CJ
I thought it was a for gone conclusion who the Republican was going to be and thus they didn't need to speak out at this point. Am I right in thinking that the 2 parties are not going head to head at the moment anyway? I am totally confused by that. Not only by its content but more especially using Doug's post as a reference. Class One
I thought it was a for gone conclusion who the Republican was going to be and thus they didn't need to speak out at this point. Am I right in thinking that the 2 parties are not going head to head at the moment anyway? The two party head to head starts after the selection for each candidate. IMO if the Democrats want to have a real chance they shoud field Obama and Hillary together as President and VP (which way round though?) as together they would be a formidable team. marbleapple
I am totally confused by that. Not only by its content but more especially using Doug's post as a reference. I thought the present 'voting' was to determine which Republican and which Democrat would compete for the presidency? I didn't think they were voting Republican v Democrat at the moment. Edit: thanks Class One for confirming.

That sounds like a good idea actually. But you're right in your previous post, I have absolutely no idea what they stand for, what any of their policies are or how they plan to 'make good' America. Perhaps they concentrate on their approach once a candidate has been chosen.

Alex
Barack could be the first Black Pres...but then Clinton could be the first Female Pres, so both would be big firsts for different reasons. I vote for Clinton the puppet, she'll do as her husband says and he was a good president...then Barack can have a go next time But I do suspect that if they don't clear it up and knuckle down to fighting the Republicans that they could loose the actual election. Jspec Germany
One lot call themselves Democrats, the other Republicans. That's it really. Chris! Cancel my brake order. J/k. There's a huge difference between the two parties. What makes it even more difficult is that you have liberals and concervatives within the parties. For the most part what makes them different is how they feel about the hard issues and how they vote towards them. Ie, abortion, taxes, big govt vs smaller govt, gun control, welfare & health car reforms, and foreign policy (to name just few). Is the U.S. ready for a black woman? Sure, why not. Condi in 2012? I don't give a $h!t about skin color or sex. I wasn't raised that way. It's what a person thinks, and how they act. That's all that matters. I'll be voting republican either way and I hope it's McCain. Should it have to be a dem, I think Obama is actually the better choice. Hillary's a nut job and there's been a Clinton or Bush in office for too long. It's time for something new. With the way the world is today, I really only care about a few topics which I'll keep to myself. Suffice to say, Clinton is the wrong person for the job. Both untrust worthy characters though. Him with his bed hoping and her for selling out and becoming the second largest recipient in the Senate of health care industry contributions - pay offs from the insurance companies for trying to overhaul the health care service. But then I suppose they all are aren't they.

ivan
Seems typical of Clinton not to have conceded the race. Damn woman wants to take it right down to the wire. The trouble is, she risks splitting the party right down the middle if she doesn't give her support and McCain will walk it.
