1. Sorry not to be able to help directly but you might prompt replies if you say what engine and whether auto or manual. Are there any other symptoms or work recently done? Ask for a recommendation on local specialist if it can be driven?
2. Looking for an engine ECU for N/A Auto gearbox.
3. Great. Thanks Lee. I will give them a shout.
4. Thanks Lee. Can anyone recommend an ECU repair specialist from experience?
5. I read a post on FB that N/A Auto ECUs particularly are prone to failure. What would the options be if an ECU failed? Are new parts available? Is refurbishment possible? Would an aftermarket engine management system be a better option?
6. I did sit in their office for a while once. As above, they are scouring the ads all the time and will set off with cash to grab a bargain when they see one. They seem to have grown since I was there and I often see their ads on Autotrader. I don't think they are fussy on Marques but have sold a few Supras.
7. Hi, Had it for a couple of years. The car is on about 80K - its auto. The gearbox always seems to be in the right gear if you know what I mean. The linear power and torque make it seem relatively effortless.
8. Have S4 B7 Cabriolet. I have to say that the entire drive train is excellent, verging on sublime. I believe you are right - engine is in backwards so the chain is at the bulkhead.
9. Weird - as BBS is effectively a German company?
10. I take it you refer to the center lock? There is not much to it and I think I bought one on ebay a couple of years back. I guess you might repair yours if determined enough. It might be sticking a bit - otherwise the allen head would not have worn?
11. Being the past owner of a blue Bedford HA and a current owner of a Toyota Crown I did take a peak at this. 'Interesting' springs to mend.
12. [quote Underseal type treatments split people......I think summer usage, ACF50 spray and cleaning might be better for yours than full underseal. Have a good long think about it, don't rush into doing it. as above - If dry stored over winter, I don't think rust will be an issue.
13. +1 for something like plug leads in wrong order. Good luck with this. Hope a new day brings a solution.
14. Thanks for taking the time to write this up. Sincerely hope that incendiaries are not required.
15. These have been gathering dust and taking up space in my garage. Free if you collect from me in Woking. I'm not sure which side they are for... Ex 93 areotop.
16. Unless you are going to drive it regularly in rain and particularly on winter salted roads I would not do it. Having said that (noting that you want a good job) doing it properly is not cheap as there is a lot of labour involved.
17. I understand that the labour will be around £1000 plus VAT. The head will be sent away and cost depends on what is found. I'm not expecting change from £2000 including VAT and the 'Surrey Tax'. I have used the guy for a few years, and so far has been trustworthy. tbh, there did not seem to be much choice of places to go. I did speak to Lee at SRD but I did not receive the promised quote and it's probably not exactly his thing. I didn't just want to take it to the nearest independent general repair garage and transporting it long distance adds to cost and difficulties if things don't go according to plan. Parts will come from Toyota.
18. Yes, both places I have spoken to agreed with this ^
19. I'm fairly certain that my head gasket has given up. No heat in the cabin, white smoke from exhaust, overheating and rough running. What 'ball park' figure should I expect and where should I take it close by to Woking in Surrey? I have an idea where to take it, but a alternative might be useful. I don't think I have a suitable combination of time or ability to handle this one myself. Cheers.
