  1. Fitted it this afternoon and peaked at 1.15 bar Mr Wilson was spot on
  2. Thanks guys. Just read your post Neil, I was hitting the same as you 1.4 bar, did it this morning and decided it must be time to fit the restrictor To be honest, 1.1 bar to 1.4 bar doesn't feel like it's much faster, so I'll be happy if it drops back to 1.1 bar.
  3. Hi all, just a quick question. Where does the restrictor ring go on the exhaust? Top of the down pipe or the connection to the mid pipe? Thanks Andrew
  4. Geeza your mailbox is full mate. Shame I can't make this one, it's a toss up between Southend and Portugal hmmmm And Chris behave yourself this time, don't start any fights with old ladies in carparks
  5. I'm glad you posted here Scooter, I for one don't feel there's alot of difference between a 5sp NA and a 6sp TT, here's my reason....... When we were coming back from Portsmouth and we were all having a blast up the motorway, I was amazed at how quick your Sup was for an NA, especially when we hit a few roudabouts. On the straights, yes a TT would pass an NA, but you won't fly passed. I for one was well impressed, maybe its that you are an excellent driver Scooter or you've got a bottle of NOS hidden in the boot, one or the other A 6sp BPU Supra like mine might be fast in a straight line, but it can be murder in the twisties and takes a lot of getting used to. Sometimes suffers from too much power coming on when you don't want it or least expect it.
  6. Thanks for all the info chaps, informative as ever, can't believe Toyota were right for once I will have that Cat off you Scooter if it's not too much trouble mate, I'm going to the Hampshire meet so I can buy you a beer That's if you are still going??
  7. Just phoned up Toyota to see the price on the 2nd Cat and they tell me that J-spec Cats are different to the UK-spec. They couldn't quote a price for the J-spec so I ask for UK-Spec, they then tell me there are 4 different kinds of 2nd Cat??? Is it me, or are Toyota being typically dim on the subject? Prices ranged from £196 - £450 btw. Also if anyone has any info on high flow cats it would be most appreciated. This needs to be something to get me through an MOT next year, I have a 2nd Cat but someone looney has cut the end off. Thanks Andrew
  8. Yes it does sound the same Alex, the SJ is like a mini version of the ID meter. I just need to identify that speed signal wire (pink). Thanks Alex.
  9. Justin has just received one from the supplier, but it doesn't have the wiring plans for the Supra. I vaguely remember someone here having one fitted about 6 months ago. I'm prepared to give it a go, but need to know if it's possible, and have some idea of what wires to cut
  10. Sunday is fine with me. Found a meeting place yet? What about the same place as last time??
  11. I'm just about to buy an impact wrench, as I'm getting a bit lazy in my old age Ideally this would be used to get the wheels off (which I do alot), the wrench comes with 17mm,19mm,21mm and 23mm sockets, would one of these fit the Supra wheel nuts?
  12. I can make the 19th no problem, should have a few new things bolted on myself too nothing as leary as Steve's though........I mean PS2 Thought of a venue yet??
  13. I've sent the cheque to you now Chris, hopefully that bracer you have will give enough clearance. Thanks for the help as usual everyone, I'll say thanks now because I think I have bodged my membership payment and might not be able to post after tonight
  14. Makes sense to me mate. What about the legality of the fog lights coming on when you brake, could you get a tug from the law when they light up? You've got me thinking about swapping my fog bulbs over for normal ones now aswell. Obviously it's a bit dodgey if it's foggy one day
  15. I wouldn't mind doing that. What I'd really like is for them to light up together as normal lights (does that make sense? ) If I hadn't parked my car next to yours Geeza and Steve pointing out I have UK conversions I'd have never have known
  16. Something I've forgotten to do. I was waiting for the address to send me cheque to Sorry carry on with the thread, didn't mean to hijack it
  17. Good idea Peter, I'm going to get a brace from Chris and see if that fits, if not I'll give your idea a spin. In the end it's got to be sorted, as it's doing my head in
  18. Nah the Porsche is too slow mate, and a bit rice Still might have those wheels though, I think they were the same as Steve's.
  19. They are more than likely J-spec stock ceramics if he paid around a £1000, hybrid conversions usually cost more, I was quoted £2500. As for insurance it wouldn't be worth telling them in my opinion, I wouldn't know the difference even if I looked inside. Ignorance is bliss I suppose
  20. I just went over your post again, and realised the turbos are only 6 weeks old, and I doubt they have been abused in that time, the seller has already forked out for new ones. If you like the car, all you need to do is buy it, and fit an fuel cut defencer, they're only £80-£100. Then keep an eye on your boost I get the feeling from your first post that you are concerned that it may have ceramics again? Running 1 bar on these shouldn't be a problem, the problems arise when people run high boost for long periods. I have my boost gauge set to alarm at 14psi and it flashs as it creeps up, I then lay off the power, so I only run high boost for a second or two which is all you need.
  21. Fuel cut defencers are a good thing and are required when running above stock levels. On the other hand if it doesn't have a fuel cut defencer then it means the turbos have never been stressed beyond fuel cut, which is about 14psi I believe. So again a good thing. All you need to is fit a fuel cut denfencer and keep and eye on your boost gauge. As I say come winter it will boost slightly higher in the cold weather.
  22. Yes it does, but they can go at anytime, again we don't know how the car has been driven and at what boost. You'll never know really. All we know is he's had to replace the turbos, and that sounds like running excessive boost. See it it has a manual boost controller attached to the bleeder, then you'll know that he could have cranked up the boost.
  23. I asked this question before Dan, and the anwser was it's not good for the car, I think someone mentioned it puts stress on the drive chain. Come the cold weather and this car will hit fuel cut if it's running 1 bar now in this weather. Personally I think it must have a fuel cut defencer.
