  1. I recently aquired a set of veilside side skirts. After a lot of TLC I have repaired them and am in the process of spraying them. I have applied the plastic primer and am about to put the colour coat on. I prefitted them with the primer on to ensure that if I needed to adjust them I would only scratch the primer if that happened. My question then is: Do you fill around the gaps ie at the edges in the doorway and around the top edge at the back and sand it in or would that just crack?? Just it seems a bit unfinished edge to me.
  2. Cheers for the lend of your seat by the way rosie lol. The car looked really weird with just a driver seat in it Really didn't like the feel of the stock leather seat either. Your door cards are lookin a bit spangly as well.
  3. He He nearly found out how not so good the brakes are on my rocket barge as well lol.
  4. Seriously peeps this is not trumpet blowing it really does look even better in the flesh. Reminds me a lot of those posh looking RX8 interiors.
  5. No I aint sure if the engine is OK. Also a touch worried that the impact will have thrown the turbo's out but for the money (its got UK brakes apparently) I should be able to break it for half the money I payed for it. If the engine or gearbox is buggered well thats life but nothing ventured nothing gained. My biggest concern at the mo from the pics is that some of the mounted ancilliaries appear to have sheared off. Now if they have sheared on the engine mounting side I don't know how I would remount them. Will know more on thursday or Friday when the car pitches up.
  6. Nope cos you got 6 cylinders and the noise is different, Awesome in fact. Only surpassed by say a V8:p
  7. Get a NUR spec and then say the same thing lol.
  8. Well I wasn't happy with my spangly alcantara seats making my back seats/small storage area look really poor so I decided to shell out and have the rear seats done at Gibson & Boyne. Whilst it was in there I had the fronts tampered with and piped across the lateral lines on the alcantara stitching. All I can say is bloody WOW!! The car looks massive inside now. It actually looks like it has two rear seats as well. OK we all know how actually usefull they are but for the first time since I have had the car it looks like a 4 seater. Piccies are here back seat pics
  9. Aw looks like I will have to take my cats out when I do the transplant then cos I am getting very used to the nice loud super drager on the N/A
  10. Why will I have to buy a new gearbox cover? Can I not use the one from the donor car?
  11. When I am looking at a gearbox and a spare pedal scratching my head I shall take you up on that fella;)
  12. Cant say for sure what bits are damaged and what bits arent but yes i "should" have a complete dash spare. The gear surround will be sprayed red though as it will be my old one (cos auto surrounds dont fit manual cars)
  13. Garage is booked to remove the engine and drive train from the donor vehicle.
  14. Hmm a bit more to this than I first assumed.
  15. Oh crap I am doing a TT conversion with a manual motor hence sort of being obligated to do a manual conversion as well ULP. I was flippant that the difference in work load would be minimal but now I am beggining to wonder.
  16. Yep it was me with the roof not fitting when i had the front wheels up a bit of an embankment. The reason behind the order of torquing the bolts is pretty simple. The front 2 are in a fixed position tightening vertically so when these are done up they hold the roof firm in relation to the A pillar. The rear 2 however are torqued in the horizontal position so theoretically they should pull the car back into positiion (by this I mean- clearly if I couldn't fit my roof in the hole then the chassisdoes slightly bend, in this case up at the front and down in the middle in a U shape. If the car did the opposite in an n shape then the rear points would be further away and require pulling fwds to tighten) If you tighten the rears first and you are in either U or n or even twisted then the fronts will be miss-aligned and over time you will nadge them by unevenly wearing the threads as you attempt to grolly them in. I think the centre one is just a temporary lock to hold the roof in place whilst away from the vehicle parked or for temporary driving because its only a spigot in a hole I can't see it lending much structural integrity. PTFE plumbers tape will take the slack out of worn threads hence prevent them working loose and to a certain degree act like nyloc self locking stiff nuts.
  17. No but I have now purchased a donor vehicle which happens to be a 6 speed manual so here we go all or nothing do or die lol.
  18. yeah you are right they do need the money which is why they put the 2p on fuel. But as i said before the wastefull nature of a secure 2/3's majority government sets a lax attitude. If they can get away with doing less work for us they will. If the parliament is finer balanced they have to work harder with our money and waste less of it to keep their jobs. My point a little is that they (and i mean succsesive governments) have used the green issue as an easy way of targetting a specific group of people for taxes. No matter who you tax they aren't gonna be happy about it. But with the relentless rise in various motoring related taxes and things such as overuse of mobile speed camera vans being construed by the populace as further taxation the motorist is starting to get a touch miffed. If you targetted any other group of people in this way an ISM would be forthcoming straight away and protests would front page news.
  19. Yep currently have an auto N/A. was gonna just swap the engine and gearbox out of an auto TT. Bought the car without realising the manual part (what a doofus) how I missed that bit I don't know, I guess I just expected it to be an auto. I don't think there are any manual aero's be that N/A or TT but I stand to be corrected. Unless the blokes a total div then I think he means no rear end suspension damage but you are right thats not how the ad reads!! The wiring loom looks shredded so I am gonna have me some fun with that. I am assuming that as long as I change the trim bits and gear lever blah area over and the ECU, and the drivetrain rearwards (which I was doing anyway) then I won't have any difficulties with the manual conversion aspect? Incidentally has anyone done a manual conversion?
  20. Ah see we aren't talking revolution here. We are talking governmental instability. A hung house for a term will see the people have a significantly higher say in the various parties policies and provoke a more efficient government (in order for each party to offer us more they will have to extract more from what we give them). The one pound per litre is a very important milestone. Its like a marriage really, its amazing what people put up with for years and then suddenly one day someone leaves the top off the toothpaste and that ends in divorce.
  21. Oi buggar lugs it was my mistake first:p I didnt actually realise it was a manual DOH
  22. I've got tracktime now
  23. The car I have sourced as a donor vehicle for my N/A-TT conversion is a manual six speed. Its a complete car with all the TT drivetrain apparently intact. Am I going to have problems now because this is a manual not auto?? If nothing else I will be the only aero tt manual owner in the uk. Heres the car it was on here before as a repairable motor I am sure lol. Its not a pretty sight. Donor wagon
