    Made a decision

I think Jim's car is worth about £11k (private sale) currently, and this about £8250 (10k from a dealer) ... so am kinda in your direction there. I'm still not sure about the VED laws... seems to me that any car registered in this country after March 2001 (regardless of when it was manufactured) will get stung. So if its a 2001 car, but not registered until August 2008 its looking at £bignotes ?

Some later registered cars have been put on the wrong plate so be sure to check the actual year of manufacture ... don't ask me how it happens but there's been a few around.

No, not at all ... 3 years younger + 25k less miles ... the value is not just based on the presence of a VVTi under the bonnet (although it does make just a very tiny difference to the car ) I hear what you are saying, but still think its a lot of car for sub £9k. BUT ... whats the VED going to be per year ? If running costs are an issue, then you've got to be looking to buy a car that was registered in the UK pre March-2001. Surely.
  4. Just paid up ... am really looking forwards to this as I am a strip virgin so will try really hard to embarASS myself Now, where did I leave my slicks
  5. My brother could do this for you ... send ([email protected]) me a high resolution picture in the pose of your choice and I'll ask him to create a few images for you. The price will be negotiable, but you're looking at £200 I would guess. He is a professional graphics artist, but I'm not here to plug his business If you are really lucky, he might do it for free just to show off, but don't hold me to that btw, His artistic licence may come into play.

£10,500 as its such a late year, and not bad miles. Although the market is low, the car still stands at £10k+ in my eyes. But having said that, just try to find a buyer. Offer him £8250 and he'll sell. Great example. Would buy it myself if I had the £s
  7. Hi Jim, Great example ... but I think in the current car market your Supra is worth more around £11k ... asking £13.5k could be a little too high ... e.g. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/657039.htm (not a VVTi) or http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/675239.htm (VVTi) I know the specs are different, but the market is real bad at the moment. Fuel & VED = Loooow prices to sell. Dont want to pee you off, but just thought I should speak up.
  8. Mmmmm, second glance does make it look a tad worn ... my 92 MkIII Supra (1jz) has done 48k and the steering wheel looks like new still ... so maybe I'll pass my place in the queue
  9. omg, how cheap are cars gettings at the moment ! £1k for a 56k 1jz is just scary. If Chris doesn't want it ... I will for the same price.
  10. Must be too cheap ... up the price 10%.
  11. I think I may have a problem with my TC, but I'm not 100% sure ... When moving up through the gears at WOT, I get to about 5k RPM and about 1.1bar(ish) and my TC kicks in ... maybe 9 times out of 10, esp. when in 2nd or 3rd gear. I have brand new bridgestone RE050A's fitted all round (at 32psi) on stock 17's with stock VVTi REAS suspension. With my previous tyres (almost bald michelins) this did not happen, and I have also recently had the second cat removed. The boost controller is set to about 1.1bar with mildly aggressively gain, running 99ron fuel, FMIC etc etc.... So I am wondering ... is this to be expected and I need more grippy tyres than the bridgestones, or is my TC struggling and I need to look at RLTC, or am I seeing a weakness in my suspension ? I guess I was expecting more from the RE050A's but could be wrong ? Any comments guys ?
  12. I live about 3 miles from this site and can vouch for its potential ... just near Burnham Beeches and lots of good schools (private ones). How does a group buy sound Good luck with sale Jamie ... and well spotted in the first place.

    Bang!

Try a Subaru Legacy B4 RSK.
  14. I left mine stock as well, even though I bought a cf TRD replacement (its still in the box) .. Are not worried about cracks on the blend for the rear bumber ?
  15. Which spoiler are you going for ?
  16. Those blends look sweet ... I just had a similar job done to mine and blending the bodykit just improves the finish by zillions! Something about metallic grey on a Supra that just works so well .... Bet you didn't stop grinning when you saw it.
  17. Don't want to hijack the thread, but PM me if he's interested in renting out one of the bays :-)
  18. Big greenhouse man , yours ?
  19. Looks fantastic in the pic ... and the colour will be ?
  20. Sounds like your calipers are binding slightly and over heating the discs ... or you are buying cheap discs ? Take it out for a very short drive and avoid using the brakes as best you can ... then check the discs for heat (don't touch them ) ... if they are hot then you need a caliper refurb as your pistons are sticking... You can do a run-out test to check for warped discs ... just take the wheel off and spin the disc with a small screwdriver gently touching the outside face ... if it moves your discs are probably warped ... you can also measure more precisely but I dont think you need to go that far by the sound of things...
  21. I think that when one of the largest car makers in the world says 'We are not making cars with poor mpg anymore' that we should all feel one of two things ... a, Guilty for using up all the fuel before our children get to drive or b, Just very lucky for being able to drive our Supras and make sure that we tell our children just how good it was
