I will be getting a set of new alloys, but I can see it being a long time till I get my car back to be honest mate. They are 17' and they got a little bit scuffed up last year in the snow, other than that they are fine. Have two new rear tyres and plenty of life in the front tyres. I'll sell them first on here, but like I say might be a while yet.

Thanks Stevie some useful info there mate. 'Candy Apple Blue' hmmmmm nice. I'm not a lover of body kits either, maybe go as far as a TRD wing, but that's about it. I'll see what I can blag from them

Supra UK servicing manual online somewhere???
Andrew replied to Mid_lifecry_sis's topic in mkiv Technical
Even if the paint job was mint, it would still need to be resprayed mate No disrespect to owners of RED supras, I was one once I looked at the red one and thought, hmmm needs exhaust, wheels, paint job, FCD etc..... It's nice to get an unmodded one I guess, but the cash tots up for those small bits and pieces. Wayne's Supra on the other hand as all that done pretty much. Still hope its a good one for you mate, just think that's what Geeza's looked like once, and look at his now -
Yeah thanks Stevie, I think it's going to turn out better than I first thought. I've put in a personal injuiry claim, for my back and neck. Not sure whether I'd win that or how much I'd get though. I just want something back, as it will be very hard to sell at a good price now. Insurance companies don't account for that loss I was wondering, how much of the car do they respray? The roof is slightly damaged, the door and rear panel obviously need a respray How much do they blend in? I mean I don't want a car with nice new spray job down one side, and the front panel the dull faded colour of a 10 year old paint job.

Yeah I sent a PM to Geeza about that one too, as I knew you were looking, I was looking at both. But as I don't know what the insurance company are doing with mine yet I can't do anything. What's the red one like btw? Did I miss a good car? -

http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/maintenance_schedule/index.html £250 for an oil change then -
It's the insurance companies that need a good kickin Chris. Just recieved a letter from my insurance asking for an additional £219 to my premium, as they have just realised it's an import. Talk about rub salt into my wounds, my car is mashed to bits and the cheeky fuckers want more money Fortunatly for me I have this habbit of when speaking to people about contracts etc, I write down names, dates and times of conversations. Had them bang to rights I had a cnversation months back with them, making sure they understood what Supra it was. They record conversations to catch us out in legal wrangles, but seems too have back fired in this case

I've started to collect some examples of Supras for sale, bought Top Marques, I'll also buy copies of Bonzai and Jap Performance. Thanks for the tip guys.

They're obviously reading the Parker's Guide Just incase they do write my car off, I have been looking for a replacement. Trouble is I can't find any for £4000 Spoke to the engineer today, and they are running some chassis tests on mine. Should have the results back soon. Never thought I'd miss a car so much. Weird.

Certainly is, I was tempted to go have a look. The monster truck looks interesting too

Did mine a year ago, sanded them down with wet n dry, filled in the uneven areas with alloy filler. Then sprayed them with white primer, then spayed them with a Chrome finish spray. Then spray a lacker over them for protection. Total cost about £35-40 from Halfords. In this picture I ran out of Chrome spray on the last rear wheel, it would have been more like the front in this picture if I'd bought an extra can, but they'd sold out.

Yep I can feel a set of new alloys coming on Nope not the Elephant or Michael Winner All starts to ring true now, the guy constantly saying "It's a personal thing, you can't involve the police...... etc" , "Let me ring my insurance they can sort this for you." The Ad he's in isn't for car insurance, but for selling equity from your house. Wheels seem to be turning a lot quicker now. They said due to the car being an import, they cannot give me a curtesy car until the parts arrive (company policy), and that could be months. Got straight on the blower to my insurer, said the third party has admitted it, I want a car. My insurance rings his insurance, calls me back in 5 mins, get offered a Nissan Almera. Tell em I want something better, then get offered a Rover Z sport. Tell em think bigger, mine had Air con etc, finally get offered a Rover 75, I know it's an old mans car but hey my mum drives an Almera Legal solicitor then phones me to talk compo, lost earns, back injuiry all that milarky Get hold of the blokes in the repairs department, and check this, all this arsing about writting it off is over £4000 worth of work!! Told them they best repair it as I want £12000 for it. He then tells me that they couldn't find a price for an RZ 6speed, but were using the UK specs prices "So you reckon a 94 UK spec 6 speed with 56k on the clock in almost mint condition is worth £4000 then?" "Yeah that's what it says here." I didn't swear just laughed

Oh gets even better mate Turns out he's an Actor, he acts in a certain AD for a certain Insurer would you believe. Shortly after the accident I kept saying to myself, I know this bloke from somewhere. I'm think local pubs etc, racking my brains. Then whilst on the phone to my insurance company, on comes the Ad I had total recall, old soak is wearing the same clothes in the Ad too. According to my old man he was a bit actor on TV in the 60s 70s , and is now a luvey on the stage. I have a link to this Ad, but obviously can't post it here, wouldn't want to get anyone into trouble. So what you reckon? Shall I take em to the cleaners

Oh dear, good job it's gone then. If you read the description, it says "HKS Turbo" , I'm sure they meant "HKS Turbo Timer". I sent an e-mail asking how it was fueled and with what size injectors etc, thinking it had a single turbo

The one at D.J Craig imports Alex?
-
Great description thanks Digsy. Sounds like an expensive piece of kit.

Third party has admitted liability
-
What is a "Basket clutch"? Seen one advertised on a Supra, can't find any info on what it means.
-
Nice mate. I might have a nice shinny HKS SSQ Bov and a Blitz induction kit to go in there for you. Doners from my deing Supra
-
I'd say 7000 revs :flame Dev 1st and 2nd 6500 - 6800, 3rd 6500 and 4th 6000 - 6500. Always felt when stretching 3rd and 4th to red line from 6000 revs I wasnt gaining any power. UK specs and J-specs are geared slightly different I believe.

A2 south bound heading towards Kent/Bromley, happened just before the turn off for the Sun in the Sands, eventually ended up under the flyover.

What buy back from the insurance company type thing? To be honest I'm now starting to hope they don't write it off. Was immmaculate inside and out, UK rear lights conversion, Large Brakes, New HKS Hiper exhaust,Trial mid-pipe,CW down pipe, HKS dumpvalve,Blitz induction,Bilstein shocks, TRL fcd and speed de-limiter, 6speed, Electric folding mirrors,Active spoiler,Full leather, 56k miles etc........Many garages commenting on how good it's condition was, one even thought it was new. Was just about to buy some alloys for it too. Oh well Here it is at the Hampshire meet about 6 months ago....The blue one not Mid's old banger
