Small Update

 

I thought I would write a little update as work has been progressing in the background, sadly no pics for the time being as its mostly wiring. The cabin dash loom now has all the unwanted heater, window, mirrors, door etc controls removed. I have run new wiring direct off the main loom for the Apexi boost gauge and most of the new dash controls.

 

Ryan was over at the weekend and we got most of the Dash2 wiring completed and also confirmed that my new CAL and TRC eight way and dash control switches are working.

 

With the loom back in the car and everything we connected and configured the car started first time, I have a couple of other loom jobs to sort which I am working on :-

 

* Correct fuel level wiring on Dash2

* Install and wire up fuel low LED

* Install and wire up warning LED

* Correct side light wiring on Dash2

* Setup main beam wiring on Dash2

* Setup brake warning wiring on Dash2

* Finish WI wiring (now activated via ECU)

* Finish switch wiring for LAU, ALS and PIT (needs to pull to ground for ECU)

Can you set the ECU to enable/disable WI via a switch?

 

I have a switch on the dash which turns the WI on and off, when the system is on the ECU controls when its activated using air temp, manifold pressure and throttle position.

Okay, how does the ECU know that WI is off, or does the ECU control the on/off. Not sure if that's clear...let me rephrase.

 

Does the switch turn off the WI directly, or does the switch tell the ECU to turn off the WI?

My Dash switch turns off the WI directly via relay to the pump, I have no need for the ECU to know if its available as I use it only as an extra safety blanket.

 

As far as the ECU is concerned its always there and will try and activate it when the parameters are met.

A big thanks to Tony who helped me with the wiring yesterday. Using the electrical diags from http://www.mkiv.com we came up with the following pin assigments :-

Sidelights : 2A R-W (+12v)

Main Beam : 3A R-L (+12v)

Brake Warning : 1A BR-W (0v)

 

Looking today I think these will work for some of the others :-

 

Fuel Level : 10A Y-B

Fuel Warning : 8B Y-G (+12v)

Batt Warning : 14A Y-G (+12v)

 

Not 100% sure which wire I should use to replace the stock warning triangle on my custom dash with an LED. It could possibly be reffered to as Master which is 2B R-Y as this connects to oil level, abs, engine check and oil pressure.

 

 

I still need to track down the cabin wire/pin that is responsible for the small rad fan.

More Dash Pics

 

Not had chance to do much this week as I have been helping a mate with some building work. The dash panel is almost complete, just need to mount a couple of LED on the right hand side to replace the warning triangle and fuel low warning.
