This might sound odd but try tighten them a little before you undo them ....it sometimes helps to crack em off first.

what size RR is it and does it have a thread collar welded on for the o2 sensor.

Go for the 1.6 petrol or the 1.8 tdci if you can afford it...I've been working on these for as long as they have been out and they are a brilliant car to own. Ghia or zetec spec on the older models are really smart... Iam also on the look out for one too, as i need to update my daily driver.

valve clearances could be too tight(they close up over time)the valves rise up slightly into the head, closing the valve clearance gap...this was quite a common fault years ago. Should be part of every major service but most people dont check them!! Just a case of re-shimming the tappets, quite an easy job if your in the know.

Yes you are probably right with that, however i was just giving him some original figures and did state that these will vary from car to car. I would have to be a genius to exactly know what his true bhp is:rolleyes: Sorry if it sound like iam having a go...just making my point clear, Happy xmas:)

220 bhp at the flywheel and i would add 8-10 bhp for the exhaust at a guess, these figures will vary from car to car. As people have said going to a Twin/big single would be you best bet to getting proper power.But you still can have plenty of fun in an N/A and without being embarrassed by other cars.
