  1. Oh there is always one :p Nice 1 jake
  2. Well what happened to the lock out of the old door??
  3. I don't know what is going on but very recently the full ish toyota supra line finally made it onto the insurance company net. So now instead of paying mk3 uk insurance the buggers have now reclassified our cars from a class A car to a class Y car. Now I was never aware of a classification system but this came from a tesco's insurance rep. I think a lot of the problems insurance wise at the moment is down to this re-classification on insurance company computers.
  4. Do a search this topic is very well discussed including the part number for the beige version of the supra mat at a heady price of £11.
  5. If they went to the trouble of opening it all up to wedge a sticker on the dial then chances are very high they put a converter of some sorts in. Some converters are not as reliable as others so maybe yours is now not working. I am not sure if you legally need a speedo but it is an idea to know how fast you are going.
  6. Might be a sticky menu button???
  7. I concur. Had some exhaust work done recently and at low rpm's I get a rattle from my centre section. Its a heat shield or summat. Until it gets really annoying I will let it rattle. Just a case of getting your local freindly MOT station guy to have a looksee and fix it or an exhaust place.
  8. My jaw is quite literally scraping the floor reading this thread. How can anyone be daft enough to drive a car that they know requires bleeding on the brakes?? Not wanting to be rude but that is f*cking neglegent. How would you feel if you killed someone because you didn't stop in time due to poor braking directly attributed to air in the brakes?? As an aside to my little outburst. Brake discs can very easily be warped or hot-spotted. I did a brand new pair of front discs on another car due to my tendency of holding my car on my foot brakes instead of the handbrake. After braking your discs have heat in them. If your pads stay stationary over a specific spot IE if you stop and don't release the brake then the heat in the area around the pad to disc contact cannot escape like the rest of the disc that isn't insulated by the pads. this heat can cause hotspotting. Its not as bad as warping the entire disc but it can cause vibration. Do it enough times and the vibration gets worse. Another point. When changing pads its customary to measure the discs and check to ensure even wear on it. Apparently yours has not had even wear as the new pads are contacting more surface than the old ones did. At this point the discs should have been skimmed if for no other reason than to prolong the life of the new pads. If the threads are stripped that hold the pipe into the caliper then seriously a bit of copper grease or thread lock or any form of bonding is really not sensible. If you must insist on keeping the calipers and not replacing them at least have thread inserts put in them so that you know for sure the pipe won't come out.
  9. Since putting my super drager on I deliberatly take to roof off just to better hear that growl
  10. Suspect steel head gasket Whats that all about?? Do they suspect that there is a steel gasket or do they think the steel gasket it suspect?? I saw this advertised and thought hmm nice. Also thought nice price tag. It will need a tad more looking after ie servicing and maintainance than your current ride.
  11. Cool a bit off topic but I want my cast iron fire powder coating. Be nice to have a choice other than flat black.
  12. The calibration can be done easily with the trl box which also delimits the car for you as well. Move the soop needle at your peril!!! When you take it off it has a tendency to move. Do a search there are several people on here that removed needles to change dial faces and ended up with way out zero speed readings. RE aftermarket dials as far as I am aware they are just direct replacements for stock items and as such will have precisely the same placement for the numbers. Getting new ones made to measure for individual cars is financially not an option.
  13. Did it look a bit like this?? roadkill thread
  14. I think the term is get your sandpaper out an get polishin mate:p Correct me if I am wrong but I think Envy do a polishing service on most components but I reckon you would be lookin at nearly £70 a caliper.
  15. Polish them bling stylee then laquer them!!
  16. Takes the p*ss a bit cos the quote is the same regardless of model mkiv i put in
  17. Oh only an extra £70 odd for the remaining month and a half and then nearly double the old premium for renewal.
  18. Ah crap!!! You seen my bad news on insurance front?? The twats have been insuring me for the last 2 years as a sodding MK3:confused:
  19. Do bloomin what????? You were recently biatchin that no-one would insure you on a standard TT and now you are going to try and buy a horsepower monster??? I won't even go into the fact that you have difficulty keeping the N/A you have on the road.
  20. Would work nice but I was under the impression it would only be flat colours. I have only ever been aware of black powder coating.
  21. Without wanting to sound like an arse call brembo and ask them what they coat the things with. I suspect its some sort of chemical coating/anodising process though.
  22. Thats what the high temp laquer is for fella
  23. Oh hark at Mr bloody sensible:flame Dev If someone talks b*ll*x when they are p*ssed then they get the p*ss taken out of them be it the morning after by your mates or the day after in a forum. Now I am not saying that the question itself was b*ll*x but you will admit its presentation could do with a little work:D The overuse of Da Ali G ism is a bit of a pain as unlike with common or garden english I have to engage my poor little brain an decipher what it is that is meant. Being a noob doesn't give you amnesty in regards to drink and typing:baa:
  24. Hey I was just soothing his ego there lol. I did look - twice in fact. Once up the inside as the road straightened up from a slight left bend. Then at the GPS to ensure the road was as straight ahead as it looked. Then to the right hand side as I pulled out to overtake. Not all that difficult as it was a bloomin slow tractor we were passing and into a 40 zone so not much chance of finding summat coming the other way in a rapid stylee. Passed the tractor as I passed the 40 sign and then slowed back down from warp in case of camera's. The only dodgy part was the lack of space between the cars queued up behind the tractor if someone did come through the 40 zone at warp the other way.
