  1. Getting a little bit stressed now Car has been off the road for a week, the insurers (Admiral) cannot decide whether to write it off, the garage it went to, which is a garage attached to the insurers also cannot decide if it's a write off. So they have called in another independent technician to look the car over, should have a result tomorrow they say. Now here's the piss take, I still haven't been given a curtsey car, which on my policy states I get one in 24 hours if the car is repairable. So because my car is in limbo while they piss about trying to decide what to do I am not entitled to one. So I ring their legal people to see if I can hire a car and claim it back from the third party. This is where I get really pissed off, they say the accident is a little sketchy and they Can’t tell who’s to blame. When I asked have you seen my statement I wrote? They replied no, and had they traced the pissed bloke yet that hit my car, they replied no???? So I ask what statement they have? Turns out it’s the one I gave over the phone, I told them whoever wrote it down has obviously got it wrong then. I told them I was already in the drunks lane when he hit me, they (Admiral) even spoke to the witness and he says the same, and that any sober person would have plenty of time to see me, but he plowed into me. In case anyone is wondering why I was changing lanes, it was to get on the hard shoulder, as prior to that I had a loss of power to the engine (This I now know was a lose battery connector), power regained so I made my way over to the hard shoulder to see what the problem was. She then says, “Oh, says here the guy had been done for drink driving before.” I duly pointed out that he was actually pissed whilst driving and fucked off without giving details etc, “Oh doesn’t say that here.” I have a sneaky feeling they are having trouble tracing this guy and are now trying to cut their loses. Maybe they know from past experiences with DDs and hit and run they always lose out, and try to portion blame onto the insured driver, i.e. me. So anyway they are still arsing about with my claim/car, so I decide to ring the Police incident number to see how they are getting on. And yep after a week they still haven’t bothered yet!!! Fuckin amazes me why I bother being legal. God help the next pissed driver that runs into me, because be it my fault or not I’m going to knock the c*** out .
  2. Some valid points mate. I've had Supras for 6 years now, this one for 3 years, and yes I'd love to keep it. Idea was I would run it into the ground then get another one. I'll just have to see what my options are, and whether I get paided out or how much I get if it is a write off.
  3. The thought that has been going through my mind is, is it worth having back? I am attached to the car and it's been problem free for 3 years. It was in great condition, low miles etc. But it's never going to be the same in my eyes. Will I get the cash to buy one similar? Doubt it. I can see myself being well out of pocket because of this pissed c*** Thanks for the replies though, it's good therapy
  4. Thanks for the link, that is helpful, cheers. Hopefully I might not need it.
  5. Thanks for the kind offer mate If his number checks out and they visit his address, they will surely have to do him for leaving the scene of an accident. He was a very well spoken middle aged guy. Still that doesn't mean jack I guess. This guy could have easily have killed someone, and still could have after he drove off leaving me to pick up the pieces. Cops were helpful, I just felt I was talking to a couple of traffic wardens. Sorry mate we have no power to stop these people, let me write down your details and you can be on your way.
  6. That bad huh? Thought so Bet this tosser isn't insured etc........
  7. Long story short. Motorway, pissed bloke, rammed into the side of me, both pulled over with a witness, witness comfirms guy is pissed and was recklessly undertaking at speed and rammed me, call police, bloke does a runner, drives off with the front of his car missing, fluids and steam pissing out, and bits falling off. Traffic investigation now underway, and police trying to find him. Copper says nothing they can do unless they catch him pissed at the wheel. Love this country. Anyway here's the damage, any hope for my baby? What you can't see in the picture is the fact that the central part on the roof of the car has a crease in it. Police reckoned there will be structural damage. Also car won't start now, is there fuelines or wires that run down that side of the car?
  8. The pain is down my left side (like a pulled muscle) lower back and neck. I've put this in my statement and I have to go see a doctor, who will write a report out for me. Pain isn't too bad today, still a bit sore.
  9. Shit another Supra in a smash. Really sorry to hear this Ray, some piss arse has wrecked mine too, so I know how you feel mate.
  10. I'll stick a post in the General forum in a mo with some pictures see what you think of the damage. I think I'm fortunate that it was a glancing blow to the car and not a direct hit. Amazes me though Scooter how these twats are oblivious to what they have just done. The guy was speaking to me as if nothing had happened. If I had been on a moterbike I'd be dead now.
  11. Don't know Jake it's just what the copper said. Maybe there's been some stupid law change to protect the criminal, you know the usual human rights bollocks. I've lost all faith in the law in this country. I have to go to the police station tomorrow to give them my insurance and mot details, I'll find out. I have a traffic incident report phone number to ring also, they said they would phone me if they need information or catch the guy. One thing they will do him for is leaving the scene of an accident.
  12. I had a witness with me after the accident who agreed that I should phone the old bill, as he too smelt the alchol on his breath. Fortunatly this witness saw the whole thing happen. Guy was swaying and slurring. I'll give a full account tomorrow with photos of the damage. Yes he drove off, with no front on his car, dents all over, fluids pissing out onto the road. Mad bastard would have run me down so I let him go. The police put out a call to all cars in the area (all one of them, no bullshit the copper actually said there was only one in the area, and we are talking South London). He said there was nothing they could do unless they caught him in the car. He said unless someone was hurt they couldn't even get access to his address. So there you go folks, if you cause an accident whilst pissed and no one is hurt, and if you can race home before the coppers catch you, you get off scot free. Guess they can only do you for leaving the scene of an accident. Sorry to turn this into a non Tech thread folks. I'll stop now, just really pissed atm.
  13. I fine thanks mate, except for some whiplash. Only thing is car was a minter, had it just how I wanted in Guy staggered out his shite mobile (which is now missing it's front) and all he slurred was "Sorry mate, didn't see you."
  14. Thanks for all the help people, but I'm afraid this little clicking noise in my front wheel is irrelevant now. Some pissed c**** has just written off my Supra on a motorway. Wanker did a runner too. Suppose I could ask your technical advice on whether it will actually be written off, I'll make a post with pictures tomorrow. Still in shock at the moment to be honest
  15. The sound is coming from the front wheel and makes a sound like rubbing two coins together, gets more frequent as I speed up. It's not an excessive noise. Steering feels fine. My first thought was wheel barings. Any ideas?
  16. You could also try a Relearn, this sorted out my idle problems. This is taken from the Supra Manual. COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES 1996 Toyota Supra GENERAL INFORMATION Computer Relearn Procedures All Models * PLEASE READ THIS FIRST * The following general procedures are to be used if driveability problems are encountered after power loss or battery has been disconnected. These procedures may provide an aid in eliminating these problems. To reduce the possibility of complaints, after any service which requires battery power to be disconnected, vehicle should be road tested. COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES Vehicles equipped with engine or transmission computers may require a relearn procedure after vehicle battery is disconnected. Many vehicle computers memorize and store vehicle operation patterns for optimum driveability and performance. When vehicle battery is disconnected, this memory is lost. The computer will use default data until new data from each key start is stored. As computer memorizes vehicle operation for each new key start, driveability is restored. Vehicle computers may memorize vehicles operation patterns for 40 of more key starts. Customers often complain of driveability problems during relearn stage because vehicle acts differently then before being serviced. Depending on type and make of vehicle and how it is equipped, the following complaints (driveability problems) may exist: * Harsh Or Poor Shift Quality * Rough Or Unstable Idle * Hesitation Or Stumble * Rich Or Lean Running * Poor Fuel Mileage These symptoms and complaints should disappear after a number of drive cycles have been memorized. To reduce the possibility of complaints, after any service which requires battery power to be disconnected, vehicle should be road tested. If a specific relearn procedure is not available, the following procedure may be used: Automatic Transmission * Set parking brake, start engine in "P" or "N" position. Warm-up vehicle to normal operating temperature or until cooling fan cycles. * Allow vehicle to idle for one minute in "N" position. Select "D" and allow engine to idle for one minute. * Accelerate at normal throttle position (20-50%) until vehicle shifts into top gear. * Cruise at light to medium throttle. * Decelerate to a stop, allowing vehicle to downshift, and use brakes normally. * Process may be repeated as necessary. Manual Transmission * Place transmission in Neutral position. * Ensure emergency brake has been set and all accessories are turned off. * Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature. * Allow vehicle to idle in Neutral for one minute. * Initial relearn is complete: process will be completed during normal driving. Some manufacturers identify a specific relearn procedure which will help establish suitable driveability during relearn stage. These procedures are especially important if vehicle is equipped with and electronically controlled automatic transmission or transaxle. Always complete procedure before returning vehicle to customer.

    decat or not

Yes it will pass. I passed with just the front cat in last year. Yes it is also worth doing, makes the car sound great and will raise your boost up by about 2-3 psi. As mentioned above you will need an FCD. When I first got my Supra it had only the 1st cat in, it was around summer time, so I was getting away without an FCD, then the winter came and a drop in temperature and I started to hit fuel cut.

    decat or not

Yesterday I had to fit my mid cat back in to get ready for an up and coming MOT. My boost has dropped around 3 psi. Normally I run 17 psi on full decat with a resrictor ring, without the ring it creeps up to 20 psi, which I'm not happy running on stock Jap fuel/turbos etc. It's not so much the drop in boost that effects the performance, it's the way the turbos spool up. I was amazed how just putting one cat back in how sluggish the car feels to full decat. Speak to Chris Wilson about a restrictor ring if you go full decat, I told him what bar/psi I wanted to run and he got it dead on.
  19. I have the basics, HKS Dumpvalve, Fully Decated HKS Hiper, FCD, delimiter, Turbo Timer, Alloys. They have a very comprehensive online quote system, lists plenty on mods and conviction codes for speeding etc. It's also one of those databases that favours the person with a vehicle reg, typed in my reg and it knew exactly what I have. Shows my car as an RZ Twin Turbo Supra. I also live in a high car crime area, according to that list someone posted a while back, I'm in one of the worst I'm 33 with 6 years NCB. Mine is due in July, so will post up to let people know how it goes.
  20. Closer to the truth than you think. I had a MKIII Turbo (UK spec) insured with Tescos and changed over to my MKIV TT import. MKIII was £650 and to change over to the MKIV was an extra £100. A year later on renewal they told me they'd made a mistake and wanted £1300. Went to Directline and got it for £720. Changing over to Admiral this year as they quoted me £420 for stock. With my mods + alloys and an MP50 it comes to £570. Worth a try, go to their online quotes http://www.admiral.uk.com/
  21. Beat me to it Wish I'd never seen this thread, got me worried about my HKS BOV now
  22. Twin Stock Bov mod
  23. That's the one Jake, as I say that SAAB bov was often used by MKIII owners when running higher than stock boost. Now according to a performance article I have they use this on the MKIV in the US, maybe a visit to the US Supra forums might yeild some info on this. Fair enough if people are running high boost on stock bovs, then buy another stock one. My worry would be, why did it break in the first place. As I say I have actually broken one running high boost on a MKIII Turbo, and you won't be able to tell when it goes. The only way to know is to take it off and do the blow through test, other than that you may feel slight turbo lag when changing gear. Or of course listen to hear if it's not making a dumping woosh sound. I think they are worth spending some cash on, this is a quote from a Lotus owner. Do some research on the SAAB bov though that might be a cheaper option, it's been well tested with the MKIII and holds up better than the stock MKIII Bov, which incidently looks exactly the same as the MKIV Bov, can't confirm if they are one and the same though.
  24. Exactly what Tim said You can fit a SAAB Bosch BOV which is better than the stock supra BOV, lots of MKIII owners did this. Can be bought from a SAAB dealer, I paid about £35 for mine about 4 years ago. This was on a MKIII turbo so not sure how it would fair on a MKIV. Personally I'd fit an aftermarket, I have an HKS SQV. If you are going to run high boost like 1.25 bar, you have to take other things into consideration.
  25. LOL, come on Jake you know you want one To be honest mate, I think you may need to upgrade to an aftermarket bov. I think another stock bov will break again at 1.25 bar.
