  1. Still no joy from the Valvoline supplier, think I'll switch to Castrol 10W - 40 as that's a thicker oil. Should have ordered from TorqueIC but want to change the oil this Saturday. Some good tips there, I especially like the plastic bag trick
  2. Never noticed mine whining or being noisy. I could be wrong but I think they maybe refering to the 6 speed being notchy on gear change sometimes clunky. Can't help really sorry. I'll try listen out tonight on the way home, but can't remember the 6 box being noisy as such.
  3. Anyone know what a 1994 J-Specs CO level should be for a pass?
  4. That picture came from MKIV.COM Go here for the full info on an oil change http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/oil_change/index.html Thanks for the tips all. Still tempted to change from Valvoline to something more available
  5. Thanks, looks all so simple in the manual, bundles of room in this picture Suppose I could start digging a pit in my garage.
  6. Was hoping I could get to it from the top, don't have access to a pit
  7. What's the thickest Oil I can run on a Supra TT? Wanted to do an oil change yesterday, but they were out of Valvoline 5W/50. At the moment I'm running 0W/30, which most agree is too thin. Valvoline seems to be very hard to get hold of were I live, so was considering changing to another oil. My other question is the filter replacement, do get to it from above or below the engine bay? Looks like I can get to it from above if I move some stuff out the way, but it still looks very tight. The reason for running a thicker oil is in relation to my "smoking exhaust" thread.
  8. Fingers crossed I hope it's the oil. Hope it's not the turbos, a 1k bill is all I need at the moment. Thanks for all the help, see how it goes with an oil change tomorrow.
  9. Pulled this info from the net. Castrol Formula SLX is a world beating lubricant for drivers seeking the very best performance from their car. It's the first of its kind, providing a fully synthetic, ultra free flowing premium performance OW-30 engine oil that gives instant lubrication and superior, low-temperature protection. This is the oil that Toyota put in, 0W-30 isn't this oil a bit too thin? Just seems odd my problem arrived once the oil was changed from Valvoline to this Castrol SLX. I'll do an oil change and see what happens.
  10. I tested the car this morning and it only smokes after pressure has been applied. Driving around the streets at 30-40 mph it's fine, when I hit the motorway and the speeds went up to 50-60 mph it happened when coming to a stop. Turbos??? If so what kind of bill am I looking at?
  11. Not as far as I'm aware eyefi, happens only when coming to a stop, when the car has been running for awhile.
  12. Thanks Alex gives me more to search for.
  13. Seems I have developed a bit of a problem with a smoking exhaust. This only happens when I come to a stop, several seconds later I get a small light bluey cloud of smoke coming out the pipe. This only happens when stopping and never driving around, it lasts for about 2 seconds and it’s gone and doesn't happen all the time. It's raised a concern because I have read other past posts on here about a similar problem, but it appears there has been no conclusions, or ones that I can see. Here are a few things I have done recently that may have caused this. One, I added a bottle of millers to half a tank of petrol, usually I add one bottle to a whole tank. Two, fitted an FCD upping fuel cut to 18/19 psi, car runs highest boost to 1.1 bar so well below FC. Three, had an oil filter change by Toyota and they refilled with Castrol SLX, I had been filling it with Valvoline. The Supra is on 39k miles at the moment, drives perfectly and smoothly. I also only every run the engine to 1 bar on very rare occasions, in fact I've probably on hit it 4 or 5 times in the last 6 months for a matter of seconds, so this is not a thrashed engine, this is what has me perplexed to be honest. Any help at all on this would be most appreciated. Andrew.
  14. Eventually I ran the vaccum pipe through the yellow plug/grommet down by the accelerator pedal to the right, hopefully that was an ok place to poke a hole in
  15. I see you have a CW decat in you signature B3any, is that the CW downpipe? The reason I ask is if I was going for one it would be a CW pipe, as I have read here that they produce less boost than others. Hope this is correct?
  16. Well you know the cat has to come out now Interesting to know the restrictors can be set to what boost you want, would this be something easy to alter yourself if you wanted to up the boost?
  17. What level of boost did the restrictor ring bring it back down to B3any? Would be nice to get around 1.250 just below my FCD Would also removing the first cat make the car louder?
  18. That's what I was afraid of Alex, fortunatly cat one still remains in place and I won't be taking that out following your advice and others. The fuel pump and cooling mods will follow maybe later this year, just glad to hear I'm safe with my current set up. Thanks again for all the info.
  19. Well the head gasket taking 2 bar puts my mind at rest, as I now plan on staying at 1.1 bar. Toyota obviously learnt a lesson from the MKIII, I modded mine to around 300bhp and shortly after it was sold it went BHG, told him to fit a steal HG and not to boot it until he had The prices I'm getting on water injectors is around £300, not bad if they do a good job. I have been toying with the idea of an upgraded fuel pump, as they seem a cheap upgrade. Would I need to upgrade to bigger injectors too? AFAIK it has a Trial exhaust mid pipe, replacing the 2nd cat, looks like a 4 inch pipe.
  20. Water injection is something I hadn't thought of. I'll check some prices on that, thanks.
  21. Good news, I imagine it could take 15-16 psi?
  22. I have been looking at some this morning, and you're dead right £350 isn't cheap. Look good though I read that link on the pump upgrades, interesting read. Thanks for the answers just the ones I was looking for, I very rarely run 1.1 bar and have the warning set at stock 11 psi so try to lay off the pedal when I hit that.
  23. I'll be working Sat 29th, so yes I can try and answer question if you're fitting it that day. Only from 8am to 12pm though after that it's beer time
  24. Posted the answer on my thread about 1.1bar
  25. For pillar mounts try, http://www.whifbitz.co.uk/supraaccessories.htm
