  1. It has been known for people on ebay to collect personal details from buyers and then pass them on to others ... be very carefull who you send things esp. your address / ebay id combination !
  2. The WRX would disappear around the corners .. bye bye Supe.
  3. If you do email the seller don't include your email address as you may regret it ! Use the ebay messaging only as it hides your email address...
  4. Had a serious blast with an 05 Porsche GT3 , he had better grip, but did not escape ! We were both surprised, but I had the biggest grin on my face
  5. Hi all, been reading through this thread as I have recently bought a VVTi and have been suffering the same problems ... gave me a fright on the way home from buying it ... there's me thinking 'bought a duffer' !! Anyway, went for a 400 mile drive on Monday, and this is what happened ... Left home around 7:30am, drove approx 50 miles no problem at all , and then I was in need of some fuel, just before I found a suitable watering hole, I started getting the problem, maybe 3 times in a short spell. Fueled with 95Ron, and then head off , got the same problem maybe twice more. Stopped around 10:00 for scram, and then head off again about 10:30 (having covered about 100 miles or so by then ... mainly A road (50-1?? mph)... Never got the problem again all day. I have notice that I get the same issue everytime I run low on fuel, OR it is quite cold outside, OR if I use 97Ron.... so my thoughts (very inexperienced ones at that), are that the ecu is spotting that the mixture is too rich for the engine and shutting her down ? My Supe does have a Blitz intake, a FMIC, and also has been chipped (can't remember the brand name), Blitz NUR Exhaust etc.... When I use to ride fast road bikes I saw the same problem with a rich mixture at low air temps ... Not sure if this helps the debate ? I also noticed that you can 'feel' the throttle getting very 'sluggish' just before it goes awol, and if you have the opportunity to go full throttle for a few secs it does clear before the warning light comes on. A couple of times when it shutdown I was just cruising about 60mph for a few mins ... I'm going keep a note of when it happens again ... just in case, and I am also not going to go below 1/2 tank of fuel (if that helps ??). (Be stopping every 5 mins then !!)
  6. I got stopped on my Fireblade and the rozzer reckoned my average speed was 148 mph ... hence Fire148. His Vascar unit must have been broken, I thought I was only doing about 65 3 month ban and £850 fine ... nowadays you'd get a year plus a retest for that speed.
  7. Hi all, I am about to return to the land of the living ... picking up a 98 VVti 6sp on Fri/Sat so if all goes well then maybe we can join your convoy over to Bovingdon ? I'm not sure what your planned route is from reading the thread, but I live near Bovingdon so can get you there easily enough if you take a wrong turn. Hope to see you all bright and early (I'm heading up from my mum's at Folkstone so will be heading up the A2 I guess). ps. What's a PMR ? pps. I thought South Mimms is at the bottom of the M1 not on the A41. ppps. Lots of Speed Camera's on the A41. pppps. I've got to be at work by 8am ... must be the MkIV bug I'm suffering !
  8. Because I entered a bid of £15,000 (by mistake - oops!), and it went to £14,495 and said RESERVE MET. Unfortunately I had to retract my bid as I entered the wrong amount
  9. Just in case anyone wants to know, the reserve is set to £14,495 ...
  10. Hi Bob, Congrats on getting your licence back, I felt the same pain a few years ago ... but for speeding ... so no retest If you want to get a quick test booked, try one of the south coast towns like Hastings....
  11. About 100 yards, full throttle, spinning the little mites till they're slicks ! Or, about 2-3 miles of spirited driving is all thats required.... any more and you're not trying hard enough
  12. D'oh ... I GET YOU NOW !!!! I need more caffeine They would be a tight squeeze !! Be more like a Monster Truck
  13. I know ... say no more ... came with the car is my excuse (and a poor one at that!), but fit the gap rather splendidly and my huge driving skill gets me around the corners
  14. No worries... but let me know if you want the wheels ... thery are immaculate ... I only paid £50 for them.
  15. Can you get an LPG conversion for a TT ?
  16. Patrick, what's the size of your stock 16's ? My reason for asking is that I have a set of virtually new 225/50 Bridgestone S03's that I no longer need and require a good home ... I also have 2 brand new (well almost) 16" rims (silver alloy) that need a good home.... all are VERY cheap cos they're just knocking about and not wanted....
  17. Fire as in Blade, 148 as in nicked at 148 ! Wheel cleaning ? What's that then ? Oh you mean that thing that I seem to spend every weekend doing ... !!!! I already get huge amounts of the black stuff already so I am really looking forwards to getting more ... ! I might invest in some new tyres as well .... the only problem I have to overcome is the 19" radius ... wonder if i could stretch some 18" tyres onto my 19"s ??? I really fancy getting some Yokohamas as i have never had those on a supra, only on other cars ... if anyone has run Yoko's and has any comments (either way) then let me know before I order them !
  18. I heard that they confiscate your car now on the spot ... good job I was on my bike then ! I'll be ordering some pads in the morning then ... hope they are as good as I need them to be ... thanks for the info....
  19. Hi John, do you a good supplier then as I would like to try them out ... before the corner arrives
  20. When I say spring clips I mean retaining clips ... check this thread out I think it answers your 'flapping' question for sure ... its very easy to put them on incorrectly .... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12431&highlight=brakes+clips Hope this helps ........ Btw, I have a UK Auto, and I think the brakes are ok 'til they get hot when they seem to fade REALLLLLLLY badly .... erm maybe time to get some decent brake fluid me thinks ! James what did you put in it ?
  21. Metal on metal never seems good on brakes ! Could be that your discs are warping when hot (I presume that you fitted new discs when you put the UK calipers ?), or that your spring clips are 'flapping' ?? So when do you hear the noise ?? Brakes, did you say rev limiter
  22. Ok, here's mine then .... Tyres are 245/35 19"s and tyre pressure was 37/38 psi all round. Btw, if anyone knows James, then tell him not to use Anodised Dust Caps !!! Binned them a while ago after required a spanner and pliers to remove them !!!
  23. This one should open a few eyes I hope. Go and get your tyre pressure gauge and measure the pressure on all your wheels RIGHT NOW and then without fibbing or reading from your 2 year olds 1.2.3 book, tell us what they are ... no lying !!!! Be sure to quote your tyre sizes and say whether or not your tyres are COLD, WARM or HOT 'N STICKY. Right, I'm off to do mine ... ok so it is 1:25 in the morning and a little nippz outside, but we'll see what they are ...
  24. Hi.... just something to think about for you... If you want to drive around corners with real confidence then try to match the rears to the fronts.... Too much grip at the back end can cause understeer mid corner, and will destroy your confidence. Save your money now, buy the nearest to the fronts and then when you have enough cash get a fully matched set for the front and rear .... you'll be far quicker that way around the corners where it counts !
  25. I have 19" Millie's fitted with reasonably low profile tyres, and to be very honest with you they are superb, except for very poor road surfaces where there is simply not enough sidewall movement to allow the tyres to grip. I have raced for many years, and whilst your wheel size is important just think TYRES TYRES and TYRES. Thats all that matters in the real world. Buy the best tyres you can afford and drive circles around everyone else IN ANY CAR. Stock suspension is good enough, especially in wet conditions and the stiffer you go, on a road, the slower you go. Buy whatever wheels you like, and then spend ALL of you money on TYRES !!!
