 6 liters.the tire selection i had both sizes and yes i found the car to handle and ride better and brake better and look better with 245/275 on the stock 17 wheels.and at 401bhp at the hubs and 405 torque and top speed gps of 177mph ++. id say its up there with the best of the bpu supras on the site. JustGav
snip snip EXCUSE ME??? Firstly, I happen to know the owner of the car and how he drives it! 2nd I don't like your attitude, have 24 hours to calm down. 3rdly, you seem to know better than toyota, shock horror Edited September 26, 2009 by Steve (see edit history)

Stock TT will hit around that GPS (will take all day to get there though). 401 @ the hubs is impossible on stock tubby's. A dyno will give you whatever you like though. Was that thor? As for the oil, there is no way to drain all the oil out of the entire system, regardless of how long you leave it. You will normally be left with around 0.5l. My engine took just shy of 5.5l. Full can of 5l oil then topped up with the 1l bottle. Topped it up over 2 days to make sure all the air was out of the system. It was a factual answer from Gav without any profanity or name calling. Scott
To add to this and get it back on topic, Am i right in saying its only the 16" n/a wheels that are the same size front and rear? Are there any 17" n/a wheels? Just wondering if the facelift N/A's came with 16's or 17's as i don't recall seeing any 16" facelifts.

Hold on, I'll have a look what the car has on it, it just happens to be parked at my neighbours (Not that I know anything about this car or owner ) EDIT : Currently has 16's on it, they are staggered 8JJ and 9JJ. Just wondering if the facelift N/A's came with 16's or 17's as i don't recall seeing any 16" facelifts. Some early NA's seem to have had the same width 16's front and rear, should have 8's and 9's though. Facelift NA's came with 8 & 9 16's unless spec'd with uk brakes (which a lot of facelift NA's were) then they'd get the regular stock 17's of 8 & 9.5 widths.
