  3. thanks Shovels - thats really useful -appreciate the input. Putting in cabling and a wired network infratructure was prooving a little expensive compared to wireless, however I will get some more quotes. Dan- again appreciate the info here, made things much clearer for me. I didnt realise that if the staff are accessing a server that counted towards my 'download limit'. We actually have a local server where everthing we use if kept - accessing this wont go towards my limit will it? , on top of this we have the server in Finland which isnt accessed that often. The package I am looking at gives us 40 gig dl allowance per month cheers Far
  4. pass on his email address
  5. thanks mate - for putting this into simple English - all I have been tasked with is looking at the various connectivity options, our HQ is in Finland so they are unable to do it from there. Yes I do have a 54mb WLAN router, but how can a 100 meg LAN allow 100 megs of data to be transported across my network if my broadband speed is only 8meg max? In terms of connectivity I though the max speed available is 24 megs in the UK so I am confused how the lan can work with 100 megs of data at any given time?

    British Gas

you can verbaly commit over the phone but distant selling regs allow you to hav a get out clause as has been mentioned - if not talk to the ombudsman who will spank them into submission but it could be a lengthy affair
  7. Cheers WSB ok - basically the IT guy will come and sort it all out, he has buggered off on holiday and I need to get the stuff ordered So whats this 100mb Lan business? I'm worried that 8mb broadband wont be big enough for 15 laptops
  8. ...well theres nothing wrong about being correct. Tell me if you went to America and they were adament that you spoke 'American' being a proud Brit would you not think they were a little ignorent? I know I would. Same as when people see an oriental asian and automatically describe them as 'Chinese' even though they could well be Jap, Thai, Sumo etc etc Dont get me wrong - I think its the norm nowadays and most have just come to live with it and its pretty non-offensive - so im not too bothered
  9. I think 'indian' covers all i.e. punjabi, urdu or hindi. But the confusion comes when you consider Punjab is both in India and Pakistan dna on top of this Urdu and Hindi are also spoken widely in both countries. So to sum this up - I would say as long as your peers are all born/come from India (not Pakistan) then they can be described as speaking 'Indian' but if some of them are from Pakistan then you cannot refer to them as speaking 'Indian' as of course Pakistan is a diff country!
  10. ....just been speaking to a mate who runs a company up in Soho, he said they have '100mb lan' can someone tell me what the hell this is? Is this something other than broadband? As I understand broadband only reaches 24mb ....could really do with a simple explanation - I googled and found stuff on the BT website but it doesnt really explain how it works
  11. 'Yo mama's so fat, she put on a Malcolm X T-shirt and a helicopter tried to land on her' lol I love that one
  12. Your moma so fat the school photo was an aerial view! You moma do fat shes got her own equator Your moma so fat she went to the beech and got harpooned by the Japs! Your moma so fat when she turns around in a circle its another day again
  13. thanks mate - yes you are right! Essentially we have an office in London and a local server, we need to be able to allow access to our server by offices in FInland and vice versa. I need to have a wireless router conecting all 15 laptops in the office and also allow all the laptops to connect wirelessly to both the server and the printer
  14. Just opening another branch office, I need a wireless connection for about 15 users - anyone know what kind of internet connection I need to buy? I need to connect a server and 15 laptops
  15. technically Bills ball sac is black but his balls are actually the same colour as everyone elses on the inside
  16. erm...do I really need to point out that changing his look by computer and poking fun at him is classed as a joke which he will be part of, blatantly abusing the way he looks without even knowing the guy is not that nice Double standards? I dont think so
