  1. I know you're asking for legal advice and not opinions But personally if they're not blocking access to other properties, causing a nuisance or causing damage above usual wear and tear, or charging cars to park there, I'd say they should be able to use the drive as they see fit. I'd be very annoyed if my landlord tried to dictate to me who I could and couldn't let park on the driveway I pay for........ My response would be along the lines of 'leave me alone or lower my rent so it doesn't include the driveway'.
  2. I'd be so shocked I'd run off with my noses between my arse. I know that's neither sensible or funny, it's been a long day.
  3. I think what he means is tie some knots in the cable, then feed it through the spokes in the wheel and back round again, line up the knots with the tread in the tyres then tie it up tight. Simple and brilliant!
  4. All weekend the peace around here was shattered by the sound of people flooring it to try and get up the gentle slope out the car park, somehow thinking that having already lost grip, more power would get it back It's no wonder other, more wintery countries laugh at us, it's pathetic.
  5. Maybe call her bluff and ask her to come round on Christmas day? Then it'll be the baby sitter that cancels, not your mate. Damn it, too slow!
  6. Personally I find it strange that when asked about hygiene, so many people hark back to the 'good old days' when no-one washed their hands or brushed their teeth, a large percentage of new mothers died of septicaemia, and we all lived to the ripe old age of 48. Ahhh but we were happy.
  7. Well said Branners - the way some people hark on about these packs you would've thought their lives depended on them.
  8. Because the 'red' they refer to is infrared (short wavelength) and not the red from the visible part of the spectrum (longer wavelength). Is that what you mean, or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
  9. This kind of attitude from car dealerships really annoys me - I got a similar run-around from a Rover dealer (yeah, I know) when I was about 19. It's bloody annoying but the best thing to do is vote with your feet and don't go back. Oh, and laugh every time you drive past the place and see the same old cars still sitting on the forecourt week after week.
  10. BT have an online phone book: http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.content/en/search/residential/search.publisha
  11. I'd be happy if someone gave me homemade fudge as a present. Sounds nice!
  12. Perfectly legitimate moan IMO. Yes, it's great to have a 'free' health care system and we should all be grateful for it, but stuff like this just wastes time and money. No matter why it's happened or who it's happened to (they were probably just too busy treating patients to even think about checking whether they had the correct sized shoe in stock) it's a bad waste.
  13. not that bit Paul. Although the gene pool could do with a bit of chlorine...
  14. Definitely worth it, it's a vital step in understanding how the world / universe works.
  15. YES That's exactly it! When I next see my parents I'll annoy them with this, see if they can remember what it was called!
  16. I can't believe you've posted this, I was thinking of exactly the same thing yesterday! It must've been James May's meccano bridge that I saw on BBC recently that reminded me of it. The little black rivets were right vicious little buggers if you trod on them or lost / broke the gun and you had to push them in with your fingers.
  17. So what's being cut? Unless I'm looking in the wrong place there are no details at all in that petition.
  18. Excellent. You're right, there are much more important / interesting / shocking things happening in the real world. I'm still surprisingly disappointed at the result though... but even more disappointed with myself for caring
  19. I have no Idea what 'shame devisions' are, but I get what you mean. The answer (IMO) is being afraid of people different from you used to be a significant evolutionary advantage - it kept you alive. It's going to take more than a few decades of pretend equality to overturn that.
  20. What exactly have they 'allowed to happen'? Freedom of speach and freedom to demonstrate? Terrible state of affairs that.
  21. WTF! I love how the wheel is propped up against the car on that second one, what a deal!
