So some of you guys picked up on a couple of threads showing off my new track car. Thought I briefly run a separate thread for updates.
So it started with a pretty poor piece of judgement on my part. Long story short but the first car blew up on the way home! This was a dark blue compact with a 2.8, dodgy seller wasn't going to refund me so managed an exchange to this one above for free. (Incidentally found the first one on eBay again from another seller so some other guy fell for it again and got stung)
So on purchase this is a 2001 Bmw E36 Compact with 2.5 5spd conversion (from 1.6) with E36 M3 front bumper, some nice skirts and a rocket bunny lip extension. Wiper delete (just been pulled off). In a fetching shade of baby blue. STD interior except for a lovely OMP wheel in alcantara blue
first issue was intermittent overheating again, so after investigation went with a new water pump and thermostat and housing but that didn't solve the issue so it was a blown head gasket. So ok I'm in for a penny in for a few hundred pounds - a replacement engine from a well looked after auto and a small fortune later I had a reliable car - 12hrs later it's at Oulton park!
The white wheels had a weld so got some OEM wheels and got rid of the stupid bonnet scoop. Overhauled the brakes with braided lines, bike fluid, yellow stuff pads and then Fitted some towing eyes and I'm razzing it round like a Bignum wannabe (with a supra sticker hidden in the cabin)

Loved every minute of it! Novice group with less than 10 cars on track and all the tarmac to play with for the whole day. Car did well felt little roll but it's already on coilovers so good enough
Plans
ECU remap for 2.5
Buckets and Belts
Strip down the interior and lightweight door cards
Fabricate a heat shield for the air filter
New engine mounts
And on and on and on
