  • 3 weeks later...

Sorted out some of the wiring today plus I have drained the fuel tank so that I can calibrate the fuel level on the Dash, I still need to sort out my speedo though.

Not knowing how much petrol you have or how fast your going is a bit of a pain :D

More progress this weekend :)

I updated the firmware on my Dash2 and CAN adapter and modified the CAN data output on the Syvecs which means I should now get speed from the ECU, not been able to test it yet. Finally sorted the fuel level on the Dash2, I had to modify the dash config so that it showed raw voltage, once working I filled the tank 5 ltrs at a time recording the voltages, freaking nightmare job.

Ltrs - Volts

---------------------

0 - 2.55

4 - 2.31

9 - 2.20

14 - 2.10

20 - 1.97

25 - 1.86

30 - 1.71

35 - 1.57

40 - 1.46

45 - 1.30

50 - 1.12

55 - 0.74

60 - 0.37

65 - 0

These figures are then used to configure the dash so that the fuel level displays litres.

While the dash was apart I wired up an LED to replace the stock warning triangle and also fixed the wiring for the full beam LED on the Dash2, a big thanks to Steve who had already worked this out and supplied the diagrams, they both work a treat now

I have also changed my dash config to include Lap Time and Sector Time which should be helpful for track.

My new seat subframe arrived on Friday but haven't tried it yet but it looks like it puts the seat much lower, I will post a pic later.

I know people like pics so here are a couple, I just finished installing my new seat along with some rails I managed to find on eBay for £60.

And for those interested this is how I drained the tank, I had a spare banjo fitting laying around and picked up some suitable fuel hose, once connected I bridged the ports in the diag plug and dumped the tank contents to a jerry can.

Nice work wez.

Will Ryan be able to use these figures to sort my fuel gauge out or will he have to do the same?

If he used the same size resistor and the 5v out on the dash as the pull-up source then yes, if not they should still get him pretty close.

I need to work out how toi do the fuel on mine. I have the voltages but what wires did you use from the sender??

When installing the Dash2 without the stock dash in place you need to use the Dash2 5v reference output and a 100 Ohm resistor, this is T`ed into the fuel sender wire. I used a 2W resistor.

The wire is 10A Y-B on the stock dash plugs ;)

Got a couple of bits done tonight. New coil packs, CTEK 3600 charger and a new quick release with the boss built in. I offered up the quick release and hopefully it should get me back to the stock steering wheel position, when I install it I will measure the difference

Well the coil packs are working a treat, its been such a long time since I have driven the thing I kept bouncing off the limiter, I need to configure the Dash2 shift lights so they actually do something meaningful. I also still had no speedo on the Dash2, even with the latest firmware and config changes, I hooked up the DL1 and hey presto, speedo and gear indicator working a treat. Still looking at mounting options at the moment as the cables are not long enough to mount where I originally intended :(

Also managed to sort out something that's been bugging me for ages, the steering wheel position. With an aftermarket boss and quick release kit the steering wheel sits quite far forward which messes with the driving position, today I fixed this by installing a new boss with the quick release built in, its nearly halved the distance and made the driving position so much better
