Sounds like one of the terminals on the battery not making clean contact or one of the battery posts itself is loose/knackered

Feel for you mate, had my Cavvie SRi done over a few years ago before I had the Supra. Door mirrors, headlights arial and many scratches. Still think I would do time if I found out who did it.

I run mine on Optimax (in the Highlands in Scotland Paul Mac) for the last three years and never had a problem until last week when I went to use the car after it (or rather I) had been off the road for a few months. Bugger to start, Wouldn't run smooth, wouldn't idle. Sitting with a full tank of Optimax which has gone off - gonna shove some octane booster in it this weekend

Take it you would only need these if going single? What about the 540cc ones?

I have a full tank of 3 month old Optimax and think it has gone off (car won't idle). I also have a bottle of Octane Booster. Am I going to create more problems by putting the booster in the tank?

Continuing saga of my car which was refusing to start for last couple of weeks. Couldn't find any blown fuses so fitted my new iridium plugs and first surprise was that the iridium plugs which I had been told were fitted were in fact 7113-8 plugs (found them on the net at >£4 a pop. Not happy. Supra burst in to life and is running smooth with the iridiums except it will not tick over, even at temperature, it just dies when you take your foot completely off the throttle. Car re-starts no bother each time but just won't idle. Any suggestions, or does it need a massive long run (like to a tuner?) One other small query, the cross over (pressure equalisation?) pipes, can I use silicone hoses as these were brittle and split. Can change them tomorrow when shops open but just wonder how critical this may be? At least I can get it to CW now, but if anybody has any ideas on the idle problem please post

Have checked all fuses I can find (boot, footwell and bay) mentioned in threads following a few searches, but still can't get the car to fire up. After turning it over for 10 - 15 mins there is a smell of fuel but nothing like you would expeect with flooding after that time. Very depressing. Anyone point me in the direction of fuse location diagrams as I feel I must be missing one (or more). Which are the pertinant relays and how can I check the coil packs, if indeed they would go as suddenly as this? Would fuel filter cause immediate stop or would it stutter a bit first? Ordered one anyway, beginning to clutch at staws now ....

I am no help to you here, sitting with the same problem myself. Running sweet one day, not even a misfire, cough, backfire the next day. Have been told/advised it is the plugs (apparently once iridium plugs are flooded/fouled you can't do anything with them. so ordered new ones yesterday, should be here by tomorrow.

Hi there My supra has not been used for a while Car been started, run to temp regularly. Started it last Sunday , ran for 20 mins no prob. As I am now ready to drive again (eye problem fixed - yahoo) started it on Thursday, it ran for about 10 -15 secs and cut out/stalled it/it stopped. Would noot restart, just churning over not a cough, misfire, backfire, nothing. Charged battery tried again, still same. Was at a race meeting today and one of the drivers was asking where the supra was and I told him the story. He reckons it is the iridium plugs which are fouled and he says I would be wasting my time trying to clean them as they will not clean. Any comments on this, don't mind buying new plugs to cure the problem but would be a bit lost then on what to do if problem persisted?

How big a hurry you in? I am fitting UK Spec brajes to mine towards the end of next wek. you able to wait till then. Nowt wrong with my J-Spec calipers

Thanks for the comments guys. Remembering where I live I do not want anything which requires re-setting on a regular basis so can I take it that if I went for 264 (with 15 defree adv?) that this would not need retuned every couple of months?

Can someone explain the difference between 256/264/272 cams, not in terms of profiles/geometry/dwell times etc but in terms of performance/reliability and pros and cons of each.
